The common rule of thumb is that each added connector yields a loss of 3db...which in layman's terms actually means a 50% reduction in strength! Also, you can google the loss per foot for each cable type, as they do differ. Both can sometimes negate the benefits of a higher gain antenna, and so it's always optimal to have the correct length (not too long) cable, with the required connectors directly fitted onto the cable whenever possible. This doesn't mean fittings can NEVER be used...just that the less fittings, the better! This concludes today's lesson :)

Alfa AOA-2458-59-TF is a new high quality, low cost dual band 9/5 dBi gain omni-directional 2.4/5 GHz GHz Wi-Fi antenna with N-female connector. The gain is 9 dBi for 5 GHz and 5 dBi for 2.4 GHz. This has weather proof fiber glass casing. This is a great antenna for boat or RV use. This does not come with a mounting bracket. With its N-female connector, this can be connected directly to a variety of outdoor WiFi products including Alfa's Tube series, the Ubiquiti Bullet series, and the Mikrotik Groove.

Answer: This antenna was very disappointing. I got better results from a cheap Alfa network adapter than this thing, unfortunately. At the moment I'm using an ideaworks usb wifi antenna, only because it's directional, and it also works better than this long range yagi.

Answer: While it works in windows 10, it is very much not stable, only working for 15 -30 minutes at a time before having to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work.
Question: Can I replace the external antenna with a directional antenna
Answer: This item will not work with you tablet that is running android and at the same time will not understand this device. If you want to extend the wifi coverage that you have in your home, you may consider using a wifi extender for routers. Don't have a recommendation for that due to me only living in a small place and having placed wifi connection point at the center of my home. Good luck on finding what you need.

Answer: Its about 12 inches long. I never use them. I use my kids leapfrog cable, for reason it works better.

Answer: This does not come with DC12v power supply but that can be purchased separately (part ACR-12). It does ship with AC power supply.
