9 best sports lens for canon efs
Sports lenses for Canon EF-S cameras are specialized camera lenses designed for capturing fast-paced sports and action photography. These lenses are an essential tool for professional and enthusiast photographers who want to freeze high-speed moments and capture sharp, detailed images of athletes in motion. Here's what you need to know about sports lenses for Canon EF-S cameras:
Telephoto Focal Lengths: Sports lenses are typically telephoto lenses with long focal lengths, such as 70-200mm, 100-400mm, or even 200-400mm. These focal lengths allow photographers to get close-up shots of distant subjects, such as athletes on a field or players on a court.
Fast Apertures: One of the critical features of sports lenses is their fast maximum aperture, often in the range of f/2.8 to f/4. A wide aperture enables more light to enter the lens, allowing for faster shutter speeds and better performance in low-light conditions.
Image Stabilization: Some sports lenses come equipped with image stabilization (IS) technology, which helps reduce camera shake when shooting handheld at slow shutter speeds or using longer focal lengths.IS is particularly useful for capturing stable images during sports events.
Fast Autofocus: Sports lenses are designed with fast and accurate autofocus systems. They use advanced autofocus motors and algorithms to quickly track and focus on moving subjects, ensuring that you don't miss critical moments.
Weather-Sealed Construction: Many sports lenses are built with weather-sealed construction, making them resistant to dust and moisture. This durability is essential for outdoor sports photography in various weather conditions.
L-Series Quality: Canon's L-series lenses are renowned for their high optical quality and build construction. Many sports lenses in the Canon EF-S lineup are part of the L-series, ensuring exceptional image quality.
Customizable Focus Range Limiter: Some sports lenses offer a focus range limiter, allowing you to limit the lens's focus range to a specific distance. This feature can help improve autofocus speed by reducing the range the lens needs to search when focusing.
Tripod Mounts: Longer sports lenses often come with tripod mounts to help balance the camera and lens on a tripod or monopod for extended shooting sessions.
Compatibility: Canon EF-S sports lenses are designed specifically for Canon APS-C sensor cameras, such as those in the Canon EOS Rebel series and other EF-S compatible DSLRs. They provide the ideal focal length for capturing sports and action on these cameras.
Price Range: Sports lenses with advanced features can be relatively expensive due to their high-quality optics and specialized capabilities. However, they are considered a valuable investment for photographers who regularly shoot sports and action.
In summary, sports lenses for Canon EF-S cameras are essential tools for capturing fast-paced sports and action photography. With their long telephoto focal lengths, fast apertures, and advanced autofocus systems, these lenses enable photographers to capture sharp and dynamic images of athletes and sporting events. Their durability, image quality, and compatibility with Canon APS-C cameras make them a popular choice for sports photographers.

Incorporating Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology, this Canon 55-250mm telephoto zoom lens captures long distance, low-light shots far better than many comparable lenses, helping you photograph the far-off action of athletes or zoom in for an intimate portrait with a blurred background. The high-zoom-ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format (when used on Canon EOS cameras compatible with EF-S lenses). More significantly, the image stabilizer effect creates an equivalent shutter speed of roughly four stops faster than the same size lens without an image stabilizer. In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you can hold a 250mm lens steadily is normally 1/250th of a second, this Canon lens will let you hand-hold shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second. The lens also boasts a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration to create excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. Delivering an excellent performance at an affordable price for all photographers, the 55-250mm lens carries a one-year warranty.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit on the 70d |
Answer: | If you like to use it as a wide angle converter, you have to use both together. If you want to use it as a macro concerter, you separete the two parts and use only the macro part. |
Question: | Will this work on the 80d |
Answer: | A lot of money! Seriously, tho, I am a very amateur photographer and no judge of these things. I bought it on a whim because it was so cheap. I've been very happy with the pictures I took with the lens, but have not compared its pictures with the better lenses. It does not replace the Canon's basic lens as the more expensive one probably would, but goes OVER it. |
Question: | Any advice on what lens to buy to take shots across soccer field |
Answer: | Yes it does, Depends on the Lens you use and how you use it.on the 18-55mm when you zoom out under 24mm, youll get some vignetting and optical blur.On the 50mm its not bad. |
Question: | Is this a "macro" lens? I needed a lens for microscopic detail |
Answer: | Yes, just make sure it's the right size.. It screws on to the front of existing lens. I love this lens. |

