PCIe cards are both backwards and forwards compatible, so if you have a PCIe 1.0a or 1.1, or a 3.x or 4.x slot, you should still be able to insert and use the card. The performance may or may not be the same, as some revisions of PCIe standard affect data rates, but basic functionality should remain intact regardless of the version. Compatibility with other components is not guaranteed, so if you still have reservations, check your motherboard's QVL (qualified vendor list), if available, or ask around to see if your specific combination of hardware has been tested. You shouldn't have any issues, though.

Answer:	Yes. I installed macOS High Sierra on it and can start up from it whenever I need to use that OS. It works great and the speed is fine.

Answer:	I played on my PS4 for almost two hours and checked the USB drive. It was slightly warm but not hot at all. I believe your Pi will be fine with it.

Answer:	No, this is a USB-A thumb drive, the larger port on all computers. Many newer better android phones have USB-C (small, oval shaped). Most still have micro-USB (small, trapezoid). The easiest way to tell the difference is if you can flip your charging cable upside down and it still plugs in then it's C, otherwise it's probably micro-usb. I would google photos of the ports to verify. Anyway, there are several thumbdrives that have USB-A on one side and USB-C or micro-USB on the other side. You could also get an OTG adapter for this thumbdrive to plug it into your phone. I'm not sure what software would transfer your photos to the thumbdrive, but I'm sure there are 1000 different options. The built in photos app lets you select days or individual photos and 'copy to folder' on an external drive. Other software might automate the process by copying them all when you plug in the drive. Personally I would recommend Android's built in backup&sync. It will upload your photos when you're on wifi. I think it's on by default, so you should go to google's photo webpage (amazon won't allow link), and log in with the same account you use on your phone and see if all your pictures have already been uploaded. If not, it shouldn't be too difficult to find instructions for turning on backup&sync for photos. On mine there's a switch in the photos app when I look in the 'Camera' album. FYI: uploading doesn't mean they're shared. Unless someone takes a great interest (time&money&hacking) they're pretty safe. Answer:	Bookhisattva has an interesting note. But, I see no reason why it can't be formatted in a variety of different formats other than Fat32 (HFS+ for Macs, ext4 for linux, NTFS for Windows, just to start). Also, technically, the file system he is referring to is "exFAT" and is a proprietary format from Microsoft, and most often used for flash cards. I'm also a little confused by the original question- what else would you use it for other than in Macs and PCs? I would be more concerned for using it in things that WEREN'T (Macs are now often also called PCs now because there isn't much difference, hardware wise)

Answer:	that will largely depend on whether or not you have a USB 3.0 port. Even if you don't, most full length films(assuming HD quality) will be 2.5 - 4.0 GB, even on a USB 2.0 port, that takes 15- 20 min(ish) a 3.0 port would most certainly be faster

Answer:	I've owned both the metal 128GB and plastic 64GB versions for almost a year and haven't had any problems with either. They've never stopped working even when transferring multiple 1GB or larger files at once. The metal one does get warmer because the plastic dissipates heat much more efficiently. I was actually surprised at the difference. It's definitely noticeable under heavy use but not uncomfortably hot and it behaves the same regardless of USB version or which PC I use. However, when transferring the same size file on a USB 2.0 port I've noticed it does exhibit more heat than a 3.0 port because the read/write speed is slower so the drive is in use longer. But it's really only noticeable with very large files and at Idle it maintains it's temperature (cool to the touch). For me it hasn't been an issue and I prefer the metal version. I have 2 more and a SanDisk in the cart now. But if it's a concern buy the plastic one. They're both very well made with excellent and consistent transfer speeds. That's been my experience. Answer:	Wow! Where do you people get your info to answer questions like this. A GB is actually 1024 MB and 1,048.576 Kilobytes (these numbers are approximated) which equals out to APPROXIMATELY 1,073,741,824 Bytes. Each Byte is 8 bits of data. You can do the math all day long on different devices and you will get different results due to the OS of the devices you are using to format the Drive. All Flash Storage Media Drives (Flash Drives, Thumb Drives, Jump Drives, SD Cards... etc.), have hidden files and added software to ensure the "Drive" stores data correctly (Simplified statement / answer). When you format your "Drive" you actually do NOT erase the included "software" (zeros are written over the data so it won't be read) but, you will still have write protected files left behind. The File Allocation Table will tell the device that these files are not there any longer and that there is available space to add more data. The data will always be there until that "area" is written over with new data. A bit is binary and each digit to the left represents an increase of a Power of 2 or Power of 10 (Base 10) in decimal. So... what does all this mean? Basically every answer is correct with minor mistakes but, a bit too technical (like mine) and could of been answered by saying "There are files necessary for the storage of data which are hidden/write protected on every storage media device so you will always get a different storage capacity reading depending on the device / Operating System being used to format the drive." - like the "virgin" answer. Yeah, it's an old question but, I just couldn't help myself.

