*1. Among 24-70mm F/2.8 interchangeable lenses for DSLR cameras (as of May, 2017; Tamron)

See the world with new sharpness and clarity

The use of new specialized, high quality glass materials that offer greater optical transmittance are used in the new model A032 to ensure superior color reproduction and even greater sharpness. The A032 lens comprises 17 glass elements in 12 groups, including: 2 XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass elements to counteract optical aberrations; 3 LD (Low Dispersion) elements to minimize axial chromatic aberrations that can occur with telephoto, as well as transverse chromatic aberrations that can be an issue with wide-angle; 3 GM (glass-molded aspherical) elements; and 1 hybrid aspherical lens element that effectively neutralizes spherical aberrations and distortions to create superior image quality. Thanks to a combination of these special glass materials, the A032 achieves previously unseen levels of accurate color reproduction and depictive performance.

eBAND Coating dramatically curbs ghosting and flare

The new A032 features Tamron’s original eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating, a technology that combines an extremely-low-refractive-index nano-structured layer with conventional multiple-layer coating techniques to provide superior anti-reflection performance. The optimal application of this eBAND Coating in combination with Tamron’s BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating successfully and substantially curbs the ghosting and flare that can occur when photographing backlit subjects.

The highest vibration compensation (VC) levels in its class

The new A032 zoom lens is equipped with Tamron’s original VC (Vibration Compensation) system. With the addition of an MPU specially dedicated to VC processing, the A032 offers the highest vibration compensation available,*1with CIPA image stabilization performance level of 5 stops.*2 Now you can enjoy jitter-free handheld shooting and more flexibility—even in low light conditions.

User questions & answers

Question: I use the a6400, should I get this or the sigma trio
Answer: Yes the Tamron SP 24-70/2.8 VC is a great lens for any Canon DSLR.
Question: Will this work with Sony a
Answer: I can't tell what your camera is, as the % key seems to have gotten in the way, but I am going to assume it's a 5D, since 5 is also the % key, lol. In any case, it is likely one of two things happened here, both of which are basically the same problem. Either you accidentally ordered the non-Canon mount, or you were sent the wrong mount by accident. Tamron makes this same lens for Canon and Nikon, where the only difference between them is the mount they use. You can only use the Canon version on your camera. You can check this by looking on the rear of the mount. The Canon model will have 7 gold contacts on the plate, while the Nikon lens will instead have 8 silver-ish pins that are facing the side. So check your lens, and if it turns out you have the Nikon version, then get an exchange going. If this is not the case, and you do have the Canon lens, then it could be that it is just a bit stiff. Sometimes new lenses need a few twist on and off the camera to break in. Not uncommon. Don't force it though. I would think it's more likely you have the wrong mount. For more information about the 24-70mm lens, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the lens, and also has sample images taken with the lens. There is also a comparisons/suggestions section for other lenses that you might have considered. Question: Is the a five year warranty like the photo says or a 6 year warranty as written on the product page
Answer: If you purchase the lens from us then it will qualify for the Tamron warranty since we are an authorize dealer of their products. -Cameta Camera
Question: How would this preform in the night time photography in nyc? What about vlogging
Answer: The basic answer is yes, but I personally don't suggest it. Read on for more info... The long and short of it is that after crop factor is applied for the crop sensor of the 80D, this lens becomes 38-112mm. With a lens like this, in most the common situations that it is used, it mostly needs to be shot at the wide-mid ranges. I find that most my shots fall between 28-40mm when using this on my 5D, and on a crop sensor you lose that range. What I would suggest instead is a lens like the EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM, or the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art, because those lenses offer a better overall range on your camera, and cost significantly less than the 24-70mm. Each can be found for 600 USD if you can wait for a sale. I have and use both regularly. If you would like more info about any of the lenses I have mentioned here, you should check out the reviews I have on my profile. All my reviews cover the pros and cons, offer advice for how to use the gear, and also have sample images taken with the gear. In your everyday life and on your trips to distant places, this lens captures all the excitement and discoveries with the finest possible detail. *Di III-A is the new designation for Tamron's line of lenses exclusively for APS-C mirrorless cameras.

Fast F2.8 aperture available throughout the entire zoom range

The 17-70mm F2.8 maintains its large F2.8 maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range (unlike variable aperture lenses that darken as you zoom). Thanks to F2.8 and high optical performance, 17-70mm F2.8 allows you to capture your subjects with clear details from wide angle to telephoto. The three main advantages of a large F2.8 aperture are: A) ability to shoot successfully in lower light levels, B) beautiful and dreamy bokeh, and C) better control of depth-of-field which is particularly useful when intentionally limiting depth-of-field to improve portraits by blurring the area behind the main subject. Structurally, the optical formula includes 16 elements in 12 groups. It was created in pursuit of superior optical performance, utilizing an effective allocation of two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements and one aspherical hybrid lens element. The optical design ensures high resolution and high contrast not just in the center of the frame but also in corners and at the edges.

