| Answer: | Instructions are not helpful but it's not difficult. You have to find out how to access the backup light on your car (search for video on Internet). Then cut the wire, strip itand splice 4 the wires (cut ends of backup light wires + camera + monitor). It is important to connect the hot wires (red) together and the ground wires (black or white) together. Then secure them with a twister. The optical wire from the backup camera to the monitor is an additional wire. How to hide the wires depends on the car. I was able to route the wire from the backup camera to the backup light through the license plate lamp (the port was big enough). I hid the wire under a molding that held the upholstery.This monitor does not pop up automatically; you have to press the button. However, it lies flat on the dashboard (self adhesive) when not in use. It comes with it's own backup camera but I bought a better one separately. It is important that the backup camera lens be WATERPROOF, otherwise it will fog. |

Power both camera and screen from the same source and they will turn on and off together (this way you will never get a blue screen). Connect them to the vehicle's backup lights and they both will turn on when the vehicle is in reverse. I drive a cargo van and have mine connected so that it is on as long as my engine is running, that way I can see behind me while I am driving. |

This kit includes a nightvision-capable rear view camera and clip-on rear view mirror for your vehicle. The camera installs easily above your license plate and outputs crystal clear video over an RCA jack. The monitor clips to your rear view mirror. The monitor detects when you back up and shows the camera on screen. When you put your car back in drive, the image disappears – and your mirror becomes a mirror again. Perfect for backing into tight spots or moving in reverse when visibility is limited – it’s like having an extra eye. And this model comes with nightvision LEDs, which illuminate the area behind you at night. This small and durable unit will keep you safe and secure because you’ll always know what’s going on around you. The mirror also has multiple video inputs so you can hook up a portable DVD player or iPod. There is a seam that runs around the body of the camera itself. That seam is marine coated, however in environments that vary in temperature greatly, the plastic can contract and let in water. We suggest using clear silicone to go around that seam approximately 0.25" in width. This covers the expansion and contraction of the plastic body.

| Answer: | Despite the fun we can have with that comment, consider this. As designed, this is a back-up camera which means it will illuminate the area extending out the rear of your vehicle if used as intended where the camera and license plate frame is mounted to the rear license plate mounting area. If you mount it FRONT facing (say on the front license plate frame) then YES, it will probably see a deer at night, but I suspect that if you got your headlights on at night (always a good idea, in my opinion) you will see the deer through your windshield, that big glass thing in front of you. I would not suggest staring at the display monitor in that case. An officer sees you and you'd get a ticket for distracted driving. Again, as in most cases, common sense dictates how you use a product and no amount of instructions can replace common sense. Use it as intended and you will see a deer in the rear if it is within the day view or the infrared illuminated LED night view. |