Answer:	You guys are warm !! The heat generated is not from amperage, but from the tiny circuitry being forced into service. In comparison the USB path looks like a freeway to a straw - something like that. I RECOMMEND BUYING AN AUX DESK FAN - the USB 120mm multi-speed @~ 13USD is a decent enough amount of wind to keep a full size hard drive, that DOES use amperage (for the motor,) nice and cool - so it should work with what's plugged into your laptop or even a RAID deal going on. I'm just looking into this as the "next-vehicle" for ambitious dudes, deans, and danes. It is an effective alternative to an under-lappy cooler. Keep that air circulating! Another option is to heatsink it - if it can be done - maybe somebody sells somthing that will move the heat away by conduction and then radiate it - I can see an easy design. But you would sill want the fan on a hot day.

Answer:	I would do a clean format of it on the imac first, you can choose exFAT (it will work on both PC and mac) or you can choose Mac OS Extended (HFS+) which is more stable than exFAT, but you will need software on your PC to read/write to the drive. If the PC is your main machine I would just choose exFAT.

Answer:	Your iMac has USB 3.0 which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1. That has about half the theoretical maximum transfer rate of USB 3.1 Gen 2, which is the interface used by this drive. On the upside, it is still fully compatible with USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 and while the transfer rate you’ll experience will be lower than if you had a computer with Gen 2 USB, it really isn’t that much slower in actual use. If you’re moving from any spinning platter drive to an SSD regardless of the interface you were using with the platter drive, you will see a HUGE performance improvement using this external SSD drive.

Answer:	Did you download the update? It could be related to the base software on the drive being outdated.
Question:	Can I use this as an external backup drive? Is there a back up software included
Answer:	Do not use the Password Protection. If you just installed, you can disable the Password Protection feature on the Settings screen of the Samsung Portable SSD software as follows: Click the "Set" button on the Main screen, switch the "Lock" button from ON to OFF, enter a password, and save it. Otherwise you cannot expect unattended backup's.
Question:	How should this be formatted and setup to use as a boot drive for macintosh
Answer:	Even after reformatting as an OSX drive (it comes formatted for Windows), it cannot be used as an external boot drive. However, I used Drive Genius to format it as a "Bootwell" drive, and that seemed to enable it to be used as a boot drive. You will need to clone a current drive to the Samsung T5 if you want it to boot up with all the apps you used to have.

Answer:	Samsung website: * 5 years or TBW (250 GB: 75 TBW; 500 GB/1 TB: 150 TBW, 2/4 TB: 300 TBW), whichever comes first. So, for the 500 GB SSD, 150 terabytes can be written before there is an increased likelihood of failure. This depends on many factors, but mostly on how full the drive is. If the drive is nearly full, remaining free cells may be subjected to excessive writes.

The plastic versions only hide the fact that the inside is getting very hot, thermally transferred from the PC main board. So this is both a good thing and a bad. If you cannot touch it because your PC is hot inside -- it's bad.

Answer:	I tried it in a usb3 dock and didn't get nearly the performance others get hooking directly to sata. About 80Mbps average write speed backing up to capacity with HD video projects. Started out at around 270Mbps but that only lasted the 1st 20 sec or so. I get closer to 100Mbps average throughout with 7200 rpm Seagate laptop drives of same form factor and size. eSata might be a better bet and you won't need an enclosure... no circuitry is exposed as is.

Answer:	The sticks are not printed at all!. I bought 100 but some of them don't work and record.

Answer:	They can get very hot. I have the 128 GB and the 16 GB. Both get very hot so that it might be a problem to touch them after longer write operations.

Answer:	I have the 128 GB and the 16 GB. Both tested on several computers. At larger file transfers the writing speed goes down to 5 MB/s and even stops completely for some time. Desperately I tried all Windows file systems - there was pretty much no difference. I have so many SD cards and sticks - this product has the worst write performance I have ever seen.
