Question:	How could I have an ethernet line shared between my two laptops
Answer:	I use one and it works pretty well. Now and then it will get squirrely, but it is pretty rare and is fixed with a cycle of the switch

Answer:	I think KVM is more of a keyword to help search, but so far I have been able to hookup many different mouse, keyboards, external USB cards, drives, printers and it has recognized them all.
Question:	Would switching the input cause loss of signal to the secondary monitor on Windows 10 causing windows to be rearranged
Answer:	Most KVM switches only support the default USB polling rate of 125Hz (essentially check the keyboard for a button press 125 times per second) Gaming mice and keyboards will operate at this rate, but most would prefer to run at 1000Hz. If you pressed a keyboard button right after the polling, there could be 8ms of latency before the activity is reported, vs 1ms if you plugged into the system directly. You would not be able to feel this as a delay. Latency is complicated: Most gamers can't phyically activate a peripheral for 8ms or less due to the mechanics of keyboard or mouse button presses. Each game is coded differently. Net code, network latency, and frame rate are much more impactful on latency than USB polling, but USB polling exists in front of these other causes. If you just need to occasionally change a streaming setting or chat on a second PC and don't want to impact your gaming experienced then plug your peripherals directly into your gaming PC and use a software KVM, like Input Director, to switch to the second PC via hotkey.
