Answer:	The mixed answers here might be because of the following behavior: You have to plug the device into the usb port *AFTER* launching the application. If the device is already plugged in then it does not record any sound. Answer:	Yeah, it will work. Copy protection on VHS only kicks in when you are trying to dub from tape-to-tape. When doing output to the computer for a digital conversion, the VCR thinks it's playing the movie for viewing. The signal is going through the same output. I haven't used this for a copy protected VHS (I don't think I have a VHS movie that I haven't been able to find on DVD) but I'm sure it will work.

Here's the thing: You have to dig into the *video* input capture settings, where you'll find a Mute checkbox, which defaults to enabled. You'll want to uncheck that, then audio capture will work. Audio capture via PulseAudio may also be crackly and broken, in which case, it's advised to use pavucontrol to disable PulseAudio for the capture device, and use ALSA directly.

Answer:	Yes, the one I got certainly did. It also worked fine on Linux.However, I did not try the CD at all. I just plugged it in and let Windows 10 install drivers and I used OBS Studio (open source freeware) to capture the video.
