Here's the thing: You have to dig into the *video* input capture settings, where you'll find a Mute checkbox, which defaults to enabled. You'll want to uncheck that, then audio capture will work. Audio capture via PulseAudio may also be crackly and broken, in which case, it's advised to use pavucontrol to disable PulseAudio for the capture device, and use ALSA directly.

Question:	What version of Honestech for PC does this package contain? 5.0, 5.0HD, 5.0 Deluxe, 7.0, 7.0 Deluxe or 8.0 Deluxe or
Answer:	This package includes the VHStoDVD 7.0 Plus (for PC) and Video Conversion for Mac. The only difference between the 7.0 Plus and 7.0 Deluxe is that the Plus version does not include the Blu-ray burning.
Question:	Do you have to play the movie as it converts? does it take convert in high speed or does it take the full movie length time
Answer:	To answer your first question: Yes you have to play the movie as it converts otherwise if you fast forward it it might record you fast forwarding it. Unfortunately there's no work around on that. To answer your second question, no it doesn't convert in high speed unless you have a Solid State Drive and have 16 GB RAM or more then it might, but that's just an educated guess. Otherwise it depends on the length of the tape. The longest I had to record was 2 hours and 28 minutes. The shortest I had to record was 5 minutes. Also it depends on well taken care of and clean the tape is, I noticed the first time I did a tape it kept destabilizing after cleaning the tape it stabilized perfectly the conversion was very smooth.
Question:	What digital formats does it convert them to? .AVI, MP4, MOV, MPG, etc
Answer:	The following are the video import formats; VCD, SVCD, DVD file, DVD DL file, Long DVD file, Long DVD DL file, WMV File, MPEG-1 File, MPEG-2 File.
Question:	I have a bunch of 8MM tapes that my father-in-law watches on his VCR with a Minolta cassette adaptor AD-2. Will this converter work with those
Answer:	YES. ANY input via RCA jacks works! That includes cable and other gadgets.My first project was running through a VHS tape. BE WARNED that you'll need to convert the finished video to whatever you want to burn it too, but as a video file, I recommend that you just save it to a drive. Some fast movement was not smooth, but the image quality is excellent overall. I am reconverting old home VHS with this!

Answer:	No. The device requires a VCR to record from. The VCR simply plays the tape, and this device records it in digital format. Hope this helps!

Answer:	If I understand your question correctly, I converted 2 hours length of 8mm tape to MP4 file size 3GB. So, if you have 120 tapes to be converted, then, 1TB hard drive should be more than sufficient. I hope this answers your question.

Question:	Does this work with windows 7 64bit
Answer:	I use it on Windows 8.1 on my desktop. Haven't tried it on the laptop with Windows 7.It does record. But after wasting a couple of disks found out I need to use 8.5gb DVD+r disks. Got 50 more blank disks today and will start transferring some more of my vhs. I have several DVD burning software programs. But only have gotten one to burn off so far. Waited until I got some more blanks before trying again. And I had to use it in compatibility mode to make it work with Windows 8.1. It was a pain but I'll see how the next one goes.
Question:	The device is not being recognised by my Windows 10 machine , it used to work. What can I do to get the device to be recognised
Answer:	Hard to say. It could be a USB port issue on your W10 machine. A complete restart and device USB re-insertion may help. It could be a device USB/cord issue. If this is the case, just contact the seller and ask for replacement or refund. As far as the software included with the device, it may not be top of the line, but (in my case) it does what it said it would - transfer MINI-DV files to my laptop in MP4 format. Besides, your issue sounds more like a hardware problem. Try the restart/reinsert (into a different port, too)first. If that doesn't work, ask for a refund. Good luck!

Answer:	I tried several youtube tutorials, blog tutorials, and about 15 drivers all in all. I couldn't get it to work in Windows 10 or 8.1. The included CD is for WIndows 7 and XP.
