5 best 4k cameras

4K cameras, also known as Ultra High Definition (UHD) cameras, are digital cameras capable of recording video and capturing images with a resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels horizontally. These cameras have become increasingly popular in the world of videography and photography due to their ability to deliver high-quality, crisp, and detailed images and videos. Here are some key points about 4K cameras:

  1. Resolution: 4K cameras have a resolution of approximately 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is four times the resolution of Full HD (1080p) cameras. This higher resolution results in sharper and more detailed images and videos.

  2. Video Recording: 4K cameras are widely used for professional video production, including filmmaking, television production, and online content creation. They can capture video at 4K resolution, often at various frame rates (e.g., 24fps, 30fps, 60fps), providing flexibility in terms of video style and motion.

  3. Photography: 4K cameras can also capture high-resolution still images. Many 4K cameras offer advanced photography features, making them suitable for both video and photography enthusiasts.

  4. Camcorders: 4K camcorders are designed specifically for video recording and often come with features like optical image stabilization, high-quality audio recording, and long zoom capabilities. They are commonly used for events, documentaries, and news reporting.

  5. Professional and Consumer Models: 4K cameras are available in a range of models, from professional-grade cameras used in Hollywood productions to consumer-level models designed for vlogging and casual photography.

  6. Sensor Size: The size of the image sensor in a 4K camera can vary. Cameras with larger sensors generally offer better low-light performance and greater control over depth of field.

  7. Lens Compatibility: Many 4K cameras, especially mirrorless and DSLR models, support interchangeable lenses. This allows photographers and videographers to adapt to different shooting scenarios and achieve various creative effects.

  8. Post-Production Flexibility: Shooting in 4K resolution provides more flexibility in post-production. It allows for cropping, stabilizing, and downscaling to lower resolutions while maintaining image quality.

  9. Storage and Data Rate: 4K video files are larger than those in lower resolutions, so they require more storage space and faster data rates. It's essential to have sufficient storage and fast memory cards when using 4K cameras.

  10. Display and Playback: To fully appreciate the benefits of 4K, you need a compatible 4K display or monitor for playback. Many modern TVs, monitors, and smartphones support 4K content.

  11. Editing Software: When working with 4K footage, it's important to use video editing software capable of handling the higher resolution. This software allows for editing, color grading, and adding special effects to 4K videos.

In summary, 4K cameras are widely used in both amateur and professional settings for their ability to capture high-resolution video and images. They provide greater detail and flexibility in post-production, making them a popular choice for various creative projects and applications.

User questions & answers

Question: My digital camera has a delay between pushing the shutter button and the photo actually being snapped. What is the response time of this camera
Answer: Yes
Question: does it come with lens cover
Answer: If you are vloging no because the screen doesn’t flip back for you to see yourself and if you want good sound no because no audio port but it’s good otherwise
Question: Is this camera good in low light situations
Answer: It's fine for nature, sunsets and landscapes. It's not good for sports, because it only shoots 3 frames per second doesn't have the best lens for sports. It would do OK for sports outside in full sun, but you might want to get the kit that has the 70-300mm lens. It will do badly at indoor sports events.
Question: Can you take close up macro shots with this camera
Answer: yes it comes with both

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have slow motion mode
Answer: Any camera that can shoot 60fps can achieve that smooth slow motion you’re looking for if you edit it in 24fps in your editing software and slow down your footage by 40%. Make sure your shutter speed is 60 at the lowest (ideally 120 or faster)
Question: I bought the G7 with 14-42mm kit lens. Images are great but there's a substantial amount of vignetting effect. Are there any solutions to this
Answer: Vignetting can naturally occur in all lenses, or can be caused or intensified due to use of external tools such as filters, filter holders and lens hoods. You did not say if you used the flash, this can sometimes throw a shadow caused by the lens hood. Also if you're trying to take pictures at the "short" end 14mm you might remove the hood to see if that helps.
Question: is this the american version
Answer: All of these should be the version sold in the US unless they say otherwise.
Question: Does the lens come with a hood
Answer: Yes, a hood is included. The manufacturer packages this model with the following accessories:*Li-ion Battery*Battery Charger*Body Cap*Hot Shoe Cover*Shoulder Strap*USB Connection Cable*AC Cable*Software DVD-ROM*Lens Hood*Lens Storage Bag*Front & Rear Lens Caps

User questions & answers

Question: I want to record my band can I record audio too off my mixerboard
Answer: I had terrible results with that. I am using a Yamaha mixer straight into the camera. I am recording loud electric guitars. The VU meter on the camera is so crude as to be pretty useless. No matter how I set the VU meter or the master on the mixer, the audio would come out distorted badly. Nothing I tried worked. That was my main reason for buying the camera was to use a mixer to use two mics to record a speaker cab. I sent the camera back, the results were just too crude and useless. I ended up buying an upscale Panasonic UX180 that has stereo XLR inputs, a fully manageable recording system in camera with separate audio dials for each channel. My mixer works perfectly with it so I get video and audio on my SD cards to dump straight into Final Cut ProX, works like a dream. I simply could not find another camera that had professional audio recording capabilities using a mixer. I tried a budget JBC pro camcorder, what a horrible piece of junk, the view finder was completely worthless, image quality was terrible, the UX180 is a big camera with big pro features, worth every penny I paid for it. The V770 is a great camera on its own, but dumping audio into, was a huge fail for me, with no work around.
Question: What the frame rate
Answer: Max240
Question: Is power supplied through the mic input, to operate a mic with out a battery? Or would you have to buy a mic with a built in power source
Answer: The built in mic is excellent. That said, if you want an external mic, I'd suggest one like the Rode VideoMic. You have to supply your own power, there is no phantom power.
Question: Does it have a jack for an external microphone
Answer: Yes it does. External Microphone. Another for external headphones. It also has an external hot shoe for boom mic or lighting.
