How Does it Work?

Imagine the frequency range of the sound you hear as a highway, a very wide one with nine lanes. Each of these "lanes" represents a single octave of the sonic spectrum. The first four lanes, labeled 63 - 500 (Hz) contain the really low frequency sound content, mainly bass, bass vocals, and the kick and tom drums. The three lanes labeled 1 k, 2 k and 4 k (Hz), make up the fundamental zone of most musical instruments and the male and female vocals. 8 k and 16 k cover the frequency range of cymbals, snare drums and higher pitched percussion instruments. The FBQ800 allows you to control the flow of audio traffic in each of these nine lanes. When properly applied, EQ makes it possible to hear all of these frequency ranges equally, thus the term equalization.

Feedback Elimination

When a specific frequency, or range of frequencies, reaches too high a level, feedback occurs--that all-too-familiar squeal or howl you get when the mic is too close to the speaker. Basically, feedback happens when there is so much of a particular frequency that it is picked up by the mic and run through the system again. That's why feedback typically gets louder and louder the longer it's allowed to occur. Needless to say, this kind of feedback is very undesirable.

This is where the FBQ800's Feedback Detection System really works its magic. In this ingenious circuitry, LEDs on the individual faders light up when that frequency band is approaching the danger zone. All you need do is lower the illuminated slider until the LED blinks out--voilá, feedback problem solved! What once required a highly trained ear is now an activity that even a child can master.

Sonic Toolkit

That really is the best way to describe the FBQ800. With its nine frequency bands, you easily fine-tune your sound and instantly eliminate feedback. And each fader can be used to boost or cut the frequency range it controls by as much as 12 dB (and that's a lot!).

Special attention is paid to the low frequency zone. In addition to low frequency faders, the FBQ800 features a Low Cut filter for removing unwanted low frequencies such as fl oor rumble, room resonance, electrical hum, etc. This is especially handy if your system is being used for speech rather than music.

To Boost or to Cut, That is the Question

Raising and lowering specific frequency bands can improve the frequency response of any room's acoustics. For instance, if the room you're in is "bass-heavy," lowering the 63 and 125 Hz faders can help eliminate an overall "boomy" or "muddy" sound. Likewise, gently boosting the 8 and 16 k sliders can add sparkle to a somewhat "dark" mix. Are the vocals getting lost in the mix? Raising the level of the 1 k slider can help bring them out.

It's important to note that raising a single fader level is not always the best solution; it's often better to lower the bands surrounding the frequency you want to bring out, and then boost the overall volume level to achieve better headroom.

You can get 2 of these or get the stereo model. You still need an amplifier and a player. You hook this up between a like a CD player and your amp.

Answer:	Any ears can be cut off, but I would be very careful. If you damage the corners, the integrity of the cabinet is gone.

Answer:	rca connectors are typically noisy on any application.
Question:	Does this amp have low frequency’s for body shaking bass
Answer:	It is not an amp. You will need an amp between this and your speakers. This adjusts the bass thru treble in 31 frequency bands from 10-20K HZ. I'd suggest Googling graphic equalizer if you are not sure!
Question:	Can it be used in a car
Answer:	At 19" wide and several inches deep, requiring a/c power, I can't envision a situation where it would be practical to use this product in a car. Also, electrical noise from car electronics would be a factor.

Answer:	Hi Steve. I looked up the Onkyo 737 so I could answer your question intelligently. I need to know how you want to use the EQ before I an give you a good answer. You could use the Zone 2 output to feed the EQ input and then connect the EQ output to another source input, say if you own a tape deck and you want to equalize the response, but I do not see the traditional "tape loop" that would enable you to equalize the front two channels irregardless of which source you pick. So the simple answer is no you can't use it effectively. Sorry.
Question:	whay are the in put / out put in each channel are crossing? like. rca has in put and out put on same channel
Answer:	RCA is unbalanced, meaning its susceptible to noise problems. XLR (and 1/4 trs - not 1/4 tr) are balanced, and more immune to noise problems picked up in interconnecting audio equipment. Balanced connections use shielded, twisted-pair cable and three-conductor connectors (like XLR or TRS connectors). This noise cancellation is called “Common Mode Rejection.” It's also good for long cable runs. And so XLR and TRS cables are used to transmit balanced audio from one balanced device to another. In an audio rack you might be tempted to use an inexpensive cable like RCA because the cable runs are short. That's your choice, but the professionals use XLR cables for the cleanest sound they can engineer.

