Multi-format TV tuner with NTSC and analog video

Record your favorite TV programs on your Windows PC with WinTV-HVR-1265 and the included WinTV v8 application. Watch, pause and record ATSC and clear QAM HD digital TV. NTSC TV is also supported with recording using Hauppauge's SoftPVR MPEG-2 encoder.

The WInTV v8.5 application for Windows has a built-in TV program scheduler. We support the TitanTV program guide in the US, so you can automatically schedule your TV recordings.

TV standards supported

WinTV-HVR-1265 support three TV formats: ATSC, clear QAM and NTSC. In addition, it also supports analog video input via S-Video or composite video.

ATSC is the over-the-air digital HDTV standard for North America and typically requires an antenna for reception.

Clear QAM digital cable allows users to watch unencrypted HDTV stations from their cable TV provider without a set-top box.

NTSC is the analog cable TV standard.

Analog video recordings use Hauppauge's SoftPVR to record MPEG-2 video on your PC. You can use S-Video, composite video and stereo audio.

Question:	can you plug this straight into a cable line coming into your house
Answer:	Only if it is attached to an antenna. If it is a line with "cable" service this is the wrong tuner card for you. You need one that has a tuner for "cable" channels, not just ATSC over the air channels. Hauppauge has cards with both. The part number usually has an "H" in them and you'll see two F-connectors on the card, one for an antenna for ATSC over the air channels, one for cable channels. An old card, that had this was WINTV-HVR1600. It is so old it is ISA, not PCI.
Question:	If i do not have cable, what more do i need to buy to access local stations (abc, nbc, cbs
Answer:	an antenna, big enough to receive your local stations (depending on your distance from their transmission point, obstacles in the way, and height that you can mount antenna (22 -24 feet is preferred)), probably will need in line amplifier depending on the distance between your antenna and your computer (if greater than 25-50 feet), and you should already have Windows Media Center installed. When you upgrade to Windows 10, you can use the Hauppauge WinTV8 software instead of WMC.

Answer:	Old question, but I'll answer anyway. When I could no longer run Windows Media Center, I could only find one product that offered the same functionality as WMC, specifically the ability to have a movies only guide. And that product is J River Media Center. It is as good as or better than WMC, although it take more effort to configure it for some functionality. And it records into the TS format, which can be played on practically any media play, such as Roku, Fire TV, Shield, or any of the inexpensive Android boxes. It's not free, but it's not really that expensive.

Answer:	No, this is not a low profile card. There is no such low profile bracket from the package....
Question:	Does this card work with Windows 10, 64-bit
Answer:	It worked on my Windows 10 pc. All I had to do was download the drivers and software from the disk, then manually go into device manager and search for the drivers through windows. The device should be listed under “other devices” as a multimedia card. Once you do that, the tvr software license key is in a text file inside the disk. Then I had a weird audio glitch that may or may not be windows 10 related, where there was a rhythmic thinking sound. You have to manually change the audio output in the settings and restart the software.

Answer:	No, the TVR software only allows one video feed to be displayed at a time.
