User questions & answers
Question: | Will it autofocus on D |
Answer: | I have the D5100... I would only be assuming it would focus on the d5300. |
Question: | Will the autofocus work on 50mm f/1.8G AF-S Nikkor lens for the D |
Answer: | Yes, the auto-focus will work. But remember this is an FX lens. Your DX D3200 camera will register it as a 75mm lens rather than a 50mm lens. |
Question: | Could you comment on the merits of 50mm F 1.8 vs. 85 mm F 1.8 for portrait photography much of which will just be shot in the home on a D |
Answer: | Either lense is fine for portrait use though, but I prefer to keep portraits to around 50-85mm so on my aps-c sensor body it left me with one choice. A fx lens on a dx body has a focal length of 1.5x the rating. So a 50mm on a D7100 comes out to a 75mm, and the 85mm lens acts like a 127.rmm lens. For this reason I chose the 50mm F1.8 lens. It has nice bokeh and since the length isn't too long the portrait image still has some depth and isn't flattened. |
Question: | nikon 50mm f/1.8g vs. nikon 50mm f/1.4g... which one |
Answer: | Get the 1.8 and use the difference to buy the 35 1.8g dx |

Your DSLR’s Best Friend
A must-have for standard portraits and everyday use, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G is a lens that will absolutely surprise you. The 50mm focal length (75mm equivalent on DX format cameras) with a fast f/1.8 aperture allows you to capture stunning images with a shallow depth-of-field, letting your subjects stand out from their backgrounds. The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G may soon become your new favorite lens.
Brilliance In Any Light Get Astonishing Low Light Results
This lightweight standard lens is a great travel companion because you never know when a beautiful, sunny day will turn cloudy and rainy. With its fast f/1.8 aperture, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G will capture even low-light situations with stunning brilliance.
Beautiful Background Blur Achieve More Natural Depth Of Field
Whether you're shooting portraits, food or nature—indoors or outdoors—the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G renders a beautiful, natural background blur (Bokeh) at its wider aperture settings. And its 50mm focal length is perfect for creating natural perspective in your photographs.
Capture Every Detail Shoot Tack-Sharp Portraits Every Time
Nikon's Super Integrated Coating (SIC) enhances light transmission efficiency and offers superior color consistency and reduced flare, while the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G's Aspherical Lens Element (AS) virtually eliminates coma and other types of aberrations, even when shooting at the widest available aperture. Pair that with Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for fast, accurate and quiet autofocus, and you can be sure all of your portraits will be tack sharp.
Silent Wave Motor
AF-S NIKKOR lenses feature Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM). This technology converts 'traveling waves' into rotational energy to focus the optics. This enables high-speed autofocusing that's extremely accurate and super quiet.
M/A
Select NIKKOR lenses have a focusing mode which allows switching from automatic to manual focusing with virtually no lag time by simply turning the focusing ring on the lens. This makes it possible to seamlessly switch to fine manual focusing while looking through the viewfinder.
Aspherical Lens
A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and help contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements necessary. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the center of the lens.
Super Integrated Coating
Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses.

Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens: Highly Recommended by dpreview.com
The AF-S Nikkor 35mm F1.8G DX is a lens which certainly caused a degree of dismay on its release, with many Nikon fans disappointed by the decision to make it compatible with the DX format only. However the main benefit of that decision is plain for all to see - even at its introductory price the lens costs rather less than the venerable AF-Nikkor 35mm F2.0D, despite the addition of an AF-S motor to allow autofocusing on Nikon's entry-level D40 / D40X / D60 bodies. It's also less than half the price of the few other DX format standard primes currently on the market (such as the Pentax 35mm F2.8 Macro, Tokina 35mm F2.8 Macro and Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM), so Nikon has managed with this lens to produce the first genuinely inexpensive (sub-$200) fast standard prime designed specifically for digital SLRs.
Within this context, the lens's performance is very impressive. It produces finely detailed images at all apertures (although with somewhat low contrast wide open), focuses quickly and accurately, and handles well in a small, light package. In particular, it's much sharper than typical DX standard zooms such as the Nikon AF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 DX VR or Nikon AF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 DX VR. The fast maximum aperture allows pictures to be taken hand-held in low light levels, while maintaining relatively fast shutter speeds to avoid blur from subject motion (a key advantage over image-stabilised, but slow, kit zooms when photographing people without flash indoors). The slightly less tangible aspects of image quality - such as resistance to flare, and the rendition of out-of-focus regions of the frame - are also dealt with nicely.
