If you would like more bass it would better to add a separate enclosed powered sub-woofer, this will allow you to gain more bass and some even come with a bass knob so you can control both gain and frequency of the lower end notes. This would be the recommended choice because sometimes adding a different sub-woofer may off-sett the final impedance on the factory amplifier and result in the amp burning out. These enclosed powered sub-woofers are compact, will fit small spaces, will enhance the lower end sound on your system and come with designated inputs to integrate onto a stock system without putting any strain on the system that is already there. | Answer: | Yes, don't get the single 4 ohm voice coil. Get the dual voice coil version. The sub in my tahoe was 2 ohm and I had very little bass after installation. The dual can be wired to 2 ohms and will sound much better. I have a 2001 tahoe with sub in the rear driver side. I highly recommend looking at replacing the head unit, bypassing the built in amp and adding a rear sub amp as well. |

Depending on whether you're running them in a series or parallel, or a series parallel, this changes the ohm load to the amp. 4 ohm dvc subwoofers can be wired in a 4 ohm load down to a 1 ohm load, depending on wiring and number of subs. A dvc 2 ohm speaker can be wired down to as low as a .5 ohm load or a 2 ohm load. You better quality sound the lower the ohm load, make sure both speakers and amp are capable of carrying the same load. |
