User questions & answers

Question: will it fit in a 2008 20 in iMac motherboard socket
Answer: unless the processor socket is 1155 no, make a hackintosh if you want something with power that has apple software.
Question: I have a Joshua-H61-uATX (Joshua) motherboard will this processor work
Answer: according to info on that board (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03135925#N129) it will work. only issue you may encounter is overclocking. that is, the board does not have overclocking ability. personally, i think an unlocked cpu in a board that doesn't support overclocking is a waste of time and money. but that is just me. again, it will work. check the link and you will see that it states 'Intel Core i5-3xxx (Ivy Bridge) Quad Core up to 77 W' and the i5 3570k meet these specs.
Question: Does the Processor come with a Fan, Heatsink, and Thermal Paste or do I have to buy either or all of those separately
Answer: Mr. Torres, it comes with all those. Thermal grease is almost always applied to CPU heatsinks these days. However, if you're technically inclined, I highly recommend getting a third-party grease like Arctic Silver 5. Only in the case when a processor is named as an OEM part or CPU Only will it be just that and nothing else. Should you replace your stock HSF unit for an aftermarket one, I recommend the Hyper 212 Plus. It's an exquisite HSF that works very well.
Question: Does this processor have Hyperthreading
Answer: Sadly, it does not. It's a quad core CPU with 4 virtual cores (threads). Meaning that there is only 1 thread per core, not 2. But for more information you can visit http://techexperience.net/go/intel/

User questions & answers

Question: What's the chipset
Answer: Intel's website says this is for 100 series chipsets. So if you see a socket LGA 1151 it will often be paired with z170 or h110 chipsets depending on motherboard specs. Make sure socket is 1151 and chipset is numbered in 100's and you're good to go.
Question: is there a coller too
Answer: I didn't get a cooler and the information in this q&a led my astray now returning
Question: Can this handle 4k video playback and editing
Answer: Yes it can handle it, playback no problem, but if editing is your main use of the computer and the time it takes is important, consider using a 5930K (or the new 6850K), a dedicated graphics card, and an X99 board. As other posters mentioned, GPU rendering will make a lot of difference. If I was talking to a customer who was doing 4k rendering professionally I would not recommend purchase of an I5 6500. Best of luck with your build, however you decide.
Question: Does it come with a cpu cooler

User questions & answers

Question: I have a socket 1156. What is the fastest cpu I can get
Answer: For 1156 the faster procesor its a any i7 3.4 hz or more and also any extreme i7 but its more spensive
Question: is this z
Answer: The processor itself isn't z77. z77 is a chipset. I guessing you're asking if z77 is compatible with this processor. The answer is yes. Here is a list of all chipsets compatible with Socket LGA 1155 processors: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1155The Z77 chipset is the most popular (and featured-packed) of the chipset for LGA 1155 for the simple reason it allow the users to "to spend countless hours" overclocking their CPU, GPU, and RAM. Then reporting their results back to the internet. Another noticeable features is that it allows dual graphics card support, and essentially every combination of PCI 3.0 support: 1x16, 2x18 or the interesting 1x8 + 2x4. This was probably the most important feature for me as I can buy a decent priced GPU today and in a year or so when the price has dropped I can buy another one and pair them up in SLI.If overclocking the CPU or RAM doesn't interested you and you feel one GPU is plenty then you should be able to easily move down to the cheaper H77 or Q77 motherboards. The only difference between those too is that Q77 has legacy PCI support.
Question: Which is better, this or the 3820? I don't plan to overclock and debating which to get
Answer: LGA2011 is better ONLY if:- you need 64GB RAM- you need triple/quad-SLI/CF- you run extremely memory-bandwidth intensive programs- you run massively threaded programs that can leverage a hex-core/12-thread CPUFor 99% of people, LGA2011 is overkill and completely useless since mainstream applications and games have no use for the extra cores, memory or memory bandwidth.
Question: Can i put this thing in a lenovo g51? my friend has a lenovo g50 and he has the same thing as me but his computer came with this beast
Answer: According to Lenovo the G-51 laptop uses an AMD A8 type processor, which has a totally different socket than the Intel I7 3770. So the Intel I7 3770 quad core processor will not work in the Lenovo G51 laptop. Michael. More information is available on http://techexperience.net/go/intel/

