The dirt, grass and salt chips on top of the cover are minimal. I wanted maximum coverage to heat and hold in warmth. Excess air trapped under to escape, not inflate. The surface tension holds the cover firmly on the water even in high winds, you may lose that with extra cover. I think most covers are cut from straight stock and glued, mine was 6" to 12" to large and egg shaped when I received it. They work great.

Answer:	I'm not sure about the weight, i use the bag for my laptop, pad, etc., and it works great, Its slim so i wouldnt over pack it.

Answer:	It’s not real leather......faux leather. Possibly vinyl .

Answer:	I dont see why you cant, if you are attaching them to the inside. If you are adding to the outside I would probably use a press cloth to protect it. Test the heat of the iron first on a spot not so noticeable like the staple near the bottom.
