12 best vertical mouses
Vertical mice are a type of computer mouse designed to offer ergonomic benefits by allowing the user's hand to adopt a more natural handshake position, as opposed to the traditional horizontal mouse. Here's what you should know about vertical mice:
Ergonomic Design: Vertical mice are ergonomically designed to reduce strain on the wrist and forearm. They allow the hand to rest in a neutral "handshake" position, which can help alleviate discomfort and reduce the risk of conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries (RSI).
Hand Orientation: These mice are typically designed for either left-handed or right-handed users. It's essential to choose a model that suits your dominant hand for maximum comfort and functionality.
Button Layout: Vertical mice often feature a different button layout compared to traditional mice. The buttons are typically positioned to accommodate the hand's natural grip, and they may include additional programmable buttons for customizing functions.
Sensitivity and DPI: Many vertical mice offer adjustable sensitivity settings, often measured in DPI (dots per inch). This allows users to control cursor movement speed and precision, making them suitable for various tasks, including gaming.
Connectivity: Vertical mice can be wired or wireless, just like traditional mice. Wired models connect via USB, while wireless options use Bluetooth or proprietary wireless technology. The choice of connectivity depends on personal preference and specific use cases.
Scroll Wheel: The scroll wheel on vertical mice is usually oriented vertically, making it easier to navigate long web pages or documents. Some models also offer customizable scroll wheel options.
Battery Life: If you opt for a wireless vertical mouse, consider its battery life. Most wireless models come with rechargeable batteries or use standard batteries, and the battery life can vary significantly between models.
Compatibility: Ensure that the vertical mouse you choose is compatible with your operating system (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and any specific software requirements you may have.
Brand and Model Variations: Various brands manufacture vertical mice, and there are several models to choose from. Popular brands in this category include Logitech, Anker, and ErgoVertical. Each may have its own unique features and design elements.
Price Range: The price of vertical mice varies depending on factors such as brand, features, and build quality. There are budget-friendly options as well as premium models with advanced features.
In summary, vertical mice are designed with ergonomics in mind to provide a more comfortable and natural hand position while using a computer mouse. They can be particularly beneficial for individuals who spend long hours at a computer and want to reduce the risk of wrist and forearm discomfort. When choosing a vertical mouse, consider factors like hand orientation, button layout, sensitivity, and connectivity to find the best fit for your needs.

User questions & answers
Question: | does this mouse recharge batteries if you can connect a usb cable |
Answer: | No, but this thing does not use that much power even at 1600 dpi, I change batteries every 8-12 months . Buy a pack of amazon triple AAA and you'll have enough batteries for life. Great mouse I use for gaming (CODCW/BF4) and in the office for graphic design. Great mouse, not cheap at almost $30 but best in it's price range. Light weight rubbery feel. |
Question: | Does this work with OSX Mavericks? Is there a work around to get the thumb buttons to work |
Answer: | So, I just bought this on 8/2020. I'm on a mac and the back/forward thumb buttons are working normally out of the box; I didn't do anything. I knew they weren't suppose to, but perhaps Anker fixed this? |
Question: | How is its battery life |
Answer: | Depends on usage, I'd guess, but my mouse has been working well ever since I bought it (8-10-2015), without needing batteries replaced very often, at all. Recently, I noticed it was needing batteries more often, so just to be sure, I dated the last pair I put in - 3.5 months ago. I was annoyed to have to change them again so soon, as I've usually long since forgotten about batteries, the next time it dies, but this time was close enough to recall. I put in the new batteries, but the mouse was still dead. Not sure if the old batteries are even dead yet (but the mouse is, hence my being here looking to replace it). If you consider 3.5 months to be a fast death to the batteries, then this is the shortest time to death I've had in the 5 years I've had this mouse. Lots of others seem cool with it needing changing every 2 months, but I found 3.5 a bit soon, so just depends on expectations. I kinda think close to a year is more like it. Of course, I only use my mouse 3-5 hours a day, 7 days a week, so perhaps I've just been really lucky so far. Either way, 5 years is by far the longest I've ever had a mouse last (by about 4 years!), and the money I save on annual mouse replacement will more than offset any battery usage issues that may develop. I also like the feel of this mouse better. Once you get used to it, you will too. Certainly helps with my wrist problems (carpal tunnel), and arthritis). |
Question: | I have small hands and also wrist pain problem from traditional mouse. Is this a good option for me |
Answer: | I have small hands as well. It is not the best size for me. Too BIG. For more information about my hand size, Logitech m310 and m325 is too small. Logitech m705 is a little big. Logitech m510 and m525 is good to grab but ther are heavy because of 2AA batteries. TeckNet 2600DPI Bluetooth Wireless Mouse is the best size I've found so far. I hope Anker produces a smaller version of it. Regarding wrist pain, it is helpful if you are well adapted in this weird shaped mouse. |

