Answer:	The short answer is that 2.4 GHz will generally register as having better signal strength compared to 5GHz. Windows tends to prefer this, and most consumer routers won't signal the endpoint to switch to 5GHz. You can fix this by going to the advanced adapter properties, and seeing if you can set it to "Prefer 5GHz". Alternatively, the WiFi Mode setting can be set to a set that excludes 2.4GHz like 802.11 a/c/n/ac.

Answer:	I had the same problem. They provided a link to download the drivers, which I did. I installed them on my MacBook Pro and attempted to restart as prompted. My trusty Mac refused to restart even in "safe mode". Tried rebooting in recovery mode and again, would not boot up. I ended up reinstalling my entire drive from a back up drive. Total time wasted=5 hours and I sent this back for a refund. Don't bother wasting your money if you have a Mac, it will only cause you grief.

Answer:	Hey guys, I'm able to have it working on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I did follow the dkms solution posted by the other user; the script ran into an error, that's when I noticed the shell script requires a manual edit to edit out the version number for the driver's directory, once that's done the shell script ran just fine. Also, I had this adapter plugged into a USB 2.0 port, and the wifi would not accept the password; once I plug it into a USB 3.0 port (duh, lol) the wifi accepted the password and working just fine.

The only factor is that you have a landline phone line that provides 48v line voltage, for the modem to plug into. That allows your computer to transmit and receive information over that same phone line, thus allowing the computer to have dial up access, or act as a fax machine. i hope that answers the question you posed.

Answer:	Not by itself. It needs the help of another router device like a GL-AR300M (Sold on Amazon elsewhere for about $40) that it plugs into. This is strictly a USB Modem unit that allows your laptop or PC to link up by itself.

Answer:	. I recently got this adapter... It works perfectly with Ubuntu & Mint, ( both Debian based ), as well as Fedora, ( which is Red Hat's desktop fork of Linux ). . One thing to note is you need to extract the driver and build/install it, ( using the make commands ), in order to use it. For people unfamiliar with how to do this, or who may be unsure that they are technically capable, the adapter has very good documentation on the folder on the included disc, ( you can also find the driver and documents on Cudy's website for those who would like to view it before purchasing ). I whole-heartedly recommend this adapter, even for people new to Linux. 🙂 So far I've used mine on a MacBook as well as a Dell Optiplex w/o issue.