User questions & answers

Question: what Kind of motherboard will I need with this processor
Answer: You need a motherboard with an LGA 1150 socket to work with any of the Ivy Bridge chips (i3/5/7-4xxx). However, for this particular processor I'd recommend a motherboard that also has a Z87 chipset. LGA 1150 motherboards can come with several different chipsets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#LGA_1150) and the Z87 is the one meant for the higher end processors. As others mentioned, be mindful of the motherboard size as well and make sure it fits your case.
Question: Does this product include a stock fan, or am I required to purchase one? [screwed up my last question, I apologize]
Answer: Why would you purchase a $329 premium CPU and then rely on a stock cheap terrible fan? Do yourself the favor and take 15% of your investment on this CPU and buy at least a $45 cooler. Liquid cooling without reservoirs have really come down in price too ~$40-$70 depending on what level of OC you want to do.
Question: comes with cooler fan
Answer: The bundled fan and heatsink (and thermal paste) are pretty much the bare minimum necessary to get by for "average" computing. It works, but it does not keep the CPU very cool under demanding CPU loads. In fact, I think the CPU runs hotter than necessary even when idling using Intel's bundled fan and heatsink.Good third party fans and heatsinks aren't that expensive and do a significantly better job of keeping the CPU cool. If you're using the computer for "average" uses for a few hours a day and turn it off (or put it to sleep) when finished, you can get away with the stock cooler. If you use the computer for extended periods, for heavy CPU loads (not just games), or you want to overclock the CPU the stock cooler and thermal paste aren't good enough. If you're spending $300 or more on a CPU, spending $30 to $40 on a good cooler is money well spent to ensure the long life of your investment. Don't forget to pick up some really good thermal paste (Arctic Silver) as well. This is the stuff that actively transfers the heat from the CPU to the heatsink, so you'll need the good stuff to ensure maximum heat transfer and heat dissipation and it doesn't cost that much.
Question: I'm looking to upgrade from a i7 920, and it looks like some pretty good gains for me. Anyone have experience with upgrading some from an old gen
Answer: Hi. Amadeus was pretty much dead on point. I still have my Gateway FX, that was a first gen i7 920, that I upgraded to a 960. Also have a GTX 560Ti crad in there and it handles games quite well. I built this rig in the Fall of '11 with an i7 2600k mounted on an ASUS P8Z68-VPro Motherboard. Have ordered an i7 4770k CPU and ASUS Z87 Pro Motherboard to upgrade this thing. I am already running an EVGA GTX 680 Signature Video card in here. The one upside is the 4770k had a lower TDP ( 84w ) than the 2600k ( 95w ). Not really gaing much on the speed though, 3.4 Ghz to 3.5 Ghz. I have never run an i5, but they are an excellent choice for someone building on a budget and wants performance. I recommend them often on the forums I moderate for someone on a budget. In short, to go from where you are now to where you want to go, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by upgrading.

User questions & answers

Question: Are they all the same thing and come with a heatsink
Answer: Used processor does not come with anything. The CPU itself is the same.
Question: what waatage is cpu...65...95 or mor be very usefull to know that on sell page as my sysyem can only handle 65 watt no more
Answer: This chip should have G0 stepping which would mean it's 95 watts. Without G0 stepping the Q6600 is rated at 105. The q6700 is offered only as a G0 version at 95 watts.
Question: Can i use this to replace core 2 duo
Answer: you need a LGA 775 socket that supports this Q6600, not all core 2 duo motherboards support the quad-core type cpu, you need to verify this with your motherboards manufacturer, btw the speed boost you will get will be minimal, the Q6600 will only handle more task's but at a slow 2.4ghz speed and the best overclock you can get it is at 3GHZ, but the power consumption can go way up for that minimal speed increase. My recommendation is just go with a newer machine, i changed my Q6600 for a core i3 2100 which is a dual core with hyper threading and it was way faster and more greener than the q6600(blew my mind), another note is that they call this cpu the first quad core for mass consumers but it was not the case, intel put inside two core 2 duos on this chip, yes two E6600 and thats why it gets so hot, its not a true quad core architecture, you need a core i5 for a real boost in speed and performance(real quad core). Stay with your core 2 duo until you can afford a decent core i3 or core i5, that Q6600 had many temperature issues and the slow speed and low DDR3 support killed it faster.
Question: Can I use it on Dell
Answer: Your currect cpu is a dual core intel pentium e6700 its clock speed is faster at 3.2 ghz same socket type lga775 so yes it will work. For more information visit http://techexperience.net/go/intel/
