Answer:	I had this issue too. You have to disconnect it from your device then reconnect it with the charging cable plugged into it. That should fix your problem.
Question:	Charging does not work when using flash drive. Why
Answer:	Even though they say it does, it absolutely does not work with my I=Phone 8, or my I-Pad Pro 12.9 2nd Gen. The lightning connections tip is made different. It fits, but does not make connection, or activate whenever you put a USB flash drive, or Memory Card into the ports. It appears that I wasted my money. It would be better to spend the extra with Apple and get the proper device for the I-Phones/ I-Pads period.
