BD SATA power cables are cables commonly used in computer hardware setups. These cables fall under the category of SATA cables and are related to computer accessories and peripherals. Here's what you can generally expect from BD SATA power cables:

  1. SATA Cables: SATA stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment, and it is a standard interface used to connect storage devices such as hard drives, solid-state drives (SSDs), and optical drives to a computer's motherboard. SATA cables come in two main types: SATA data cables and SATA power cables. BD SATA power cables specifically refer to the power cables used to provide power to SATA devices.

  2. Power Supply: BD SATA power cables are typically used to connect SATA devices to the power supply unit (PSU) of a computer. These cables are designed to deliver the necessary electrical power to the connected storage devices, allowing them to operate.

  3. Compatibility: BD SATA power cables are likely designed to be compatible with various SATA devices and power supply units. They often feature standard SATA connectors on one end that plug into the device and standard power supply connectors on the other end.

  4. Length and Design: SATA power cables come in different lengths to accommodate various computer configurations. The design may vary depending on the manufacturer, but they usually feature durable connectors and insulation to ensure a reliable and safe power connection.

  5. Application: These cables are essential for building, upgrading, or repairing computers. They are commonly used in desktops and servers to connect storage drives and other SATA-powered devices.

  6. Computer Accessories and Peripherals: BD SATA power cables fall under the category of computer accessories and peripherals, as they are essential components for building and maintaining computer systems.

When purchasing BD SATA power cables or any SATA cables, it's essential to ensure that they are compatible with your specific hardware, as there are different types and generations of SATA connectors.Additionally, consider the length of the cable to ensure it reaches your devices without tension or excessive slack. Always follow proper safety precautions when working with computer hardware and power connections.

User questions & answers

Question: drives don't require a power adaptor? All I need is this cable
Answer: Yes. I had an SSD drive connected to the back of a server's USB 3 port for weeks without issue with no external power adapter.
Question: USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Cable w/UASP ... Great! Is this thing USB 2.0 backward compatible in case I need it that way
Answer: No. It is not backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports. Requires a USB 3.0 port to work. I have tested with a Macbook Pro non-retina with USB 2.0 port, Macbook Pro Retina with USB 3.0 port, and Lenovo Desktop with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.
Question: Can I use this cable to clone my laptop drive onto an external ssd to ultimately install the ssd into the laptop that presently has an hhd
Answer: I do believe you can. I'm a Mac user so I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my drives and it worked with that. I do use PCs as well, and there are several cloning programs that can do the same thing, I just can't remember them as I'm here at work. I did use one of them to clone my desktop drive to an SSD drive and it worked perfectly.
Question: While listed as only for a 2.5 HDD, has anyone tested this on a Desktop 3.5 HDD
Answer: This will not work on a 3.5 drive. The USB power supply is 5V. The 2.5 drives only use a 5V power rail, which is why this works on them. 3.5 drives have a 12V power rail, along with the 5V power rail. To run a 3.5 drive, you need an external 12V power supply. There are interfaces that come with it.

User questions & answers

Question: can the 90 degree clip side be used in the ssd or does it only work in the motherboard
Answer: Normally, the 90 degree end goes to HD or SSD. On the motherboard, SATA connectors are placed close together making use of the 90 degree end limited, but possible.
Question: Just bought a samsung 850 evo 1tb 2.5-inch sata iii internal ssd for my gaming tower, should i buy the straight or 90 degree angle cables? thanks
Answer: If you are planning to install the solid state drive with the sata connector facing one of the side panels then you probably want a 90 degree because a straight will have trouble making that bend. A lot of newer cases have alternative mounting places where a 90 degree angle cable wouldn't work. Basically it depends where the drive is mounted.
Question: What is the difference between Right 90 or Left 90? when it comes to applying 2ND hard drive for PC Backup only
Answer: This would depend on how you are mounting the drive - if it would be in the case, then if it's mounted to the left or right (long-ways on the motherboard connection) is how you would determine which 'bend' you want. If you are mounting externally, then you would want the bend to work out so that the drive would not be upside down.
Question: Is this all i need for a hardrive? Cable wise
Answer: Depends. Is it an internal hard drive or external? These cables are for internal mounted SATA hard drives & SSD's (Solid State Drives). If your drive is internal, you will also need to power the drive from the power supply (PSU), so make sure you have an extra hard drive power cable coming from your PSU; it can be either the old style bigger 4 wire kind or the newer SATA power connector, unless your hard drive only has the new power supply connector (it looks like the end of these connectors, except it is a little wider). Smaller 2.5" drives (laptop size drives) usually only have the SATA type power connector; and the older 4 pin connectors are probably being phased out, though they are not extinct yet. These cables work for SATA I, II & III; the difference between I, II, & III is speed: I maxes at 1.5 Gb/s. II at 3Gb/s, III at 6Gb/s; both the HD and the motherboard SATA types will be rated at one of these three speeds. It is best to match speeds, but not absolutely necessary; mismatched speeds will work (they just won't be as efficient - e.g. hooking a SATA III drive to a SATA II mobo slot will work, but the potential max data transfer speed will be limited by the slower connector.. theoretically). Make sure your HD is SATA (I, II or III) - not eSATA (external SATA) USB, Firewire, TB (thunderbolt) or any of the newer formats like SATA express, PCI express or M.2 (if it is not an SSD, you can probably rule out the new formats). Check here for more info on drive types: https://rog.asus.com/articles/product-news/ssd-guide-pci-express-m-2-msata-and-sata-express-the-differences-explained/ ..or Google SATA, IDE (the older connector type), SATA express, mSATA, M.2, etc. The long answer: If your hard drive & motherboard were made in the last 5 - 7 years, and the drive is meant to be Internal (i.e. mounted inside the case - more importantly, hooked directly to the motherboard), then yes.. Well, you need to make sure you have an extra H.D. power connecter coming from your power supply (and your power supply needs to supply enough wattage to run everything in your system - a basic system with few internal peripherals can run on a P.S.U rated at 300 - 500 watts; if you have e.g. 6 hard drives, two high power graphics cards and an energy consuming CPU, you would need a P.S.U. rated higher - 650 - 1000 watts). There are also new SATA express PCI express and NVE M.2 Solid State Drives that mount directly in a slot on a motherboard - the PCI express and M.2 types don't usually need an extra power source but the motherboard has to have that kind of slot. It's a little like a PCIex1 slot, but not exactly. If you have a solid state drive and it looks a bit like a memory strip or a small video card, then it is some form of PCI express or M.2. If it looks like a laptop or desktop drive, it is most likely SATA, unless it is over 5 - 7 years old.. then it could be IDE (the older type that has a long data connector with a bunch of pins).

Question: I want to use this for GPU Mining. Will this catch on fire if I connect it to my GPU? I heard the cheaper ones catch on fire
Answer: It depends on how much of that 750 your system already uses and how much the component you plan on adding uses. If it's still less than 750 it will be ok, just don't split a splitter. You can check your power usage by building your rig on pcpartpicker.com