User questions & answers

Question: Debating between this and the sony fe 85mm f1.8 full-frame e-mount fast prime lens. want it for grad and product portraits
Answer: I like the 85 more for portraits but for product work the Tamron will give you a focal point from inches away. I guess it depends on what the higher priority is...
Question: Is it fully compatible eith every emount system like the A7rii? Some answers here are making me concerned
Answer: I have an a7rii, I absolutely love the lense. Obviously it’s not a G Master lens but you can’t beat it for the price!
Question: Does the lens work well with Eye AF
Answer: On a A7RIII Eye AF works with this lens.
Question: Having a difficult time deciding between this lens or the Sony 24-105 F
Answer: I have both and while the Sony is quite sharp, the 2.8 on the Tamron is hard to beat for bokeh wide open. The thing is the Sony has image stabilization so depending on your shooting circumstances, it may or may not be helpful vs the 2.8. Also the slightly wider (24 v 28) and longer reach (105 vs 75) of the Sony could be handy again under certain circumstances. Also, the 24-105 is built like a tank and heavy vs the 28-75, so that's another thing to consider as well. My use case is as follows: if I can only carry one lens, I'll use the Sony 24-105 IS. If I'm carrying my full gear load, I'll carry my assortment of lenses (Tamron 17-28, 28-75 and an Canon 70-200 on a sigma adaptor).

Express your vision in intimate detail

An F/2.8 high-speed zoom made for full-frame mirrorless.

Packing cutting-edge technology into a compact body, Tamron has created a high-speed zoom lens specifically designed for mirrorless cameras: the 28–75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036). A great addition to the Sony E-mount, the A036 strikes a beautiful balance between vibrant image quality, superb bokeh, compact size and lighter weight. Specialized glass elements throughout control various aberrations and produce stable resolution across the entire zoom range. All the lens surface is treated with Tamron’s proprietary BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating, which dramatically reduces ghosting and flaring while preserving crisp image quality. The A036 also incorporates an all-new high-speed precision AF drive system with an RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) motor unit that is remarkably quiet. all its full-frame beauty.

In addition to portraits, nature shots and street photography, the 0.19m Minimum Object Distance lets you enjoy new forms of photographic expression with close-up shooting at the wide-angle end. With Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating, this lens offers exceptional mobility and outdoor functionality. It is the only zoom you need to portray the world in all its full-frame beauty.

The A036 zoom is designed to maximize the potential of full-frame mirrorless cameras. Because it is designed to be your most frequently used high-speed zoom, we made it compact. Now you can enjoy advanced optical performance in a compact size with lightweight convenience. It weighs just 550g (19.4 oz) with a length of 117.8mm (4.6 in).

Outstanding image quality meets delicate bokeh

The A036 zoom delivers a dazzling balance of clear yet soft rendering, stunning bokeh and exceptional resolution for in-focus areas. It also captures the finer details across the entire focus plane with performance that supports the latest high-resolution cameras—all while expressing the characteristic smoothness of a fast aperture lens. Stunning bokeh spreads gently from the plane of focus to highlight your subject. By stopping down the aperture, you can alter how images are rendered. The lens also incorporates a nine-bladed aperture that produces beautifully round defocused light points. And Tamron’s distinctive image characteristics, which produce more than just a different degree of blur with F-stop changes, add even more impact.

Superb AF keeps it sharp and quiet

The AF drive on the A036 includes an RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) motor unit to help you stay focused on the action. RXD uses an actuator to precisely control the rotational angle of the motor, allowing it to directly drive the focusing lens without passing through a reduction gear. A sensor that accurately detects the position of the lens enables high-speed and precise AF, which is ideal when shooting continually moving subjects or video. With a focusing system that is both smooth and quiet, the A036 lets you shoot a video without worrying about picking up ambient drive sounds.

Di II

Lenses are designed for exclusive use on digital cameras with smaller-size imagers and inherit all of the benefits of our Di products. These lenses are not designed for conventional cameras and digital cameras with image sensors larger than 24mm x 16mm.

Vibration Compensation (VC)

Handheld camera shake is the leading cause of blurry and unsharp pictures. Several leading companies now make lenses with built-in optical image-stabilization systems that sense the amplitude and direction of the shake and compensate by moving optical groups within the lens. Tamron’s exclusive new Vibration Compensation (VC) system that’s built into the Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro and the Tamron AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro lenses performs a similar function, but it executes it much more effectively due to its innovative breakthrough design
  • VC delivers blur free - handheld images for incredible results
  • VC mechanism employs a three-coil system
  • Lens element compensates for vibration using 3-steel balls (making movement quiet & smooth)
  • Exceptional images at slower shutter speeds – reduces the need for a tripod
  • Bring out contrast to motion & stillness
  • Eliminate the need to shoot with a Flash

