Question:	What am i missing, when i plug it in, nothing happens - my computer doesn't show it at all. do i need to download something
Answer:	I have two of these and am about to get a third. No, you don't need to download anything (at least on windows and linux computers). I reformat mine to NTFS because I switch between OS's. One thing to note the usb "A" adapter is "notched" and will only fit on one way completely, you probably got a bad one, it happens, send it back if no luck.

Answer:	Basically, my home setup is an all-Mac setup. What I did immediately after I got it out of the box was to format it and partition it 200 GB HFS+ and 800 GB APFS. The HFS+ partition is used for Time Machine, and the APFS partition has four volumes (capacity is allocated dynamically between volumes within the APFS partition). How I would use this in a mixed environment: one HFS+ partition for Time Machine (you can't use APFS partitions for Time Machine); one APFS partition for the files that will be used only with a Mac; and one ExFAT partition for instances where you need to be able to access the file in Windows and on a Mac. Also, make sure you keep that USB-C to USB-A connector that comes with the drive; it comes with about a 6-inch cable with USB-C connectors at both ends.

Answer:	YES! I have 2 that I use for this, be aware you may have to change your system setup to use, On mine I have to change SATA controller mode to AHCI from RAID and UEFI to Legacy support and boot priority to Legacy first (Lenovo). Once you have those setting fixed you will be amazed how fast it will run. I run fedora on a 1TB for storage and Fedora Securrity Spin on a 500 GB drive to use to recover data and fix customers machines. I have also run CentOS and Linux Mint with no issues.

Answer:	I would do a clean format of it on the imac first, you can choose exFAT (it will work on both PC and mac) or you can choose Mac OS Extended (HFS+) which is more stable than exFAT, but you will need software on your PC to read/write to the drive. If the PC is your main machine I would just choose exFAT.

Answer:	Your iMac has USB 3.0 which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1. That has about half the theoretical maximum transfer rate of USB 3.1 Gen 2, which is the interface used by this drive. On the upside, it is still fully compatible with USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 and while the transfer rate you’ll experience will be lower than if you had a computer with Gen 2 USB, it really isn’t that much slower in actual use. Answer:	I routinely use it with my S9. No additional hardware needed. Samsung designed it to work well with Samsung devices.

You might need to Google how to use an external drive, but the read/write speeds on this are exceptional (1GB/s), and the USB-C to USB-C cable it comes with is top-notch (as is the USB-C to USB-A cable). Obviously, you're going to want to be vary careful not to move the cables when in-use.
Question:	Will this ssd work as a external hard drive for ps
Answer:	Yes, you should be able to use this as an external drive for the PS5 and get full speed on it as long as you plug it into one of the USB 3.2 ports. However, you will still not be able to play PS5 games off of it. You can play PS4 games off of it with improved load times. Per Daniel Bastian's answer regarding the Xbox Series X. You can use the T7 on Series X, but you will not get the full speed. Series X uses USB 3.1 gen 1 ports, which are slower than this SSD. For Series X, you would be better off buying the T5 SSD.

Answer:	Reformatting this external SSD will not do anything to its cache. In any case, the cache is used only during read/write operations, you can’t directly address it as a user and don’t have to think about it at all. You can reformat in APFS for best Mac performance or use any other scheme you need, including multiple partitions each formatted differently.

Answer:	You should be able to access it thru the files app on an iPad or an iPhone as long as you have the correct cable. My iPad Pro will work great with it.
Question:	The posted dimensions do not seem correct when looking at user photos (4.34 inches x 2.24 inches x 1.68 inches). Is it really 1.68" high
Answer:	No - correct dimensions are 4.345" x 2.254" x 0.45" (just measured with my calipers) No clue how anyone could come up with 1.68 inches high. It's pretty small and faster than anything I've ever used.
Question:	Can I transfer smaller files
Answer:	Yes; you can think of 500GB as the drive's capacity (although the operation system will use up a tiny fraction of that total). You can use is just like any other hard drive. The only real difference is that it has no moving parts and the transfer rate is FAST!

Answer:	No; nothing is forever. Solid state disks have a maximum number of writes, referred to as TBW (terrabytes written) which are typically 65 to 150 TBW. SanDisk estimates about 65-80 TBW depending on device. Putting this in perspective, TBW stands for Terabytes Written. It can also be referred to as “endurance”. It is a metric indicated by hardware manufactures to state how many terabytes could be written to the solid state disk (SSD) during it’s lifetime. The TBW metric is an important one to look out for when buying an SSD as it indicates how long a drive can be operational and useful before needing to replace it with a new one. For example, if your drive has a capacity of 100 GB's, and the drive was rated at 100 TBW, then this means that the drive can be fully rewritten 1024 times! (1 Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes). Reading is forever, but writing is the limit... Solution: plan to replace the SSD when you approach the capacity metric for TBW... use the "old" drive as a read only archive. I used to do this for databases - put the data which is static on the SSD's for fast access and the dynamic data on the hard drives. The TBW rates are constantly improving and someday may be infinite, but we're definitely not at that point.

