According to how the operating system (and the rest of the computing world) calculates it, it's equal to 1,024 megabytes, which in turn are equal to 1,024 kilobytes, which are themselves equal to 1,024 bytes. So one GB as per the disk manufacturer is really 1,000,000,000 / (1,024 x 1,024 x 1,024) = .931GB as measured by everybody else. So a "500GB" disk has 500 x .931GB of storage, or 465GB. This isn't because your system isn't showing some available storage or because the formatting lost storage - it's just the byproduct of the disk manufacturers exaggerating the storage capacity. Answer: Five years is plenty, and realistically a normal person will never use it up in that amount of time. The life of the drive is determined by the number of read/write cycles the flash memory can support. I've had an EVO for 3 years now and it's great. Even if it broke after 5 years, an identical replacement would cost pennies on the dollar. With computers, I only buy power supplies with long warranties so I can use them on 2-3 system upgrades over 10 years.

Answer: If you are referring to the HP ProBook 6540b then your money would be better spent on ram that is the correct speed to match your unit. The specs say the ram that comes in that unit runs at 1333Mhz, which is pc3-10600, not pc3-12800. It would be a waste to buy 1600Mhz ram as it will only run as fast as your pc is designed to unfortunately. Hope this info helps your decision. :)

Answer: The Acer A515-54-51DJ supports up to 20GB system memory.
Question: can you add a second hdd or ssd and if so how big
Answer: I tried a 750GB HDD which was recognized, formatted, and worked fine, but didn't fit very well in the secondary drive bay … too thick to allow the bottom cover to close properly/completely. I pulled it out and replaced with a 1TB SSD (SanDisk) that both fit fine in the drive bay, and works perfect. I think the BIOS will accept larger SSD's, but I haven't actually tried that, so would have to refer you to Acer customer support on that question, e.g., what's the largest capacity SSD you can put in the secondary drive bay?
Question: I'd like to add a second ssd, what kind of ssd exactly should I buy
Answer: There is one M.2 SSD slot which has the 256GB SSD. There is one 2.5" slot for a SATA or form factor SSD drive. You need to remove the bottom case assembly to access those slots.
Question: Can i add corsair vengeance lpx 16gb (2 x 8gb) ddr4 dram 3600mhz (pc4-28800) c18 kit to expand its memory later

Question: is there a user guide available
Answer: There is one (Help) that comes with the Chromebook apps installed, there is also settings, but as far as the actual computer goes, like most new devices and such, you have to go online and search with make, model and see. There is usually a user manual you can download. Hope this helps.
Question: Can I use this plugged in
Answer: ther than being a nuisance dragging a cord and charge pack with you, yes you can use it plugged in without problems. But the point of a Chromebook is the long-lasting battery. I've used it without plugging in and it lasted about 9 hours. And since it is so portable you can charge it in your car if you use an adapter and your car is a newer model which accepts USB or micro chargers.
Question: Can you use an external monitor
Answer: It has an HDMI port, so yes, you can connect another monitor. HDMI/VGA/DVI/DisplayPort (DP)...these are ALL monitor hookups. Never seen a monitor hook up USB, but that may be a possibility as well.
Question: can i play fortnite
Answer: Yes. In fact It is the best gameplay with a mouse to be played on a laptop. Just connect a mouse and you will be all set.
