8 best dsl modem cables

DSL modem cables are essential components in networking setups that use DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technology to establish a high-speed internet connection. These cables play a crucial role in connecting the DSL modem to other networking equipment and the telephone line. Here is what you need to know about DSL modem cables:

  1. Purpose: DSL modem cables are used to establish a physical connection between the DSL modem and the telephone jack or DSL wall outlet. They transmit data signals between the modem and the DSL service provider's network.

  2. Types of Cables:

    • DSL Phone Line Cable: This is the most common type of DSL modem cable. It typically has an RJ-11 connector on both ends, similar to a standard telephone cable.
    • DSL Ethernet Cable: Some DSL modems also offer an Ethernet port for connecting to a router or computer. In this case, you would use a standard Ethernet cable (usually with RJ-45 connectors) to establish the connection.
  3. Length: DSL modem cables come in various lengths to accommodate different installation scenarios. It's essential to choose a cable length that suits your specific setup while ensuring that the cable isn't excessively long, which can lead to signal degradation.

  4. Compatibility: When purchasing a DSL modem cable, it's important to ensure compatibility with your modem and other networking equipment. Most DSL modems come with the necessary cable or specify the type of cable required.

  5. Signal Quality: The quality of the DSL modem cable can impact the performance of your internet connection. Using a high-quality, shielded cable can help reduce interference and ensure a stable and fast connection.

  6. Installation: Installing a DSL modem cable is typically straightforward. Plug one end into the DSL modem and the other into the telephone jack or DSL wall outlet. If your modem has an Ethernet port, connect it to a router or computer using an Ethernet cable.

  7. Maintenance: Regularly inspect your DSL modem cable for any physical damage, such as frayed or exposed wires. Damaged cables should be replaced to maintain a reliable connection.

In summary, DSL modem cables are essential accessories for establishing DSL internet connections. They come in different types and lengths to accommodate various networking setups and should be chosen based on compatibility and the specific requirements of your DSL modem and network configuration.

User questions & answers

Question: I ordered this rj11(6ft). I received rj12(7ft) both had the #28721. will this rj12 work
Answer: Yes, but as a basic camera only. There are no adjustments such as exposure, etc as found when using it with a PC. If used as a MAC camera for Skype, etc, it great.
Question: Would work with and adsl modem router
Answer: no
Question: Will this work well for AT&T U-verse
Answer: I believe it does work with USB 3.0 but I'm not 100% certain. But it has a software issue that the manufacturer never replied to me about. The sound got very distorted and there was no driver software specifically for the device to control the levels and such of voice and audio quality. The video quality, however is excellent.
Question: what is c2G
Answer: The camera is attached to the clip with a "ball and socket" type joint. It can rotate freely as many turns as you like. While pointing directly forward (as pictured), it can tilt up about 20 degrees and tilt down about 25 degrees with respect to the flat bottom of the clip (estimated with a digital protractor), for a total travel of about 45 degrees in the forward orientation. In other orientations, e.g. pointing to the side, you get more or less as the clip obstructs the tilt movement more in some orientations and less in others: you can probably imagine that, pointing sideways, the back of the camera can tilt up more because the back of the camera doesn't hit the clip as soon.In practise, for the intended use of mounting on top of a monitor or laptop screen, you can use the flexible clip to get more or less tilt as the flat bottom of the clip doesn't have to lie flat and there's often little or nothing for it to lie flat on: e.g. the flat edge of my laptop screen is only a couple of millimeters.

User questions & answers

Question: I ordered this rj11(6ft). I received rj12(7ft) both had the #28721. will this rj12 work
Answer: I have used a similar cable for my CenturyLink C1000A and C1900A routers. This cable would also be an upgrade for old internal phone wiring (un-shielded twisted pair).
Question: Would work with and adsl modem router
Answer: This should work for any standard DSL connection, so AT&T should be fine, as long as it's their DSL service. This will not work for any cable or fiber optic services. It goes between your wall jack and WAN port on your modem. It should replace the standard telephone line they usually send you when you get the modem.
Question: Will this work well for AT&T U-verse
Answer: Hello Ning. The c2G cable sold here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002J2ANE?ref_=pe_527950_33920250, stands for "Cables 2 Go." It is a specially shielded cord normally used to connect a standard Land Line telephone to its wall outlet. The cable sold here has extra shielding so that DSL signals do not degrade as much when using the cord. For me it was the difference between my DSL MODEM having a signal by using the cord or NOT having a DSL signal by using a different, non-shielded cord. The c2G cord I bought was 50 feet long and snakes through walls and basement. Excellent cord, I would recommend it if you are having problems maintaining your DSL signal when using such a cord.
Question: what is c2G
Answer: You can google to confirm but I believe it does. It has been some time now that I used this router but I did a quick search myself and found WEP listed under wifi features for this model.