If the lens has one major flaw, it is a certain propensity to show chromatic aberration, of both the lateral kind (which can be corrected by the in-camera JPEG processing of the D90 and D300), and the longitudinal (which cannot). To be fair the latter is a pretty well unavoidable with a fast prime, but the 35mm F1.8G DX suffers from it to a rather high degree, and in particular can give some unpleasant purple fringing effects if you're not careful.
Overall, though, it seems almost churlish to complain about these flaws in a lens so inexpensive, which gives otherwise such fine results. It's good to see Nikon finally addressing the lack of purpose-designed, inexpensive fast primes for DX format DSLRs, and we hope they - and other companies - continue with this trend. As it is the 35mm F1.8G DX is, for its winning combination of high image quality, large maximum aperture and low price, a lens which deserves to be on many a Nikon shooter's shopping list.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this take good quality, wide photos of the interior bedrooms and living rooms inside a house |
Answer: | It 's a manual lens, there is no electric contact between camera and lens.Enable "M mode " or "Release without lens " in the settings and focus manually. |
Question: | Does this work for the Nikon D |
Answer: | You are actually describing a lens when you say SELP1650. If you make sure you order the Meike 12mm lens with an E Mount then it will work on the same camera that your SELP1650 lens works on. Note that the Meike 12mm is a fully manual lens, you have to focus on the subject yourself, manually, and also select the aperture you want, and have your camera set to one of its fully manual modes. The SELP1650 lens, on the other hand, works with Automatic Focus and its aperture is also controlled by the camera when you shoot in any of the Auto modes that your camera supports. This is a major difference that you need to be aware of before you order the Meike. The lens itself is a nice lens and will definitely give you a wider angle view than the SEL1650. If you have not used a super wide angle also note that landscapes are going to "look farther away" than they really are. |
Question: | Is this a crop sensor lens like the canon ef-s or a full frame lens like the canon ef lens |
Answer: | Yes, it works with all E mount camera. |
Question: | does it interact with the camera metering system at all |
Answer: | Put your camera on a tripod. Shoot wide open or very close to it: f/2.8 or maybe a half f/stop slower. Your camera should be set to aperture control, the "A" in "PASM" on the control dial. Depending on the ambient light, you might want to limit how high ISO the camera can set automatically. Too high an ISO in dim lighting can throw in enough noise and contrast loss to make the image look unsharp. Set this way, the camera will select an appropriate shutter speed. With ISO restricted (16,000, maybe), that speed setting could be slow. Understand that if your camera lacks in-body image stabilization, slight camera movement could've caused your unsharp images. So could a wrong focus setting. This lens' ultrawide view, especially in dim light, can make focusing accurately visually, on the LCD, difficult. Set your camera up as suggested above and make four exposures, one with the focus setting halfway between 2 and 3 feet, then one with the focus indicator line slightly left of 3 (a gap between the line and 3 about equal to the thickness of your thumbnail. Then an exposure with focus set on 3, then another set slightly right of 3, maybe a distance twice the thickness of your thumbnail. Review those images zoomed in and look for the one with best overall sharpness. Final note: Depth of field worked one way back in the analog camera and film days. Then, stopping down to as small a lens opening as f/22 increased depth of field in a way that doesn't work well today. Digital camera lenses often get their best sharpness and reasonably good depth of field wide open or within about four f/stops of wide open. Go smaller than f/8 or f/11, depending on the lens, and you start degrading sharpness because of diffraction. Ultrawide lenses inherently render plenty depth of field. I can shoot most subjects sharply and great depth of field with my Meike 12mm focus ring set slightly right of the 3-foot mark, sharp from where I'm standing to near-infinity distance. Good luck. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Le queda a una Nikon D |
Answer: | Nikon provides a compatibility chart that shows the limitations (if any) with their lenses. I'll try and paste the link here, but if that does not work you can easily find the chart on the internet. http://www.nikonusa.com/en_INC/IMG/Assets/Common-Assets/Images/Teleconverter-Compatibility/EN_Comp_chart.html |
Question: | is the 18-140mm a wide angle lens |
Answer: | No, it won't. That lens is not on the compatibility list at nikonusa.com. There is another website that explains teleconverters in a fair amount of detail, and it doesn't list the 28-300 mm lens either. https://backcountrygallery.com/all-about-teleconverters-tcs/ |
Question: | Will this len work with Nikon D |
