You have more choice over which fuse to use (function and rating) for full protection from failure and battery drain. I had OBD-II connection on a different dashcam running for approximately 18 months when it failed. The OBD-II dongle failure drained my battery down to 8 volts within 36 hours.

Answer:	No Crimping is needed. You simply figure out which fuse adapter you need for your vehicle type and connect it up. The adapter will replace a switched fuse in your fuse box (you need to figure out which one is best.) you pull the fuse, install it in the adapter, and then plug the adapter into the former location of that fuse. If the fuse you replaced is switched, then the device will only get power when the key is on, which I would assume is what you want.

In the third picture for this product listing, the left one with X is a left angled mini USB which is not included in this hardwire kit. The right one is the correct one which is a right angled one included in this product. I know in the US sometimes people use X as a check mark. But when we have V coming out, X just means the wrong one, or not available. Maybe we should use a circle with slash instead a X as not available?

Answer:	I had this on my 2020 Ford f-150, I had to take it off and hard wire my camera. If my truck sat for 2-3 days the camera battery would run down and then it would start turning on and recording for 110 seconds and then turn back off and then back on again. I was using all the recommended setting on the camera. I really would not recommend this. After I hard wired my camera I had no more problems. I just turn the camera off when my truck is going to be parked for a few days.

Question:	How do I connect to pin 4? The pic looks like others which have 3 solder tabs on one side and 2 on the other. Mine just has 4 tabs on one side
Answer:	These are 4 pin type b connectors. Yes pin 4 is not accessible as most products dont utilize pin 4. However if you need pin 4, which is used to detect which end of a cable is plugged in, you will need the style with 3 pins on one side and 2 on the other. For 99% of the uses though. Pin 4 is N/A, and the 4 pins are perfectly fine for use. 1 is +, 2 is data -, 3 data + , 4 n/a , 5 GND. If you use shielded cabled, you attach a small piece of the shielding wire in the cable to the flip side single large pad to the metal of the plug itself, but is not necessary.

Installation Instruction

Find the Correct Fuse Slot

Open the fuse box, find the correct fuse slot for your hardwire kit. If you need to find an ignition switched fuse, put the key in the vehicle, find the fuse which is not lit up while the car is off, and test it by turning the car on to see if it lights up. If your kit requires constant power, turn off the car and remove the key to see which fuse slots stays lit on.

Connect the Red Wire

Once you've determined which fuse slots you need to use for your hardwiring kit you can crimp the red wire of your hardwire kit onto the Add-A-Fuse. Gently remove the fuse you identified. Install the fuse you just removed into the installation kit add-a-fuse circuit. Plug the add-a-circuit into the fuse box in the correct orientation.

Ground the Hardwiring Kit

Slip the black wire (which is in the shape of a C) under a metal bolt or screw in your vehicle (this is the ground wire). Check that it is not attached to plastic parts. You will typically need a socket wrench to loosen the nut or bolt that you choose to ground with. To attach the grounding terminal, loosen the nut or bolt enough to slip it in and tighten it back up afterward

Question:	What is the bottom fuse slot for
Answer:	You pull the fuse that's in the car and insert it in the bottom. There is the original fuse (usually 10 or 15 Amp and typically from the radio ignition) and then there is a 3 or 5 amp fuse for the dash cam. They run in parallel no in tandem so if you radio fuse blows the dash cam will still function.
Question:	How do I know whether I need the “micro” or the mini” kit
Answer:	You have to look at your dashcam where the cable connects to determine if it is a micro or mini connector. Then look at the pictures of the kit on Amazon and purchase the same type of connector.
Question:	What is the rating of the supplied fuses
Answer:	The fuses are all rated at 5Amps
Question:	itapping into my 12v accsry fuse (15amps). With the red wire to the left and looking straight at the slots does the current car fuse go top or bottom
