Answer: | Yes, the focus in general is louder than in a normal lens. Part of the reason is because it’s is an electrical focus system rather than mechanical (both auto and manual focus). Also, this is one of Sony’s cheapest FE lens so I wouldn’t expect much out of it. I don’t recommend this lens for cinematography. If you want a better alternative try the Sony Zeiss FE 55mm F1.8. It is very quiet and has amazing optical quality. Only issue I have with that one is “onion ring bokeh”. |

Answer: | Yes this will work perfect on an APS-C camera such as the a6300 (also a6000, a6100, a6400, a6500, a6600 or any e-mount camera from Sony), but on an APS-C this is also a 50mm lense and that's it!, whatever you see through this lense on an APS-C body will be your 50mm experience and simply learn from it, don't fall into the trap of doing math to get the look and feel of a system you DON'T own (a full frame system for example), and probably you will never buy unless you get invested into photography and try to adapt your photo style into the look and feel of such a system (full frame bodies) in which case your APS-C photos would look zoomed in as if you where taking photos on a full frame system with a 75mm lense. Nobody is putting smartphone lense equivalencies or full frame equivalencies over oil paints at museums, it is irrelevant. Think about that for a moment. |

Answer: | This supports the FE (full frame) cameras (A7x series), the E 50/1.8 OSS is for the APS-C crop bodies (NEX, A5xxx, A6xxx). Both will mechanically mount and function on any E or FE body but the E 50mm will result in a cropped image on the full frame bodies. The FE will work on any body without compromising the image - however the FE lens is a different design and has a different motor. In my experience, it is noisier and slower to focus. It should also be clear that the FE model doesn't include stabilization and relies on IBIS with the bodies which offer it. I've owned both lenses so I know them well. IMHO, the E 50/1.8 OSS is a better choice if you are using an APS-C body. |

However, you need to consider many other factors when chooging a tripod. You might want to google how to choose a tripod/head. You need to look at load capacity, height, weight, folded length, ball heads, graphite, carbon fiber or aluminum, type of leg locks, pan & tilt range, with or without center column, your budget, etc.. Depending on what kinds of conditions or subjects you shoot, some of these factors may not be at all important to you. But you don't want to pay extra for features you don't want or need. I probably use a tripod less than 5% of the time. I don't do landscape and If I eliminated the few times a year that I shoot night skies or do light painting, I would not need or use a tripod. |

Answer: | Technically the focal length is still 24mm. The lens does not change when mounted on a full frame or apsc camera. What is different is the field of view. The a6500 + 24mm will view the full frame equivalent of a 36mm lens. This is not the same as using say the 35mm f1.8 OSS on the a6500. This would have the effective equivalent of 52.5mm on full frame. The focal length number on a lens whether it is made for full frame or aps is the designed length. But the effective field of view will be different depending on what sensor it is mounted to. |

Answer: | Very similar. The Zeiss has their patented T* coating so you get a little bit warmer color, and the Zeiss is f/2 - f/22. The Sony has a little bit more natural color reproduction, 11 blade circular aperture, assignable function button, auto/manual focus switch, aperture ring with de-click option for smooth aperture transition (great for video) and the aperture range is f/1.8 - f/16. Both are excellent lenses. |

Answer: | It says on box "made in Thailand". This is my second Zeiss. I still own the SEL24F18, both are built to extremely high standard, no flex at all. The only sub par component of the older Zeiss was the petal hood that fell apart in less than a year, I had to superglue it back together. The older lens has seen hell and still going strong after 3 years of heavy use. I tell you all this cos I was worried too, but when you see the images you get from the lens, wow! Also, unlike the other E mount Zeiss, I have not read about a single bad copy of the lens. Hope this helps |

Answer: | In general, don't use the clear UV filter with this lens. It will degrade the image quality. If you care so little about the image quality, you should not get this lens. Get the SEL50F18F and save hundreds of dollars. If you must use an UV filter, do not use the cheap Tiffen UV filter offered in a bundle. Use a Heliopan, or a Zeiss, or at the very least a B&W. |

Answer: | This will FIT on any e-mount camera, a6000, a6300, a5100, NEX, and ALL of the A7 (full frame) variants. BUT on an A7 it will either shoot in APS-C mode (using the same size area on the full frame sensor as an APS-C camera (a5xxx/a6xxx/NEX) and produce a lower resolution than the normal photo on the full-frame setting. You can shoot on the full-frame sensor setting on an A7(r/ii etc.) but you will see vignetting. |

Answer: | Hello. Lenses with f/2.8 let in more light compared to an f/4 lens so shutter speeds can be set faster as well as ISO values set lower for the same exposure. Also, the f/2.8 lens will have more bokeh when shot at the widest aperture compared to f/4. |
