Answer:	I think the answers are confusing to some. Here's the scoop. You can use an external battery pack like the one you charge your Iphone with or you can plug it into a USB port or you can use the 110v adapter with USB cable plugged in. When you do those following things the camera is running off those power sources and not your battery. And yes, you can record while plugged into those external power sources. The battery will not charge when doing that and recording but that should not be a problem. Charge your battery at home. Now start recording and when your battery gets low plug into your external battery pack or USB and keep going. I own this camera and did the experiment. I use this in my car as a dash cam and it's plugged into my cigarette lighter and it runs non stop without using the battery.

Question:	I want to record my band can I record audio too off my mixerboard
Answer:	I had terrible results with that. I am using a Yamaha mixer straight into the camera. I am recording loud electric guitars. The VU meter on the camera is so crude as to be pretty useless. No matter how I set the VU meter or the master on the mixer, the audio would come out distorted badly. Nothing I tried worked. That was my main reason for buying the camera was to use a mixer to use two mics to record a speaker cab. I sent the camera back, the results were just too crude and useless. I ended up buying an upscale Panasonic UX180 that has stereo XLR inputs, a fully manageable recording system in camera with separate audio dials for each channel. My mixer works perfectly with it so I get video and audio on my SD cards to dump straight into Final Cut ProX, works like a dream. I simply could not find another camera that had professional audio recording capabilities using a mixer. I tried a budget JBC pro camcorder, what a horrible piece of junk, the view finder was completely worthless, image quality was terrible, the UX180 is a big camera with big pro features, worth every penny I paid for it. The V770 is a great camera on its own, but dumping audio into, was a huge fail for me, with no work around.

Answer:	The biggest differences were: 1. The AX53 has a significantly bigger sensor and aperture, for much better "low" light 4k 2. The ax53 can record in either 1080 or 4K. The Panasonic only records in 4k--but it can perform a "pan and scan" kind of cropping in order to export a 75 percent smaller file. 3. The ax53 overall is "easier to use" especially if you plan to record yourself. 4. The ax53 has a 20x optical zoom as opposed to a 10x 5. Overall, the ax53 is pretty much a lot more palmcorder for a little more money. 6. BEWARE--Sony employees will tell you "Yes. You can live stream with this camera" but they DON'T tell you "...IF you pay 99.00/year to subscribe to our live streaming service." That's embedded in the camera's firmware. So, no, it is NOT what most people think of as a "livestreaming" camera. The real question is, why are you buying a camcorder at all? Your phone probably has a camera that will do anything most people ever want or need. I bought this palmcorder for a couple of very, very specific needs.
Question:	I just received my camcorder. The lens seems loose ... or sort of rotates inside. Is this how it should be? I'm new to videoing
Answer:	Actually, it's better than normal. It's one of the reasons you should get this camera (although I returned it for a different reason)!! It's one of the best features of this camcorder that many camcorders do not have yet. It's called the BOSS system and it allows that lens point in the same INTENDED direction even though you are constantly shaking the camera. It's major optical stabilization. And, as you move to a different subject to record, the lens follows you. Not something easy to design. If you're curious why I am going to return the one I purchased, I just found out that it doesn't shoot in 4k when you are holding it and shooting. Can only do 4k when it's on a tripod. Otherwise, it's just HD. I was wondering why it was so cheap and now I know. The camcorders you can hold and shoot in 4k are pretty expensive. I hate to pay up so much for 4k to hold and shoot though but 4k makes a huge difference in my opinion. One seems like you're there. The other video seems like it's a recording or representation of life. I'm still debating what to do...

Question:	Can you change / adjust the lens or is the one that comes with the product permanent
Answer:	Yes you can use something like a REDEYE .65x wide angle adapter. It needs to have a 67mm thread with it. The REDEYE lens is made in Canada, and is a much better option then the cheap Chinese lenses which are widely available. You will definitely want a high quality glass lens. This camera only goes to like 29mm on it's wide side, so a wide lens adapter might be a good idea to have with it. 16X9 inc, Century, also make quality glass,but are more pricey then the nice one I found on a big auction site. If you can find a quality lens for under $300, it would be good for your kit. Also the REDEYE has a very protective padded leather lens pouch that ships with it.
Question:	can this camera use the 4:2:2 color space, for professional broadcast
Answer:	Uh, "XAVC-S uses 4.2.0." What??? The term XAVC-S has NOTHING to do with subsampling. It's just a container, or wrapper. XAVC-S is a Sony proprietary wrapper. The codec is H.264, which of course allows for 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 depending on the recording circuitry. The circuitry and firmware in THIS PARTICULAR CAMERA only records 4:2:0 in 4k resolution up to 100Mb/s which it then "delivers" via H.264 wrapped in MP4 along with LPCM audio. But 4:2:2 or even 4:4:4 CAN be coded in H.264, using different circuitry and firmware. That has NOTHING to do with "XAVC-S." In any case, you don't necessarily "need" to SHOOT in 4:2:2 unless you are doing a lot in post, like chromakey or color processing. If you can "upsample" to 4:2:2 (usually by "downscaling" to 1080p) with software (like Premiere Pro,) then your output can be more or less 10-bit "4:2:2." That's called "broadcast quality" because no TV or monitor is perfectly calibrated to the one you're editing on--so, 10-bit (1024 levels) color provides an ample range for any given 8-bit (256 level) TV to fall into. In other words, "broadcast quality" only means "wiiiide safety margin" so far as color sampling information goes. That dates back to NTSC analog color TV--broadcast 4 times as much color information than the viewer's TV can display, so that his 4:2:0 TV will be able to catch enough color signal to still get what he will see as a "good" picture. Even in UHD digital TV, on average, 4:2:2 1080p looks "better" to the human eye than 4:2:0 4K unless the viewer is sitting with his nose touching a 65" screen) for the same reason--calibration of the display (which can vary from one area of the screen to another, let alone from one TV to another.)

Answer:	Yes. We use it to record lacrosse and setup kn the center line and pan the whole field. The clarity is very good.

Answer:	Any wireless microphone has a transmitter built into the mic, and a receiver that you plug in to the camcorder. This cam has jacks for microphones, so by definition it has jacks for wireless mic. Both XLR and 1/8" pin.

Answer:	It will be about as good as a new iPhone. The lens is pretty good in low light. It has infrared mode for shooting in complete darkness, but the subject needs to be within 10 feet or so.