Aspherical Elements (ASL) Provide the Ultimate in Image Quality and Compactness)

Tamron uses several hybrid aspherical lens elements in many lenses bearing the Aspherical designation. These innovative optics allow us to achieve the ultimate in image quality, and at the same time produce lenses that offer remarkable zoom ranges in extraordinarily compact packages. By perfecting theses cutting-edge advances for series production, Tamron has advanced the state of optical design, and virtually eliminated spherical aberration and image distortion from the high-power-zoom series.Through the effective application of Hybrid Aspherical Technology, one lens elemen tcan take the place of multiple elements without compromising performance. This is what allows us to produce remarkably compact long-range lenses that deliver a uniformly high level of image quality at all focal lengths and apertures.

Tamron AF 18-250 AASL Image 2
Achieve the ultimate in image quality with Asperical (ASL) lenses
    Extra Refractive Index Glass (XR)

Extra Refractive Index (XR) glass can bend light rays at steeper angles, thereby decreasing the physical length of the lens while enhancing imaging performance by minimizing optical aberrations. This has allowed Tamron to develop a line of shorter, smaller-diameter, lighter lenses without sacrificing lens speed, and actually upgrading image quality compared to older designs. XR glass is costlier than conventional glass but it yields enhanced optical power distribution, making possible many of the outstanding and innovative lens designs that bear the XR designation. XR glass, with its superior light-bending power, makes it possible to design a short-barrel lens with the same light-gathering ability (aperture value) as a long-barrel lens—even with a smaller lens diameter. By using this principle Tamron has been able to shorten the length of the entire optical system and produce lighter, more compact lenses of the same speed, and also to provide greater zoom ranges in lenses that are much more convenient to carry by hand.

Super Performance (SP) for Discriminating Shooters

Tamron SP (Super Performance) series is a line of ultra-high-performance lenses designed and manufactured to the exacting specifications demanded by professionals and others who require the highest possible image quality. In creating SP lenses Tamron’s optical designers put their foremost priority on achieving superior performance parameters—they are all designed to a higher standard with little regard for cost constraints. As a result, Tamron lenses bearing the SP designation feature impressive and innovative designs that have established an enviable reputation for excellence among those knowledgeable photographers that demand the very best.

    Low Dispersion (LD)

Low dispersion (LD) glass elements in a lens help reduce chromatic aberration; the tendency of light of different colors to come to different points of focus at the image plane. Chromatic aberration reduces the sharpness of an image, but glass with an extremely lowdispersion index, has less of a tendency to separate (defract) a ray of light into a rainbow of colors. This characteristic allows the lens designer to effectively compensate for chromatic aberration at the center of the field (on axis), a particular problem at long focal lengths (the telephoto end of the zoom range), and for lateral chromatic aberration (towards the edges of the field) that often occurs at short focal lengths (the wide-angle end of the zoom range.)

    Internal Focus (IF)

Internal focusing (IF) provides numerous practical benefits to photographers including a non-rotating front filter ring that facilitates the positioning of polarizing and graduated filters, and more predictable handling because the lens length does not change during focusing. Even more important, Tamron’s Internal Focusing (IF) system provides a much closer minimum focusing distance (MFD) throughout its entire focusing range. In addition, IF improves optical performance by minimizing illumination loss at the corners of the image field, and helps to suppress other aberrations that become more troublesome at different focusing positions

    Zoom Lock (ZL)

Another original Tamron mechanical engineering concept is the Zoom Lock (ZL), a simple convenience feature that prevents undesired extension of the lens barrel when carrying the camera/lens unit on a neck strap..

User questions & answers

Question: Does this lens already factor in the crop sensor, so it would be 17-50 on a crop sensor, or would it be actually 17-50 x
Answer: Yes and you save money too
Question: Is this a wide angle lens and will if fit on a Canon D
Answer: Yes.
Question: Does Tamron's VC will be good enough for video shooting like Canon's IS (Stabilisation
Answer: If you're buying from an authorized USA dealer (like us) then it's a 6 year USA warranty.
Question: How does this compare with the Canon 17-55 lens? Also, is it cropped dimensions,or would it actually be x1.6 for the Canon t3i (like the canon
Answer: I don't vlog, but the still shot I took in may alley, late one evenings surprised me. The settings on my a6400 were - 17mm; ISO (Auto) 5000; 2ev (I wanted to cut down on single lights burning out textures around them); f3.5; 1/125 shutter speed. I cropped in to the specific area of the shot (8.8 Mb image) and found good contrast, crisp edges on fencing, brick textures visible, along with some wood grain on telephone pole and of course some visible graininess, but you're dealing with an ISO of 5000 (this was viewed on a 39 inch Samsung TV screen). New York City is way brighter than my alley. I know because I was stationed at the USCG base, Governor's Island in the 70s. So I don't think you'll have issues with taking some remarkable images at night in NYC.
