In this scenario, with the screen powered on and nothing connected all you will get is a blue screen but connect the included camera to the video input on the screen and supply 12v to the camera and the blue screen will disappear and be replaced with the video from the camera. Power both camera and screen from the same source and they will turn on and off together (this way you will never get a blue screen). Connect them to the vehicle's backup lights and they both will turn on when the vehicle is in reverse. I drive a cargo van and have mine connected so that it is on as long as my engine is running, that way I can see behind me while I am driving. |

You can buy an additional camera and video cable and use V1 for one of them and V2 for the other. Just wire the green trigger wire to a switched hot lead instead of to the backup light circuit. |

As designed, this is a back-up camera which means it will illuminate the area extending out the rear of your vehicle if used as intended where the camera and license plate frame is mounted to the rear license plate mounting area. If you mount it FRONT facing (say on the front license plate frame) then YES, it will probably see a deer at night, but I suspect that if you got your headlights on at night (always a good idea, in my opinion) you will see the deer through your windshield, that big glass thing in front of you. I would not suggest staring at the display monitor in that case. An officer sees you and you'd get a ticket for distracted driving. Again, as in most cases, common sense dictates how you use a product and no amount of instructions can replace common sense. Use it as intended and you will see a deer in the rear if it is within the day view or the infrared illuminated LED night view. |

| Answer: | Yes. If the unit is on and the vehicle is off the car battery will discharge and will need a jump to start. There are two ways to avoid this. One is to plug the unit into a power accessory outlet that does not supply electrical power when the ignition is turned off. Another option is to wire the unit into a fuse box cavity or hot wire somewhere in the dash that does not supply power when the ignition is off. Of course you could manually turn the device on when you start the vehicle and turn it off or unplug it from a power outlet each time you turn off the ignition. I preferred to tap into the dash fuse box using an inexpensive adapter that I purchased from an auto supply store. In doing so the unit is protected by a fuse and it turns on and off automatically with the ignition switch. |
