Answer:	It should work with Windows 8 though I only used with Windows 10. If you insert a DVD and a video player does not start up, you may need a player that will recognize the drive. On a recommendation from a friend, I installed "VLC media player" and this app opens when I insert a DVD into the Riodadas player. Answer:	I tried plugging it directly into the TV, but it did not work. However, if you plug it into a laptop, play it on the laptop, and plug the laptop into the TV with an HDMI cord, it works just fine.

Answer:	No it doesn't. That's why its so cheap. I used my old VCR as a tuner to record tv shows to DVDs, I don't have a DVR so I can't say. If you have a cable box it should work, a cable box/satellite box is a tuner.
