12 best lenovo internal hard drives
Lenovo offers a range of internal hard drives and storage solutions that cater to the needs of both consumers and businesses. These internal hard drives are designed to provide reliable data storage, improved system performance, and data security. Here's what you need to know about Lenovo's internal hard drives:
Types of Internal Hard Drives: Lenovo offers various types of internal hard drives, including Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and Solid State Drives (SSDs). HDDs are known for their high capacity and are suitable for bulk storage needs, while SSDs offer faster data access speeds and are ideal for improving system performance.
Capacity Options: Lenovo's internal hard drives come in a range of storage capacities to accommodate different storage requirements. You can find options that start from smaller capacities (e.g., 128GB or 256GB for SSDs) to larger capacities (e.g., multiple terabytes for HDDs).
Compatibility: Lenovo's internal hard drives are designed to be compatible with various Lenovo desktops and laptops, as well as other PCs. Compatibility information is typically provided on Lenovo's website or product documentation, helping users choose the right drive for their system.
Form Factors: Lenovo's internal hard drives are available in different form factors, such as 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives for HDDs, and various sizes (e.g., 2.5-inch, M.2, and PCIe) for SSDs. The form factor must match the drive bay or slot in your computer for proper installation.
Performance: SSDs from Lenovo are known for their fast data transfer speeds, which can significantly improve system boot times and application loading. HDDs, on the other hand, are suitable for users who need large storage capacity at a lower cost but are willing to sacrifice some speed.
Data Security: Lenovo often incorporates data security features into their SSDs, such as hardware encryption and secure erase capabilities, to help protect sensitive data.
Warranty: Lenovo typically provides a warranty with their internal hard drives, ensuring that customers have peace of mind regarding the reliability and longevity of their storage solutions.
Usage Scenarios: Lenovo's internal hard drives are suitable for a wide range of applications, from everyday computing and gaming to more demanding tasks like content creation and business data storage.
Lenovo's internal hard drives are designed to meet the storage needs of a diverse range of users, offering options that balance capacity, performance, and affordability. When considering a Lenovo internal hard drive, it's essential to ensure compatibility with your specific computer model and assess your storage requirements to choose the right drive for your needs.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the 2tb (st2000dm008) internal hard drive cmr or smr |
Answer: | The 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB drives are all SMR, which means they are slow for random writes and not suitable as boot drives. (Google "Why SMR drives are sub-optimal for write-intensive workloads".) |
Question: | Is this really 7200rpm? the model number suggests otherwise |
Answer: | I got the ST4000DM004 which claims 7200 rpm on amazon and my computer is reporting it has a media rotation rate of 5425 rpm |
Question: | Is a sata cable included in the package |
Answer: | Cables not included. You can buy a SATA data cable and likely the appropriate power cable for your computer right here on Amazon. Depending on your power supply, the power cable may already be connected to it in your computer -- some have that and some do not. |
Question: | Is this 7200 or 5400rpm |
Answer: | Only the 1 TB (#ST1000DM010) and 2 TB (#ST2000DM008) models are 7200, all the larger models are 5400. Both the llisted speed and model number change in the product description as you pick different disk size options. This is consistent with Seagate's website -- From the home page, drill down through (or search for) Internal / Hard Drives / BarraCuda - Learn More, and then click the 3.5 inch models tab (NOT the 3.5 inch PRO models tab). Then click on the data sheet next to any model to get a PDF with a table containing all of the models along with their drive speeds and other specs.. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this operate in cctv dvr ? got all same numbers as original |
Answer: | I just finished installing this 1TB and it worked like a charm... 828GB free out of 931GB. I'll update this if any thing changes... |
Question: | Which manufacture is for sale seagate or samsung?! the product image is samsung but listing says seagate |
Answer: | Of course it's compatible with Apple. Just need to format the drive during OS X installation. Apple uses SATA, the drive is SATA.It doesn't matter what brand or model the drive is as long as it's a 2 1/2 inch for a Mac Mini\MacBook\MacBook ProFor the iMac it's a 3 1/2 |
Question: | Can this work with a Hp pavilion dv |
