3 best canon mount lenses

Canon mount lenses are a type of interchangeable lens designed specifically for Canon digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) and mirrorless cameras. These lenses are crafted to fit the Canon EF (Electro-Focus) mount system, which is used for Canon's full-frame and APS-C sensor cameras, as well as the RF mount system, which is designed for their mirrorless cameras.

Here are some key aspects of Canon mount lenses:

  1. EF Mount Lenses: Canon EF lenses are primarily designed for Canon DSLR cameras with an EF mount. These lenses cover a wide range of focal lengths, from ultra-wide-angle to super-telephoto, and include various types such as prime, zoom, and specialty lenses like macro and fisheye.

  2. RF Mount Lenses: Canon RF lenses are designed for Canon's full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras that utilize the RF mount. These lenses are known for their optical quality and are often characterized by their compact size and advanced features.

  3. Compatibility: EF and EF-S lenses are compatible with Canon DSLRs, while RF lenses are designed exclusively for Canon mirrorless cameras with the RF mount. However, you can use EF lenses on Canon mirrorless cameras with an adapter.

  4. Image Stabilization: Many Canon lenses, especially newer ones, come with built-in image stabilization (IS) technology, which helps reduce camera shake and allows for better handheld shooting in low light conditions.

  5. Autofocus: Canon lenses generally offer fast and accurate autofocus performance, which is crucial for capturing sharp and precise images. Some lenses also feature ultrasonic motors (USM) or stepper motors (STM) for silent and smooth focusing.

  6. Lens Mount Adapters: Canon offers adapters that allow you to use EF and EF-S lenses on RF-mount cameras. These adapters maintain compatibility while enabling existing Canon DSLR users to transition to Canon's mirrorless lineup.

  7. L-Series Lenses: Canon's L-series lenses are known for their high-quality optics, build quality, and weather sealing. They are often preferred by professional photographers for their superior image quality and durability.

  8. Third-Party Options: Besides Canon-branded lenses, there are also third-party manufacturers like Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina that produce lenses with Canon mounts, providing users with additional options.

  9. Lens Accessories: Canon lenses often come with accessories like lens hoods, lens caps, and lens filters that help protect the lens and enhance image quality.

In summary, Canon mount lenses are a crucial component of Canon's DSLR and mirrorless camera systems, offering a wide variety of options to suit different photography styles and needs. Whether you're a professional photographer or an amateur enthusiast, Canon's extensive lens lineup provides choices for capturing stunning images and videos.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this not compatible with a full frame camera such as the Canon 6D
Answer: Nope, it doesn't. For wide angle lenses is not common to have that feature. When in doubt, check the coding in the name. If it has an 'IS' it means it has Image Stabilization.
Question: I am confused about wide angle lenses...Is this a good lense to use for portrait type pics and/or as a carry-around lense, mainly to take shots of my on vacations, etc? Do wide angle lenses always cause that "distort" effect of making the image/face look disproportional
Answer: Yes it will. If you look at the 70D you can see a white dot on the silver ring where you attach lenses. That means it takes both regular EF AND EF-S lenses. It's *the* wide lens for crop sensor DSLRs.
Question: Already have 50mm f/1.4 on my T3. For wide-angle should I get this prime(EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM) or the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM(~$100 more
Answer: its a 1.4 so lets in a lot of light, alllowing you to use higher shutter speeds, as a wide angle i use it in daylight so never needed stabilisation. it is an amazingly sharp, accurate lens you will be happy, it is my favorite lens with a a6000
Question: will it work with rebel t5i
Answer: Hello, its an e-mount lens, so yes, it will work with the a6500.

User questions & answers

Question: How much does this canon adapter weigh
Answer: It weighs 6.5 ounces. I put it on a scale.
Question: Is there an adapter the other way around: a mirrorless cam lens to a dslr camera
Answer: Not without an adapter with a glass element in it. The glass element could seriously distort and/or lower the lens's sharpness.
Question: will I loose image quality from my lenses using this adapter
Answer: There is no lens in the adapter so no change in image quality. The adapter just moves the EF or EF-S lens out from the sensor to achieve proper focus. Mine works great with the 100mm macro lens!
Question: Does the adapter affect focal length since it adds length, similar to a lens extender
Answer: This adapter does not affect focal length. This adapter simply allows EF and EF-S lenses to be used on the EOS M lens mount. The length of this adapter puts the lens the same distance away from the camera's image sensor as on a full DSLR camera (like a T4i, 60D, etc.).