Answer: | I have no experience with the logitech vertical mouse but I do have two broken evoluent mice and they both lasted a little over a year. Both experienced button failures and the wireless one always had issues with pairing. I'm currently considering this logitech as a replacement based on my experience with my 15 year old wired logitech and my 8 year old wireless logitech mice that refuse to die. |
Question: | Does this have the Hyperscroll wheel |
Answer: | The scroll wheel on this mouse does not have the ability to free scroll seen on other mouses in the MX line such as the MX Master. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you adjust dpi with the dpi button, and how do you know what dpi the mouse is set at |
Answer: | According to the instruction manual at Anker's website."When adjusting DPI to the first level (800 DP), the blue LED bar will blink once, when adjusting to the second level, the blue LED bar will blink twice, etc." |
Question: | Is it left-hand friendly |
Answer: | No. You would have to contort your hand to use it in your left hand. This contortion would be even worse (greater deviation from a neutral hand position) than if a left-handed individual used a traditional mouse. Hopefully they make a left hand version as lefties do make up an estimated 8-10% of the world population (Barsley, 1970). |
Question: | What do you mean: Mac OS X (The two thumb buttons are not recognized on the Mac OS X) ... which buttons won't work? The right and left as per photo |
Answer: | The thumb buttons are recognized on Mac OS as a 4th & 5th button, they just don't work (out of the box) on fwd/back. You can map them in system preferences to Mission Control functions (like show windows, etc.) or you can get the free BetterTouchTool software and map them to any keyboard shortcut (such as fwd/back or copy/paste, etc.) you'd like. |
Question: | how comfortable is for large hands |
Answer: | 6'5" and if I hold it such that my palm is supported by the back of the mouse, i.e. the webbing of my thumb is actually touching the back of the mouse, like you see in most pictures, my fingers overshoot the end by a whole segment. It's way too small for me. Basically I either have to move my fingers back and have the back of my hand be unsupported with a really awkward thumb grip or have a nice grip support while clicking with the middle segments of my fingers. Hold your hand out facing upward and measure from the tip of your index finger to just passed the bump where your knuckle is. Mine is ~12.5cm which I feel is about 2cm too long for this mouse. So if you're like 10.5 or maybe even 11 or less it will probably be more comfortable, lengthwise anyway. Also the height of the mouse is such that I have to scrunch my fingers so they don't touch the mouse pad. Knuckle to knuckle I'm about 9cm across, and I wish the mouse was about 1 or 2 cm taller. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it have right click features |
Answer: | Yes! right & left click and scroll wheel in center. Very nice mouse with a good feel. |
Question: | What's the dpi resolution of this |
Answer: | As far as I can see from my paperwork etc., (saved for 5 year warranty): DPI is 1000 |
Question: | What is the width of the mouse (measuring across the base at its widest point), length (another customer said 4.5"), and height (at highest point |
Answer: | Width: 2 5/16", Length: 4 5/8", Height 1 9/16" Length is not an easy answer as this is a corded mouse and a portion of the cord coming out of the mouse is really to stiff to bend easily and measures an extra 1/4" |
Question: | Does this mouse have a really long cord? I need one with a shorter cord, as I am using it for my laptop. Thank you |
Answer: | Yes, it's pretty long, approximately 165 cm (65 inches). I'm using it for my laptop too, but I keep the mouse on the right and I attach the cord on a USB port on the left, so that the cord remains behind the laptop screen. Hope this help! |

Question: | Battery life? Does it last longer than 1 year |
Answer: | I have not been able top get more than two months out of the battery, but then I use the mouse more than 15 hours a day everyday. Your mileage may vary. I have never had a battery powered mouse last a year on batteries. I have been using battery mice for 10 years at least. |
Question: | If it sleeps, does it awake with movement or do you have to push a button |
Answer: | Push a button |
Question: | What's the dimension of the mouse? Is it good for small hand |
Answer: | I have pretty small hands and works well for me. It’s about 4”-4.5” from where it sits between your thumb and forefinger to the end. 5”-5.5” overall length. About 3” at its widest point. It’s hard to measure because of its curve. I’m a small in a glove. From the tip of my middle finger to my wrist my hand is just shy of 7”. |
