Answer:	I would do a clean format of it on the imac first, you can choose exFAT (it will work on both PC and mac) or you can choose Mac OS Extended (HFS+) which is more stable than exFAT, but you will need software on your PC to read/write to the drive. If the PC is your main machine I would just choose exFAT.

Answer:	Your iMac has USB 3.0 which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1. That has about half the theoretical maximum transfer rate of USB 3.1 Gen 2, which is the interface used by this drive. On the upside, it is still fully compatible with USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 and while the transfer rate you’ll experience will be lower than if you had a computer with Gen 2 USB, it really isn’t that much slower in actual use. If you’re moving from any spinning platter drive to an SSD regardless of the interface you were using with the platter drive, you will see a HUGE performance improvement using this external SSD drive.

Answer:	Did you download the update? It could be related to the base software on the drive being outdated.
Question:	Can I use this as an external backup drive? Is there a back up software included
Answer:	Do not use the Password Protection. If you just installed, you can disable the Password Protection feature on the Settings screen of the Samsung Portable SSD software as follows: Click the "Set" button on the Main screen, switch the "Lock" button from ON to OFF, enter a password, and save it. Otherwise you cannot expect unattended backup's.
Question:	How should this be formatted and setup to use as a boot drive for macintosh
Answer:	Even after reformatting as an OSX drive (it comes formatted for Windows), it cannot be used as an external boot drive. However, I used Drive Genius to format it as a "Bootwell" drive, and that seemed to enable it to be used as a boot drive. You will need to clone a current drive to the Samsung T5 if you want it to boot up with all the apps you used to have.

Answer:	Samsung website: * 5 years or TBW (250 GB: 75 TBW; 500 GB/1 TB: 150 TBW, 2/4 TB: 300 TBW), whichever comes first. So, for the 500 GB SSD, 150 terabytes can be written before there is an increased likelihood of failure. This depends on many factors, but mostly on how full the drive is. If the drive is nearly full, remaining free cells may be subjected to excessive writes.

Question:	Should I formate it for Mac ?? Or its already formatted hfs
Answer:	This drive will store programs as well as data, however you will have to choose a different path during installation of any new program, and specify your new Samsung T1 drive as the location to install the program on. Then the program will run just fine as long as the T1 drive is connected to your computer.
Question:	Does it come with the 6 10TB hard drives or do you have to get those separately
Answer:	You can certainly save money and do that. You will almost get the same performance but Samsung utility software might not recognize the external drive enclosure as a supported firmware. You need to check that otherwise trim might not work correctly and your EVO's performance will suffer over a couple months of heavy use.On to other hand, This Samsung T1 is an external USB3 drive at 2/3 the size. It is very compact at USB3 speed. you won't have speed advantage but performs as spec. Have you looked at Thunderbolt external SSD enclosure as an option?
Question:	What happens in the raid motherboard fails? And what if it fails when a replacement is not available. Can data be recovered from the hard-drives

Question:	Can this ssd be converted to be used as an external drive? if you have done it then how did you do it
Answer:	LaCie hard drives do come formatted for Mac, but not being a Mac user, I don't know the specifics, or if there is more than one way to format a Mac drive. You can certainly reformat to your liking before use and that would only take a few minutes.
Question:	Does anyone know how long a typical SSD can last in years
Answer:	It is a single product with 6 10 TB hard drive...
Question:	How is this different from the EVO
Answer:	I'm a computer programmer, and RAID is *never* a backup. You can, however, greatly increase your data security by setting it to RAID 6, with an identical 2nd machine as the "backup". If you only want one device, you can set it to RAID 1, which mirrors each drive. That will likely achieve your goal of the data intact if the motherboard fails. Keep in mind any data corruption, viruses, malware, power surges, etc., will also be mirrored. To simplify RAID 6, if any drive fails, it will ideally rebuild itself assuming additional drives do not fail or have impacted bad sectors. I would stay away from RAID 5 at great capacities.

Question:	Is this compatible with HP Pavilion 500QE Desktop
Answer:	Yes, any drive can be converted to an external drive as long as you got the enclosure for them. I have 3 external drive enclosures that plug directly into USB for laptop drives because they use a lot less power than a full size desktop computer drive. External enclosures exist for those too with a power supply that connects to a wall for that reason. Then you just format the drive and it'll appear as a USB drive. I use windows so I go to disk management, click on the drive that says unallocated space and create a partition and format it.

Answer:	one magazine/blog/website took 20 some odd SSDs of all brands some years ago back when they were less resilient as they are now, and ran "Avil" tests on them nothing but, non stop reads and writes a few died, time would go on a few more would die, years would go on a few more would die and few more years would go on before the rest finally fizzled out. this is constant writes 24/7 365 for a few years before they died, back when they weren't as refined as they are now.

Answer:	QVO uses QLC memory, or, as Samsung calls it, '4-bit MLC'(which is really misleading, because 'MLC' is mostly used for '2-bit MLC'). QLC means that one cell have to hold 4 bits of data (or sixteen different charge levels). QLC cells are thus slower to write (not seen in typical use due to caching, but transferring a large file will slow down write speed to ~120-150 MB/s). Also, QLC endurance is ~500-1000 write cycles, compared to ~3000 TLC and 10000+ MLC so if the disk is heavily used for writing new data , it will wear out. I do not recommend it for system drive but it is good with - for instance - second drive with games / movies .