Isolate the Interesting Part
The eye tends to see the whole rather than the individual parts. It also sees whatís near and not whatís far. By bringing attention to those things missed by the eye, you can create many interesting pictures. It could be the grimace of an athlete, the grill of a classic car, or a girl against a blurred background. Telephoto lenses can also compress images to give dramatic effects. You are limited only by your imagination.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the filter size for this lens |
Answer: | 58mm |
Question: | Can I use this lens with my cannon T7i |
Answer: | I am not an expert on lens compatibility. But I do believe this lens will perform just fine on any Canon auto focus camera. |
Question: | Will this work on canon eos rebel xti |
Answer: | It will; your camera can use all EF and EF-S lenses. However, I think you will be better off avoiding this lens and going for the EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM instead. It is a little more expensive (about 200 bucks), but is a FAR better lens. The only thing the 75-300mm has over it is the 50mm of extra reach. The 55-250mm has IS, better image quality, faster and smoother focus, sharper at all zoom ranges, and a few other minor advantages like rear element focusing (front of lens doesn't rotate). Best of all, it will fit your camera! And while the 75-300mm is considered the worst lens in the Canon lineup, the 55-250mm is considered the best telephoto for under a grand. If the IS STM is a little too expensive, then the older model, the IS II is still a decent lens as well, for a little more than the 75-300mm. If you want some more info, I have a review for that lens on my profile. Hope that helped! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens |
Answer: | This will fit in any lens with a 52mm symbol on next to the glass part. |
Question: | I'm seeing mixed reviews. I have a t3. Will this fit, and can I use the macro by itself or do I have to use fisheye. 2 in 1 or 1 in |
Answer: | Yes. I have a T3 and I bought one of these it fits perfectly. It's the capability as compared to the Canon brand that it will not measure up to but it served my purpose...good value |
Question: | I have a Nikon D3300 that came with the standard 18-55 mm lense. Will this filter be able to fit onto my lense |
Answer: | no this will not fit on a Nikon 18-55mm lens, everything you read even Nikon's lens to filter chart will tell you that the 18-55mm vr lens has a 52mm tread but I have a d3400 that came with the 18-55mm vr lens and I also have a 52mm filter and a 52mm screw on wide angle lens the same as this minus the fish eye and neither will screw onto my 18-55mm vr lens , they are too small.. however a 55mm filter or threaded lens will fit the 18-55mm vr lens because it has a 55mm thread on it. |
Question: | Does the fisheye wide angle lens make your pictures have the circle in a black rectangle or is it full-frame fisheye without the black border |
Answer: | I use it with my 18-55mm kit lens that came with my Camera. When you have it attached and zoomed to 18mm it will have a bit of fisheye in the corners of the frame, if you zoom in a little you can basically eliminate it. I always do that. |

This lens's long reach is enhanced by the inclusion of an Ultra-Low Dispersion element, which helps to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for greater clarity and color accuracy throughout the zoom range. A Super Spectra coating is also featured, and minimizes flare and ghosting in order to produce greater contrast when working in bright lighting conditions. Benefitting both photo and video applications, an STM stepping AF motor is used to realize quick and near-silent autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a four-stop-effective Image Stabilizer system is also featured and minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.
- Long-reaching zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 88-400mm, covering portrait-length to telephoto perspectives.
- Optical image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 shutter speed steps to benefit shooting handheld in dim lighting and with greater zoom magnifications.
- The STM stepping focus motor produces near-silent, smooth, and quick autofocus performance that is well-suited to video applications.
- One ultra-low dispersion element helps to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion while also contributing to greater image sharpness, contrast, and clarity.
- Enhanced lens coatings minimize flare and ghosting in order to produce true colors with maintained contrast.
User questions & answers
Question: | the picture shows the lens with an AF/MF toggle, but in the product info it says it's automatic only, is this true |
Answer: | Yes. It should be. As long as your original lens was an efs lens. I have one to replace my kit lens 18 to 55mm on a rebel t5 and the t3 is supposed to be the same basic body as the t5. |
Question: | What is the difference between this item and the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II |
Answer: | Yes. No problem. |
Question: | Hi, is this compatible with rebel t6i (750D |
Answer: | The lens will fit well the T7i |
Question: | Does it fit the rebel SL |
Answer: | Our camera is a Rebel T6, however it is my understanding that all the DSLR Canon cameras universally fit the different lenses. This one works great. |

Get Closer
Sometimes you just need to get closer – but you can’t. Such as when a subject is likely to be scared off by your presence or when you just want to be discreet while capturing a special moment. This is when a telephoto zoom lens, like the EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, comes into its own.
Go Everywhere with Extra Reach
The extra reach of the EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6 IS STM perfectly compliments a standard zoom like the EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. Together these portable, lightweight lenses offer a versatile zoom range to cover a range of subjects.
Stay Sharp
To help maintain sharpness this lens incorporates Canon’s Image Stabilizer technology. This allows shutter speeds up to 3.5 stops slower than normal to be used while protecting against the effects of camera shake – better in low light or when shooting at long zoom settings.
Smooth, Quiet STM Focusing When Shooting Movies
STM technology provides quiet continuous focusing when capturing video with your EOS and fast, accurate AF when shooting photos. STM focusing is so quiet that it’s not picked up by the camera’s microphone, leaving your video soundtracks free of unwanted distractions.
Get Started

Get Focus
Get the lens that blurs backgrounds while keeping your subject pin-sharp - letting you be selective with what's in focus. A lens that lets you shoot atmospheric pictures, even when the light starts to fade.

Answer: | Yes, it comes with both caps. |
Question: | Will this lense fit my canon t7i |
Answer: | The Canon EF-S 55-250mm will fit and operate on the T7i. Keep in mind that the equivalent focal range translates to 88-400mm which is an excellent range for productive photography use. I use this lens often with my Canon 80D and find it produces excellent images and the AF is fast and accuarate. This lens coupled with a standard range lens and the 100mm 1.8 prime lens makes for a very useful lens kit. |
Question: | Is this lens manufacturer-refurbished or seller refurbished? If Canon-refurbed, how long is the warranty |
Answer: | Mine was a Canon USA refurb with all of the Canon refurb paperwork. Also, when I registered my lens on the Canon USA product website, it showed it as a Canon USA product, like lenses I purchased from Canon USA refurb before. |
Question: | Will this fit my Canon T-4i |
Answer: | Yes, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 STM fits all Canon crop sensor cameras (EF-S), including the Ti-Rebel series. It is an excellent lens for the price. |
