Answer:	I'm not familiar with DVI-I card or port. The key is that one end is DisplayPort and the other end is VGA. You would need another adapter that goes from DVI-I to VGA I would suspect.

If the resolution of your laptop is higher than the external monitor, please refer to below steps:

Windows Menu--> Setting--> Display--> Advanced Display Settings, set your laptop's resolution same as or lower the resolution of external monitor.
