Answer:	It should work with Windows 8 though I only used with Windows 10. If you insert a DVD and a video player does not start up, you may need a player that will recognize the drive. On a recommendation from a friend, I installed "VLC media player" and this app opens when I insert a DVD into the Riodadas player. Though CDs and DVDs are still among the most commonly used media types, more and more computer manufacturers are choosing to leave optical drives out of their new models. If you still use these media types, or even newer optical media types such as Blu-ray discs or M-Discs, you may find yourself in the position of needing to buy a separate optical drive, and there are several things to consider.

Internal vs. External

Optical drives can either be internal or external, and it’s an important choice when deciding which optical drive to buy. Internal drives are actually placed inside your computer, connected via an IDE or SATA port. Internal drives are usually more affordable and have higher read/write speeds. However, installation can be difficult and for some laptops, impossible, given the ultra-slim profile of some newer models.

External drives, on the other hand, exist outside of your computer and connect to your computer via a USB or FireWire port. They can either pull power from your computer itself or from a separate power outlet. Typically, they are more compact, more portable, and can fit easily into a laptop bag. However, due to external connectivity, they may have slightly lower read/write speeds compared to internal drives.

Formats

Another important factor in deciding which drive to buy is the format you want to work in. Today most drives work with multiple formats, but it is still important to make sure the drive you’re buying is compatible with the media types you want to use. Answer:	Dec. 21, 2020: I have been unable to use this player. I wanted to return in but since it has so many positive reviews I decided to hang on to it and keep trying but it still is not working. Am I doing something wrong? I have an all-in-one HP with Windows 10 and it usually plays DVDs flawlessly but the DVD 'door' came off and it no longer works so I purchased this...it does not work. The disc goes in, then it makes all these grinding sounds and then-nothing. It stops. Before I throw it in the trash-any suggestions?

Almost all older operating systems contain an internal driver program that can recognize the CD drive directly without installation. • If your computer could not recognize the external device, please first check the power supply, the drive will need a 3-5V(1.3-2A) output from your computer's usb port.

Answer:	Hi Ricko,If the Tv has an HDMI input available you go from DVD player hdmi out to the TV using an HDMI cable if not RCA audio & video which are yellow for video Red for right side audio & white for left side audio. Look at the back of your directive box if it has an s video out use that for video to the dvd player & RCA audio cable red/white for sound. If the directive box does not have an S video out then use RCA cable.for audio & video.
Question:	Will this work with an ipad pro
Answer:	Yes, that is what I use it for exclusively. First I record a program on my dvr, then I play the DVR'd program while recording on the Toshiba. I have a component cable (3 prongs) that runs from my cable box (video, audio L and audio R out) to my Toshiba (video, audio L and audio R in). Works great. This also allows me to control when I start and stop the recording. Sometimes a movie will not last a full two hours, but will stop 10 minutes before to show "coming attractions," etc.
Question:	Can i load software onto my mac with this? mac no longer makes computers with a drive and i need to load some software that is not downloadable
Answer:	If you don't have a cable or satellite receiver and are receiving your tv signals with an antenna, you either have a tv with a digital tuner or a separate digital tuner/ converter box connected to your tv. If you're using a digital converter box from your antenna to the tv, connect the outputs from the digital converter box into the inputs of Toshiba DR430 Recorder and then connect the outputs of the recorder to the TV inputs. You will be connecting from the video (yellow jack), audio (red & white jacks) to the same colored jacks in & out from the Toshiba DVD Recorder to an input on the TV. If you're not using a digital converter box already for your local stations, you will have to buy one to connect to the Toshiba Recorder to record local shows because the recorder does not have a tuner in it. You can buy them for about $30 bucks at Wal-Mart or Radio Shack. I gave you a lot of information but it's easy to setup. They can guide you at Radio Shack. I have one box hooked just this way and it works fine. Hope this was of help.

Answer:	There is NO such thing as HDMI input on a DVD recorder. Part of HDMI is to prevent end users from recording copyrighted material so you will never see an hdMI input on anything but a TV.

Answer:	There are a few different ways that you can connect a cable box to the DMR-ES25S. I've mainly used the composite RCA outputs (red, white, and yellow cables) to connect with. Answer:	The DVD recorder's input connections are RF (coax), composite, and S-video. S-video is analog. If you have S-video output from your computer, and separate audio to the RCA jacks, it probably would work. Haven't tried it. If you're thinking about recording protected signals (say, play a protected DVD on your computer and record on the DVD Recorder), don't expect that would work because the electronics typically disrupt those signals from being recorded.