Answer:	It’s not “soft” or super flexible but I wouldn’t call it hard or stuff either. It’s a very fine mesh but somewhat rigid because of the size and the binding all around. We bought them to carry bar soap and shampoo while camping. They hang easily and allow the bar soaps to dry without loosing a lot of extra soap or getting dirty. They’ve worked well for that.

Answer:	The manufacturer said "no" here -- but note you can format this drive as FAT32, NTFS, EXT4, JOURNALED etc -- flash drives are formatted as these various filesystems as well, if your car only requires a FAT32 or ntsc formatted drive, it probably *can* work the way you're wanting, just make sure you format the drive as the filesystem type your car supports, I have NO IDEA why the manufacturer said no

Answer:	There are many factors which could impact your ability to use it in a car stereo, such as the format that the car stereo requires on a USB device, the power of that the Stereo USB is outputting as well as the type of files that it can read. We suggest first consulting the stereo maker to determine what format is required for the stereo to read a USB device as well as the power output of the stereo USB (the PNY Device requires at least 566 Mah for sustainable operation). Question:	Does this need to be formatted for mac before using. os high sierra
Answer:	I have a late 2013 27" iMac and the drive started going out. I installed MacOS to this drive and have been booting off of it for a few days without any trouble. I booted into recovery (Command + R when starting up) and did the install directly from there. I did reformat this external drive first as another person suggested (I hooked it up to my MacBook Pro), but with the recovery option you do have access to the Disk Utility so I probably could have done it there.

Answer:	You should be able to access it thru the files app on an iPad or an iPhone as long as you have the correct cable. My iPad Pro will work great with it.

Answer:	No - correct dimensions are 4.345" x 2.254" x 0.45" (just measured with my calipers) No clue how anyone could come up with 1.68 inches high. It's pretty small and faster than anything I've ever used.
Question:	Can you use this for PS
Answer:	Yes; you can think of 500GB as the drive's capacity (although the operation system will use up a tiny fraction of that total). You can use is just like any other hard drive. The only real difference is that it has no moving parts and the transfer rate is FAST!
Question:	How many hours of music can this hold
Answer:	No; nothing is forever. Solid state disks have a maximum number of writes, referred to as TBW (terrabytes written) which are typically 65 to 150 TBW. SanDisk estimates about 65-80 TBW depending on device. Putting this in perspective, TBW stands for Terabytes Written. It can also be referred to as “endurance”. It is a metric indicated by hardware manufactures to state how many terabytes could be written to the solid state disk (SSD) during it’s lifetime. The TBW metric is an important one to look out for when buying an SSD as it indicates how long a drive can be operational and useful before needing to replace it with a new one. For example, if your drive has a capacity of 100 GB's, and the drive was rated at 100 TBW, then this means that the drive can be fully rewritten 1024 times! (1 Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes). Reading is forever, but writing is the limit... Solution: plan to replace the SSD when you approach the capacity metric for TBW... use the "old" drive as a read only archive. I used to do this for databases - put the data which is static on the SSD's for fast access and the dynamic data on the hard drives. The TBW rates are constantly improving and someday may be infinite, but we're definitely not at that point.

Answer:	Did you download the update? It could be related to the base software on the drive being outdated.

Answer:	Do not use the Password Protection. If you just installed, you can disable the Password Protection feature on the Settings screen of the Samsung Portable SSD software as follows: Click the "Set" button on the Main screen, switch the "Lock" button from ON to OFF, enter a password, and save it. Otherwise you cannot expect unattended backup's.
Question:	How should this be formatted and setup to use as a boot drive for macintosh
Answer:	Even after reformatting as an OSX drive (it comes formatted for Windows), it cannot be used as an external boot drive. However, I used Drive Genius to format it as a "Bootwell" drive, and that seemed to enable it to be used as a boot drive. You will need to clone a current drive to the Samsung T5 if you want it to boot up with all the apps you used to have.
Question:	What is the tbw
Answer:	Samsung website: * 5 years or TBW (250 GB: 75 TBW; 500 GB/1 TB: 150 TBW, 2/4 TB: 300 TBW), whichever comes first. So, for the 500 GB SSD, 150 terabytes can be written before there is an increased likelihood of failure. This depends on many factors, but mostly on how full the drive is. If the drive is nearly full, remaining free cells may be subjected to excessive writes.

Answer:	I got it last summer, I believe, was going to use it mostly for video and photos editing, audio production and editing. Wasn’t as fast as it said in the listing and wasn’t the best price for an SSD. I returned it and got a deal on Woot! for a 1Tb XPG SSD by ADATA. It’s smaller, faster, and I’ve been using it ever since.

Answer:	Yes it can be used as "Startup Disk". I just did that on my older iMac and what a difference! The computer now runs very fast. This thing rocks.

Answer:	It is a 3 bit and a very nice addition. . I use it for my Acronis backup. It is fast and haven't had any issues with it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an external drive.
