Answer:	I'm answering this because what I've read on previous answers gloss over information. I'm also bothered by the fact that the last couple have had a condescending tone (to me anyway). I'm going to share information that I have learned in my time working as a tech support agent for several different telecom companies. "Digital telephone service" is generally referred to by consumers as a VoIP service. POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) is an analog signal over copper phone lines. However, most telecom providers have upgraded their technology to fiber optic lines, creating "digital telephone service." The compatibility is not so much in the devices, but in the providers. Any phone device will work for phone service, be it digital or analog. They both use the standard phone jack (RJ-11) for phone connections. However, depending on how you had your service set up, the question is whether you can plug into a phone jack on the wall or if you need to plug directly into the phone jack on the Gateway/Modem/Router provided by your service provider. Like BookChief said, the network of copper wiring for your house phone jacks all run on an analog signal until they hit the point where they get switched over to the digital signal. Different providers have different points. Comcast & Spectrum switch at the Gateway/Modem/Router, which, for many people, was not setup to connect to your house phone jack system & will require you to plug directly into it. These devices have RJ-11 phone jacks so you don't need a special connection, just a regular phone cord. (Note: If you 're lucky, your phone jacks are wired to where you can plug the Gateway/Modem/Router into the nearest phone jack & activate service on the rest of them.) U-verse & Frontier Vantage are similarly setup as well, but are more likely to be connected to the house phone jack system. FiOS, provided by both Frontier & Verizon, have an ONT(Optical Network Terminal - demarc point for you tech folk) which is connected to the house phone jack system, so you wouldn't be plugging phones into anything but wall phone jacks for these providers. Now, there have been instances in the past where some services like alarm systems required that you kept an analog POTS line dedicated for that service as they didn't have any systems in place to work with VoIP services like Vonage. However, as more & more providers started utilizing VoIP as their phone platform in order to expand their service market, the systems in place had to be updated for compatibility, like upgrading to the E911 system. Also, the FCC requires the use of backup batteries for VoIP services, but if all you have are cordless phones, keeping the phone line up in a power outage is a moot point. Anyway, I digress. I hope this has helped you to understand your home phone system a little bit better. The point is that this device will work because it will plug into a standard phone jack, which all homes have available to them, whether it's through the standard wall jacks or the Gateway/Modem/Router provided by your service provider. I'm not going to go into the commercial phone line system as it's complex & I don't know everything about it. If you are using this for a business with a phone system already in place, you should consult with your IT tech to find out if you have an RJ-11 connection available to you.

Answer:	Bogus. The over-ear sucks. That sharp plastic digs into your ear. They need to redesign the plastic piece and make it round, rather than a sharp piece of plastic with a piece of foam over it (that you will lose). I would prefer to be able to style my hair, but I have resorted to the headband.

Answer:	Yes, but you will need to purchase the Plantronics APU - 75 hook switch adapter and you'll need to install the Plantronics Hub software. With this setup, I can use it for any PC software and VOIP calls.

Answer:	According to Cortelco's website, this phone is "assembled in the U.S.A.", which would be at Corinth, MS. Cortelco's facility there was a previous ITT manufacturing location. That "ITT" name would translate to "International Telephone & Telegraph". For those over 50, the "ITT" name should have significance... for the younger crowd, maybe not. No doubt there are some "globally sourced" components used as in any current electronic devices. Cortelco offers a desktop (2500 series) along with this wall mount phone (2554 series) and even a "Trimline" (8150) that are assembled/made in the U.S.A.
Question:	Does this work with Lucent 8410D
Answer:	This phone's ringer is made by a traditional bell. It is NOT digital. I intentionally bought this older phone because I wanted that older authentic sound and it is great!

Answer:	If you have a standard phone jack...this phone is a standard no frills phone. It has no electrical cord or batteries for functions you do not need for a phone to make a call or receive a call. It is not an alarm. It is not a hands free. It is not a cordless. I was tired of hearing garbled or diminished staticky reception. This phone has beautiful clarity which we have not experienced for YEARS! We had phones in this house which were obviously inferior. NOW to your most important question...keep or make sure you have a true land line. We bundled our cable, home phone, and internet with a cable company. When we first subscribed 10 years ago, it was questionable if the phone would still work during power outages and/or with 911 OR when cable service goes out. We still on occasion will experience a problem when the cable service goes completely dead. Check with your service provider and grill them on your concerns. This phone will more than likely not be the problem. This is a standard old fashioned phone that is still manufactured as a quality product because businesses and hotels/motels need to have these. Cellphones are unreliable and overrated and do not serve the primary purpose RELIABLY to call someone when you NEED to call someone. I hope my observations help.

Answer:	Ditto to the other responses - you need to hold the button down to stay muted. When on long conference calls, I frequently put myself on mute and this feature's function has not been an issue because both my LAN and mobile phones have mute buttons.
Question:	does this work with the iphone
Answer:	It WILL work with an iPhone, and most Android phones. You just need to also purchase a 2.5 mm (female) to 3.5 mm (male) adapter. (This headset has a 2.5 mm pin/plug, and the iPhone has a 3.5 mm socket.) These adapters are available on Amazon for around $4. I had looked quite extensively for a headset with a 3.5 mm pin (also know as plug or jack) without success. They just do not seem to be available in a headset of this quality. However, I have used this set up for several years now when working from home (or even in the office) and it works well! The headset will fail before the adapter does. :)