User questions & answers

Question: I ordered this rj11(6ft). I received rj12(7ft) both had the #28721. will this rj12 work
Answer: Yes, these will work with Windows 10. I confirmed with our IT specialist.
Question: Would work with and adsl modem router
Answer: From the strain relief where the cable enters the housing to the end of the D housing is 3". The connector has female screw receptacles to connect to another cable/device. My device was also female so I removed the nuts receptacle on the device; I have had no problems with them becoming separated.
Question: Will this work well for AT&T U-verse
Answer: I don’t know. I used it for connection to my stereo receiver.
Question: what is c2G
Answer: A tad late to the party... but, yes. This adapter would allow for a 3rd screen from your laptop (assuming it can already do two on its own). I use this to add a 3rd monitor to a Dell docking station (with two DVI monitors attached). This is a completely separate video adapter than what your laptop has. Keep in mind that the USB channel has slower throughput than a regular video card will have. This adapter is not really built for lots of motion or constant video. Use it for more static screen usage--email, Word, Excel, etc. Be sure to download the most current drivers from the manufacturer website--http://www.displaylink.com/downloads.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this work with landline phones
Answer: Sure. But I would protect it from moisture and sunlight if you want it to last more than a few years. Maybe run some pvc conduit. 3/4 would make it easier to get the connectors thru. But yea it will work outside. Just take care whatever you secure it with you don’t mess with the outer coating. I have had mine under porch and a 4 foot section exposed to the weather for about 2 years no issues

User questions & answers

Question: Is the 4" cable straight thru
Answer: This is for the mower deck. Not a drive belt. The belt sold here only attaches to the two pulleys from the blades then to the accessory pulley coming from the engine.
Question: Can you bury this cable? Thanks and God Bless
Answer: Yes, however you do need enough of your own hair tohold the clips and cover. I like this brand and that it's human hair.
Question: Is this the cable i need for wall-to-router/wifi dsl connection? my 10ft one says cat 5 tia/eia patch cord
Answer: I think one pack is enough. If you want a particularly full effect, I recommend two packs.

Question: I need a cable to run from my outdoor telephone interface to my indoor modem. Both ends need to be male "telephone" plugs to connect to my dsl network
Answer: stranded

Answer: I believe UTP stands for unshielded twisted pair.
Question: Is this set up for rj11? i need to run from isp box directly to modem/router
Answer: It Will Not work with normal ATT Modem... Too Powerful For Old School Modems..If you have ATT Fiber The new Modems it may work with... But Never Know with Att Modems.. had to disconnect it cause it made my Buffering worst.. and no Signal at all... I ended up Buying Another cable that works perfect and made amazing Improvement... Kenable ASDL 2+... Until ATT gets Fiber Everywhere.. we stuck with horrible Internet... I Give the Amphenol 5 Stars Because it is best Cat 5 RJ11 Cable but Att Old Modems Can't Handle Any Cable that's not RJ11 To RJ11....
Question: And Is cable shielded or un-shielded
Answer: I believe RJ11. It is a phone connector like you would plug into a land line phone jack on a Cat5 modem cable. I use it for my internet service.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this modem work on my Frontier DSL line
Answer: The TD-8616 is just a modem, meaning it will convert between the type of signal your computer can use (Ethernet) and type that goes over your phone line (ADSL2+).The TD-8816 is a modem and a router, the router allows you to share a single Internet connection with multiple computers at the same time. This gets a little more complicated since for most people you are going to connect this to some wireless access point which will also act as a router. Having two routers in your home connected to each other can cause issues such as double-NAT.In short if you want to connect this directly to your computer with a single wire, buy the TD-8816 so you get the add protection of the router/firewall. If you want to connect this to a wireless access point (I suggest a TL-WDR3600 as a cost effective solution) buy the TD-8616. You may need to call your ISP in either case to help get it setup.
Question: Does anyone know what is the difference between TD-8816 and TD
Answer: Works for me on CenturyLink, but i had to call tech support to get the PPPoE login and Password which is different than your Centurylink account login and PW.
Question: centurylink
Answer: The confusion stems from the fact that in recent years, most home internet access has moved to all in one devices that fulfill multiple roles. However, there are many functions that are part of providing internet access and each can potentially be assigned to seperate devices. In most home internet access you have:A modem - this is specific to the type of service you have (cable or DsL). Its job is to translate the signal from your service provider into something your local device can understand. Usually this is done by coverting the signal to Ethernet.A router - this device takes the signal from your modem and does a variety transformations to it to allow multiple devices to connect to the internet. It is usually also the device that hands out addresses to your local devices. It is also known as your gateway, as all traffic to and from the internet goes through it.A switch - this device takes care of distributing the signal from your router to all devices that are physically connected on your local network. This is almost exclusively done over RJ45 CAT 5 cabling. Looks like an over sized phone plug.A wireless access point - this device takes care of distributing the signal from your router to all device that are connected wirelessly to your local network. There is a wide variety of types protocol to do this with 802.11 a, b, g, n and ac being the most commonly in use.To simplify things for end users, many devices combine multiple functions into one. The most common device type at this time is one that combines a router, switch and wireless access point into one unit so that all you have to do is connect your provider's modem and maybe go through a few setup screens. The TD-8816 combines combines a modem and a router and goes from a phone line to Ethernet. The TD-8817 combines a modem and a router and goes from phone line to either Ethernet or USB. It also appears to have the ability to disable its router allowing you to turn it into a simple modem. This how some people would use it if they had a single PC and no need to share the connection. Your computer would then become a router of sorts but with only itself as the member of the local network. Most users nowadays do not use this configuration. Sorry for the long post. Hopefully this helps.
Question: I am now confused about the difference between the tp-link td 8817 and 8616, based on responses by jonathan hanson on 3/23/14 and as atwood on
Answer: If you mean voice activation like Alexa, I dont think so.