Answer: | The SATA 3Specification allows for up to 6Gbps, this is the theoretical burst throughput and is based on a number of things. The actual speed will depend heavily on if you are using in with a Laptop that SATA connection is for SATA3, Memory, Processor and BUS speed. Not to mention this is a 5400 RPM hard drive with 64MB of memory and 8 GB of Solid State Memory. Running Disk Speed Test on a 2011 2 Ghz i7 Quad using as a stress test of 5 GB got an average of 63 MB/s Write and 59 MB/s read with a 1GB file averaging better at 83 MB/s Write and 79 MB/s Read. Appears to be faster than the average 5400 RPM hard drive. It will speed up your computer as most of the often used data will be shuffled to the SSD portion. I got this drive for about $95 replacing the upgraded 500 GB Harddrive. Once installed it boots up in nearly half the time as previous and all applications are much quicker to launch with very little lag. It was well worth the price for double the capacity and double the speed vs 3-4 times the speed and 1/8th the capacity a comparably priced SSD drive would cost. |
Question: | Can this work with a Dell Inspiron n |
Answer: | Yep works on PS4. Start up / boot times appears to be faster than with stock drive. 1TB drive gives available space of 860Gb. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this drive smr if so i don't want it |
Answer: | No, it’s not. All Ironwolf and Itonwolf pro drives are SMR free, according to Seagate |
Question: | Does any one know a case where 3 could fit inside |
Answer: | I have 3 of these in a Synology 4 bay NAS DiskStation DS918+ works great! |
Question: | I purchased (2) 12-tb: anyone knows why i get 10.91-tb for each? why are we short |
Answer: | manufacturer considers 1 Megabyte to be 1000 Kilobytes, 1 Gigabyte to be 1000 Megabytes, 1 Terabyte to be 1000 Gigabytes and so on. This is correct considering that kilo means 1000 and mega means 1000000 (10^6). However, computers calculate on base 2 and to them, 1 MB is actually 1024 kilobytes, 1GB is 1024MB and 1 TB is 1024GB. This difference in the method of computation is responsible for this "missing space." Let's take an example of a 500 GB hard disk. From a manufacturer's point of view, the 500GB will have 500*1000*1000*1000 = 500000000000 bytes. From a computer's point of view, 500GB is actually 500*1024*1024*1024 = 536870912000 bytes. So, a hard drive that promises to have 500 GB storage space will actually display 465.66GB, 536870912000-500000000000 = 36870912000 bytes (34.34GB) less storage space when connected to a computer. This is true of every drive you buy |
Question: | Can this be used as a normal hdd storage drive for a desktop pc |
Answer: | I have two NAS drives in my computer, and they work great. I bought two easystore external hard drives and removed the hard hard drives from the case. The hard drives are 5400 rpm drives. I only archive things on those drives, and they work great. The 7200 rpm drives are better for gaming but more expensive. The easystores only costed me $150. They also have a 256mb cache. |

Question: | Dos it work on MacBook Pro 15" mic-2010 model? Let me know ASAP! Thanks |
Answer: | This hard drive will works with your Macbook Pro.All of these MacBook Pro models support a 2.5" notebook hard drive or SSD that is up to 9.5 mm tall (0.37 inches) and use a SATA interface, but the maximum SATA interface speed of different models varies. When the "Mid-2009" MacBook Pro models first were released, systems configured with a hard drive only had 1.5 Gb/s SATA enabled, whereas systems configured with an SSD had faster 3.0 Gb/s SATA 2.0 enabled. This caused a great deal of discontent among those across the blogosphere interested in performing their own SSD upgrades, but thankfully Apple quickly corrected this issue with a software update. The "Mid-2010" MacBook Pro models were properly enabled with 3.0 Gb/s SATA 2.0 by default, and subsequent models are equipped with faster 6.0 Gb/s SATA 3.0.http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/macbook-pro-unibody-faq/macbook-pro-13-15-17-mid-2009-how-to-upgrade-hard-drive-ssd.html |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this drive support sata iii |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | How do these compare with older PH3500U-1I72 version? Toshiba dropped the warranty on X300 to 2 years, why? What compromises were made |
Answer: | I think they are the same disk nearly, when I test the performance, they behave no difference. Moreover, both disks use the same firmware version. However, when i check the warranty period on Toshiba website, x300 stated as 3 years and ph3500u stated as 2 years, totally mixed up. |
Question: | What is warranty period? it is not available on toshiba site, or amazon |
Answer: | It appears the warranty period is 2 years on this particular model.Using the model # of HDWE140XZSTA found here in the description, I found the following on toshiba's web site:http://support.toshiba.com/support/viewContentDetail?contentId=4001732&pf=trueI personally went with the 5 TB hard drive and have been very happy with it.You might contact the actual seller and verify this info, but that is what I found on Toshiba's web site.Hope this helps. Later. |
Question: | What's the difference between this one and the older model |
Answer: | The X300 uses more advanced storage techniques and more efficient cache management techniques and protocols. It is faster, and more efficient. There is nothing wrong with the older model, I have both in use n my network, but the x300 is better suited for a busy digital media server especially if your server/workstation has multiple core processors. I like the X300 the only drawback (if you want to call it that) is tha te X300 is a little bit on the noisy side due t the read/write head technology used. It is not objectionable in my opinion. Both drives have been dependable. |
