If there's an HD2 for that station and it's in range, that'll do it. The HD broadcasts do tend to have less range, and for where I am on the eastern edge of the Twin Cities metro (western WI), my favorite station at 91.1 HD2 often requires some manipulation of antenna (what you have plugged into the headphone jack, often actually a line out to a stereo in my case) position to get the HD2 to come in, whereas the non-HD base broadcast comes in strong no matter how it's positioned.
