The other thing that I've done is keep my old Garmin. I sleep with the old Garmin while I charge the VS HR+. The TureUp feature does not get confused by data from two watches, nor does TrueUp allow for duplicate data. Yes, get the VS HR+, keep it charged, and you will be delighted with your maps.