Answer: | The D500 Yes. I don't know about the lens but Nikon could give you the answer. |
Question: | My certified refurbished lens arrived in bubble wrap without a box or warranty. Is this typical for a refurbished product |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit d |
Answer: | Very well. However, in low light situations it reverts to black and white, as most cameras do. |
Question: | How much difference would i notice between vr and non-vr lenses |
Answer: | It is a true PTZ camera so Pan Tilt Zoom with a Horizontal field of view: 65.6°–2.0° Lens 4.3–129 mm, F1.6–4.7 Horizontal field of view: 65.6°–2.0° Vertical field of view: 39.0°–1.2° Autofocus, auto-iris |
Question: | Does it work with d |
Answer: | No it does not come with the mount. There are multiple mount options you can order separately depending on your mounting method. We used the Axis PoE injector which worked fine. Have not tried it with a PoE switch directly, but it should be no problem. Just be sure that the switch is PoE+ which provides more power than standard PoE. The camera requires more power than standard PoE. |
Question: | Does it work with D 5600 Nikon |
Answer: | no it is not waterproof. Nor does it have an outdoor rated housing. Whomever added that to the description did so in error. |
Product description
Professional Tulip Lens Hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light (flare) from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Screw-mount lens hoods, such as this 55mm, are designed to screw right into your lens or filter. Rear locking ring allows the user to rotate the hood in 360°direction.
Why should you use lens hoods?
Essentially, a lens hood acts to block out light that the lens shouldn’t be receiving, which can contribute to aberrations such as flare, particularly when shooting towards the light. Wide angle lenses, due to their expanded field of view, are naturally prone to gathering stray light, though the reduced field of view on standard and telephoto lenses means that for accuracy, the use of lens hoods is just as important.
- Fits all 55mm and 58mm lenses
- The addition of a lens hood can help prevent flares-those circles of light that can accompany images where a strong light source is just outside the frame
- Professional tulip shape design (also known as 'flower' or 'petal' shape) allows for greater versatility
- Protects Lens from Accidental Impact
- Easy to use screw mount lens hood screws right onto your lens or filter.
User questions & answers
Question: | Bought this for my nikon d7500 with nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6g vr af-p. hood shape is taken at zoom 18-24 distance. is this not fit to d |
Answer: | The size of the hood is taken from the diameter of the lens, not focal length. Diameter should be printed on the lens at the end farthest from the camera, looking into the lens. |
Question: | Does this fit for 75-300 nikon lens?? I have 18-55mm and 75-300mm lens for Nikon D |
Answer: | It fits my Nikon 75-300 lens. Buy it. If it doesn't work, return it. |
Question: | can you use a uv or polarizer filter with these lens hoods on |
Answer: | Yes. You can attach the filter to the lens and then you can attach the hood to the filters. |
Question: | What is the purpose of these? What do you do with them |
Answer: | 1 they protect the lens from being scratched. 2 they shade the lens, helping to reduce reflections from bright lights including the sun. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can use for surveillance and photo birds, animals |
Answer: | The lens is completely manual. Unlike any auto focus lens you might have this lens does not interact with the camera. Attach the lens turn on the camera, turn the mode dial to M and take a picture. It won't be in focus and the exposure will be wrong but it will show that it takes a picture. You will need to to turn the focus ring to get a clear picture. You will need to change the aperture by turning the ring, changing shutter speed, or the ISO - sometimes all 3! The camera does nothing for you. Google 'Sunny 16' to get some guidance on where to start with setting the exposure. I brought this lens for a trip to the Smoky Mountains - wanted a long lens but didn't want to spend big dollars. I practiced before the trip. Got a couple of cute pictures of bear cubs playing and elk that I would have never gotten with my 200 mm. I takes some work but you will learn from the experience if you never shot manual before. You will need to use a tripod or rest the lens on something solid to avoid blur except in bright light with a very, very fast shutter. Good Luck, have patience and stick with it! |
Question: | If lens installed on D3200 with no issue, set to manual and see the image on the camera display, but after taking shot, the resulting photo is black |
Answer: | I have the minimax 250 and need to replace the flange. Did anyone determine if this will fit? |
Question: | Will do I need a tripod? Do I need a flash to make picture to come out |
Answer: | Gasket only part number 071895 |
Question: | I purchased this lens to use with my nikon d3100 and d3200, it will not communicate with my camera, it says "lens not attached", help please |
Answer: | Yes it dose |
