Answer:	The 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB drives are all SMR, which means they are slow for random writes and not suitable as boot drives. (Google "Why SMR drives are sub-optimal for write-intensive workloads".)

Answer:	I got the ST4000DM004 which claims 7200 rpm on amazon and my computer is reporting it has a media rotation rate of 5425 rpm

Answer:	As other reviewers have mentioned, all Seagate drives sold on the Amazon Seagate page have no warranty of any kind. DO NOT BUY THESE DRIVES.

Answer:	As long as you have a modern PC. It's typical SATA III interface. The only issue is with older PCs because you need a BIOS that can deal with GPT partitions. But really, if you have something that came out after around 2010 - 2012, the BIOS should be more modern. BIOS, being software/hardware = firmware that's involved with the basic functionality of the hardware that's part of the PC, which is what brings the PC up to the state of being able to load an operating system, such as Windows or Linux.
Question:	Are these retail or oem? seagate won't warranty oem drives
Answer:	I emailed them this question about the 8TB Seagate Exos 8TB Internal Hard drive, and at least they were honest. (saberPC). I chose not to waste my money on a 'questionable' 5 YEAR warranty from a company that may very well not be around in 5 years, and even if they are, a company with a 10% 'unsatisfied' customer raises some serious red flags. Better to spend an extra 50 bucks and get a real warranty from Seagate. 5 years is a LONG time. 'The Seagate hard drives that we are selling are OEM drives which are all brand new and sealed from the factory. The warranty is from us that we offer an industry standard 5-year warranty on all hard drives and we have been in business for over 12 years. Answer:	Yes I have this issue as well. When running a raid it will set up to A safe cache to a largers size due to all the drives. How many drives are you using? Check out the Manufacturer website. This is how I found why I was getting this as well. I'm running 5 drives in a Z2 config.

Answer:	According to the datasheet, the ST8000NM000A is newer and lighter (by 64 g) and has better shock protection than the older ST8000NM0055, but the speed ratings are the same. Perhaps they were able to increase areal density and use one fewer platter? Also, the newer drive has SuperParity and a vibration spec. The newer drive uses more power. Essentially, very little. The models are 2 years apart.

Answer:	Seagate central will support it, but after a few months or so, your gonna notice some changes. Soon it'll start growing facial hair in places, its voice will start to go deeper, and start hanging out with a different crowd. At times it feels like it doesn't even acknowledge your existence anymore its becoming its own. Soon it'll flock and do its own thing, and maybe every once in a while call back and visit during the holidays. Question:	what is the speed of the 4tb, RPM??? thanks
Answer:	I have used Enterprise drives in a RAID-5, using an LSI MegaRAID 8 port controller in the past. But while still in warranty, one drive failed, and before the hot standby could be fully incorporated, a second drive failed. All data was lost. Ironwolf class drives are made specifically for use in a NAS as a RAID drive. I would suggest looking at those. I just purchased 5x 10TB Ironwolf drives, and a Synology DS1019+, set up with a 4x drive RAID-5, and a hot spare in slot 5. I am still setting it up backups and sync, but hope this won't fail like my first attempt with a RAID.

Answer:	Buyer beware. A lot of drives are resold as OEM at Amazon. If OEM than your warranty is through the seller. That means not WD will replace your drive but the reseller. Compare the cost to buying direct and know the consequences. I have over 50 WD drives and it is much easer to deal with one vendor for replacement vs finding the exact receipt for a drive. Assuming they are in business in 5 years. Also buy from amazon they offer better return policy.

Answer:	As a boot drive it would need to use the 64-bit version of Windows (and you'd need EFI BIOS), but just for a storage drive both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 should work. As for any partitions larger than 2 TB, you'll need to partition using the GPT option.

Answer:	Not to boot. But using it successfully in 2008 Mac Pro as a plex server. 4 drives, raid 1+0, softraid. Working perfectly well.