Answer:	The interrupt is for a temporary input signal such as a PA microphone interruption when the amp is normally playing background music, for example. It is NOT a selectable input. This is a very versatile and excellent-sounding power amp, but it does not have a preamp with switchable inputs. "M. Heine" will be very disappointed.

Answer:	The 102 is rated at 55 watts vs 50 watts for the 100. Audio source makes good quality products so you can’t go wrong either way. The 102 may play a little louder than the 100 but the 100 has good power and good sound and is a great buy at the price. If it were me I’d save money and go with the 100.

Answer:	As long as you have a receiver output that can mimic a pre-amp signal and your speakers don't require more than 50 watts each, you should be fine. I'm powering two Polk R300s with one AMP100VS and I have two brdged AMP!00s, each powering one B&W CDM2.
Question:	I need 60-100 watts with 8 ohms. Does this have these specs
Answer:	This will work just fine, the #'s you most want to concern yourself with is the ohms, the amp is 4-8ohm compatible, 8ohm speakers will work just fine, power is secondary, I'm guessing the 60-100 watts is a continuous and peak power rating of your speaker and this 50watt RMS would work just fine without overpowering your speakers.

Answer:	It should. I have mine powering an old (very old) Bose 401 system. It has an unpowered sub woofer and two satellite speakers. I works good

Answer:	No, there is no IR port. The system can be set to automatically turn on based on an audio signal or use the trigger ports with a 3.5mm jack.
Question:	Could I mono power @ 4 ohm a center channel speaker with this in the 4 ohm setting
Answer:	I wouldn't. The bridged output is only for 8 ohms - the amp see 4 ohms per channel, so a 4 ohm bridged load would drop it down to 2 ohms per channel which won't work (at least for too long before the amp blows). You could add a 10W 4 Ohm resistor in series with the speaker to make it an 8 ohm load, though.
Question:	does adding a 100w amp to a 200 watt receiver make total output 300 watts, or does the amp override the receiver
Answer:	You cannot really add them together. The 200 watt receiver would be driving different speakers than would the 100 watt amp. Your 200 watt receiver, likely, is 100 watts per channel into 2 channels and this amp is 50 per channel into 2 more channels. You would be driving 2 speakers at 100 watt each and 2 more speakers at 50 watts each. The total system power could be considered as 300 watts, though.

Answer:	It's not an amp. It's a equalizer unit to fine tune music. This unit goes between the head unit and amplifier. Most head units provide 2 volt signal to the amp, this eq will provide 7 volt signal to the amp.

Question:	Will this work with denon avr 2112ci receiver
Answer:	Yes you can. I only use 2 channel receivers. Not into cinema and avr receivers. I use an external audio source selector. Available on Amazon. Mine handles 3 sources. But selectors with more source inputs are available. I run my sources to the inputs on the selector. Then run the single output to the auxiliary input or in the case of newer receivers, input 1,2 or 3. For my application it works very well. Technically you can connect this eq to your Denon or any other receiver without the in out loop.
Question:	what would cause this to make an awfull hissing sound ? right now its useless
Answer:	Trying to diagnose sound equipment is not always easy. A hum usually means a bad ground. A his could be a lose connection or a bad cable. First see if the noise is on both sides or just one. Single side noise try changing a cable from the left to the right to see if the hiss changes sides. If it does change does change out the cable. If the his stays then you have a speaker problem. If the his is on both sides check your ground. Hope this helps.
