11 best camera monopods
A camera monopod is a photographic accessory used by photographers and videographers to provide stability and support for their cameras or camcorders while shooting. Unlike tripods, which have three legs, monopods have a single leg. They are a popular choice for individuals who need mobility and quick setup while still benefiting from some stabilization. Here are some key points about camera monopods:
Stability: Monopods help reduce camera shake and vibrations, resulting in sharper images and smoother video footage. They are especially useful in situations where tripods are impractical or cumbersome.
Mobility: Monopods are lightweight and easy to carry, making them ideal for photographers who need to move quickly or work in tight spaces. They are often used by sports photographers, wildlife photographers, and journalists on the go.
Height Adjustment: Most camera monopods come with adjustable height options. Users can extend or retract the monopod's leg to achieve the desired shooting height. Some models also have a ball head or tilt head for added flexibility in positioning the camera.
Versatility: Monopods can be used with a wide range of cameras, from compact point-and-shoots to heavy DSLRs and professional video cameras. Many monopods also have a standard tripod mount on top, allowing you to attach various accessories such as ball heads or gimbal heads.
Stability Techniques: While monopods provide more stability than handholding a camera, they still require proper technique to achieve the best results. Photographers often use their body as an additional support point by leaning against the monopod or bracing it against a stable surface.
Monopod Feet: Some monopods come with removable or interchangeable feet. These feet can vary in design, including rubber tips, spikes, or even small tripods. The choice of foot depends on the shooting environment, whether it's on solid ground or uneven terrain.
Video Applications: Monopods are commonly used in video production to achieve smooth panning and tracking shots. Some monopods feature fluid heads that allow for more precise camera movement during video recording.
Portability: Monopods are easy to pack and transport, making them a convenient accessory for travel and outdoor photography.
In summary, camera monopods are versatile tools that provide stability and support for photographers and videographers, particularly in situations where tripods are not practical. They are valued for their mobility, quick setup, and ability to reduce camera shake, resulting in better image and video quality.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you unscrew the spike and replace it with a 3/8" screw device like a mini tripod |
Answer: | I haven’t tested with that camera. However I was looking to get that camera. Might need an adaptor. I’m currently using it with an Sony AX-53 and have no issue. Have you tried just attaching the quick release plate by itself? |
Question: | Does it come with a bag |
Answer: | please check the screw hole of your manfrotto 502AH is 3/8" or 1/4", the screws of our monopod is 3/8" and 1/4" changeable. It can support both 3/8" and 1/4" screw hole. |
Question: | On the 67" k&f monopod, can the "spike foot" be removed to attach a 1/4" o 3/8" screw of a mini tripod? thanks |
Answer: | It should. I use it with the Ricoh Theta V 360 camera all the time and love it. It’s the best monopod I have ever used! |
Question: | Is this really good for hiking |
Answer: | It is working perfectly with My Pilotfly h2. |
Question: | how difficult should the quick reales be to screw into sony A7iii? Does not seem to want to go on straight for me |
Answer: | yes, they do come with lens caps. |
Question: | Is the Manfrotto 502AH too big for it |
Answer: | I don't know how much time Amazon allows for damaged purchases to be returned. I sugges that you get in touch with Amazon and find out about their return policy and take it from there. |
Question: | Does this work as a monopod for the Go Pro 360 Max |
Answer: | Here is a link on how to do it.http://www.astronomyforum.net/binoculars-forum/201622-collimating-pair-barska-15x70-binocs.html |
Question: | will this work with zhiyun Crane |
Answer: | HiYes. These belong to the "Big" binoculars group used in astronomy. They compare to other makes like Orion,Celestron,Meade and expensive brands. This group can be terrestrial and astronomical . If you get the right quality pair, you might be pleased with constellation and clusters views; and even large enough galaxies. I returned mine because I couldn't get them collimated successfully, so I saw doubles everywhere. On the moon you will see colored "halos" due to optics but that will minimize if collimated correctly. I strongly suggest to read reviews about this pair , and others, and acquire background on binocular collimation to help you decide. Also note one seriously important consideration, and that is mounting and hand holding. This by itself can dictate your choice. Good luck |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this take a fluid head |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | What is the purpose of the feet? They cant hold s csmera up |
Answer: | The feet are to keep the support upright while you mount the camera. If it didn't have feet you would have to lean it against something. There are monopods that have sharp ends to push into the ground, if you are hiking and want to push into soil but I preferred the one with feet because I might use it in other places. |
Question: | I have a panasonic lumix fz-300, but don't see it mentioned in the list of cameras for this monopod. any reason the lumix wouldn't work |
Answer: | I don’t even know why there would be a list of cameras, yes it will work |
Question: | Is it stable enough to support a small 360 camera at maximum extension without any help |
Answer: | yes, although if the ground is not level it is a challenge. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Nikon p1000? Anyone tried with this mono |
Answer: | I have the Sony A7iii camera with 1/4" thread hole that fit with the screw on the monopod. |
Question: | Is there a way to remove the tri-folding feet |
Answer: | Yes it unscrews rather easily |
Question: | I am considering using this with the 360fly 4k, but I'm concerned the pan bar & handle will be in the image; Can the pan bar & handle be detached |
Answer: | The pan bar and handle can be detached (and it actually comes detached), but it can also be adjusted so that it doesn't show up in your image. |
Question: | Is the quick release plate interchangeable with a manfrotto |
Answer: | The Coman plate is NOT compatible with Manfrotto 2" slide clamps, such as the one on the Manfrotto 562B-1. The Coman is a 1 and 13/16th" slide clamp, so it's 3/16" too narrow to use with my Manfrotto clamps. Even when the clamps are fully tightened, the space is still 1/8" too wide, so the plate will slide right off. I'll post pictures with my review. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the large plastic head be removed for use with 360 cameras |
Answer: | Yes! |
Question: | What’s the base width? with separate mount can i use at half height w/ ipadpro 12.9”. want for: 1) tabletop pics & 2) chair reading |
Answer: | With the tripod base itself fully expanded, it measures about 7 & 3/8 inches between each leg (in width) and about 9.5 inches (in width) if you have the leg expanders pushed out on each individual leg. As to a 12.9 inch iPad balancing atop with this tripod being halfway extended in length and being attached to the base, it'll definitely become top heavy and I would think have a high probability of tipping over very easily. I sat in my recliner with this tripod setup and extended it as if I were to read myself. The first thing I noticed is the ease of tipping over even with my small 7" x 4" Tablet. It "might" be ok if you never bumped it when using it such as this, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. I've used this Tripod for a while now and I really like it, but you have to babysit it when it's extended. I always keep one hand on it when using it whether it's in monopod form or tripod form. It doesn't matter if my camera is attached or something as small as my cellphone which is a Note9...I never take my hand off of it. Now, if you are using the base itself to mount the iPad directly to and setting it on tabletops/countertops, then yes. It's very sturdy and I would recommend use that way. |
Question: | How can you take pictures with it as a selfie stick if there is no remote or button on the stick for picture taking |
Answer: | If your phone has a timer, you would have to set it and get in position in front of your device before the timer comes on. Or if you have a remote for your device. |
Question: | Is the 6-in-1 in tripod mode stable fully extended 55"? also does the 6-in-1 come smell free, I'm very sensitive and noticed some reviews about that |
Answer: | You do not want to have the tripod unattended when full extended. It will blow over in the wind, but with a smaller camera like GoPro etc, not too much of any issue. But stay near it. As for smell, it has less order than the people you are taking the pictures of. |
