4 best electronic crossover with remotes
An electronic crossover with a remote control is a component used in car audio systems to enhance sound quality and control the distribution of audio frequencies to various speakers. It is a part of car electronics and car vehicle electronics. Here's what you need to know about electronic crossovers with remotes:
Function: An electronic crossover, often referred to as a "crossover," is a device that divides an audio signal into multiple frequency ranges (high, mid, and low frequencies) and directs these frequency ranges to the appropriate speakers. This ensures that each speaker reproduces the frequencies it's best suited for, resulting in clearer and more balanced sound.
Remote Control: Many electronic crossovers come with a remote control, which allows users to make real-time adjustments to the crossover settings from the driver's seat. This can be especially convenient while driving.
Types of Crossovers:
- Active Crossover: Active crossovers require power and are often found in car audio systems. They offer greater control and precision over the frequency distribution and can be adjusted using the remote control.
- Passive Crossover: Passive crossovers do not require power and are typically used in home audio systems. They are not adjustable via remote control and are usually built into the speaker cabinets.
Frequency Ranges: Electronic crossovers can split the audio signal into various frequency ranges, such as:
- High-Pass: Directs high frequencies (treble) to tweeters or smaller speakers.
- Low-Pass: Sends low frequencies (bass) to subwoofers or larger speakers.
- Band-Pass: Filters out both high and low frequencies, directing only mid-range frequencies to mid-range speakers.
Adjustability: The remote control for electronic crossovers typically allows users to adjust parameters such as crossover frequency, slope (how quickly the signal rolls off), and gain (volume) for each speaker channel.
Benefits:
- Improved Sound Quality: Crossovers ensure that each speaker reproduces the frequencies it can handle, reducing distortion and muddiness in the sound.
- Customization: Users can tailor the sound to their preferences and the specific characteristics of their car audio system.
- Speaker Protection: Crossovers can protect speakers from receiving frequencies they cannot handle, preventing damage.
Installation: Installing an electronic crossover in a car audio system may require some technical expertise. It typically involves connecting the crossover between the head unit (stereo) and the amplifiers and speakers.
Compatibility: When selecting an electronic crossover, it's essential to ensure compatibility with your existing car audio components, such as amplifiers, speakers, and head units.
Sound Tuning: Using the remote control and adjusting the crossover settings can be part of the sound tuning process, where audiophiles and car audio enthusiasts fine-tune their system for optimal sound quality.
Electronic crossovers with remote controls are valuable tools for car audio enthusiasts who want to achieve a high-quality and customized sound experience in their vehicles. They offer the flexibility to tailor audio output to specific speaker configurations and listener preferences while on the road.

User questions & answers
Question: | How many volts are the outputs? I have 8v outputs and id rather use my amps built in crossovers if this is going to reduce the voltage |
Answer: | I am not sure. But... I am using two of these to drive one 4 channel amp, two 2 channel amps and 2 monoblock amps. All of them are different brands and none of my crossover outputs nor my amplifier inputs are at max. So in conclusion, it/they have enough. |
Question: | how many amps can work with this cross over |
Answer: | You can control three amps with this cross over. |
Question: | Can I used this together with an equilizer for better sound on my car |
Answer: | Yes will sound great |
Question: | so if i got Boss amps will i need a Boss crossover |
Answer: | Not really unless you want to keep all the equipment the same. |
