User questions & answers
Question: | Is this compatible with the DMC-G6KK |
Answer: | I had terrible results with that. I am using a Yamaha mixer straight into the camera. I am recording loud electric guitars. The VU meter on the camera is so crude as to be pretty useless. No matter how I set the VU meter or the master on the mixer, the audio would come out distorted badly. Nothing I tried worked. That was my main reason for buying the camera was to use a mixer to use two mics to record a speaker cab. I sent the camera back, the results were just too crude and useless. I ended up buying an upscale Panasonic UX180 that has stereo XLR inputs, a fully manageable recording system in camera with separate audio dials for each channel. My mixer works perfectly with it so I get video and audio on my SD cards to dump straight into Final Cut ProX, works like a dream. I simply could not find another camera that had professional audio recording capabilities using a mixer. I tried a budget JBC pro camcorder, what a horrible piece of junk, the view finder was completely worthless, image quality was terrible, the UX180 is a big camera with big pro features, worth every penny I paid for it. The V770 is a great camera on its own, but dumping audio into, was a huge fail for me, with no work around. |
Question: | Will it work with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF |
Answer: | Max240 |
Question: | Is this fit in GF |
Answer: | The built in mic is excellent. That said, if you want an external mic, I'd suggest one like the Rode VideoMic. You have to supply your own power, there is no phantom power. |
Question: | If you had to choose one panasonic prime lens for your mft camera - would you get this one (25mm) or the 20mm f1.7? main use: portrait, night, street |
Answer: | Yes it does. External Microphone. Another for external headphones. It also has an external hot shoe for boom mic or lighting. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this manual zoom, or can i use a camera app to zoom remotely |
Answer: | Yes. It will. This lens fits all the Canon bodies which has white square marked on lens adapter side. |
Question: | Does the fit the gx |
Answer: | Yes, it will, your camera can use all EF and EF-S lenses. There is a newer version though, the EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM. There are some fairly important updates to the STM version; here is a list of the most important ones… 1. STM v Micro motor focus – The IS ii has an out of date focusing system, which is slow, noisy, and seeks for focus too much, especially zoomed out. The STM focus is faster, smoother, and nearly silent. It also supports continuous focus in movie mode, but only the t4i and newer models. The barrel extends during focusing too, and the IS ii is a bit wobbly fully extended, and the STM is much sturdier. 2. Rear Focusing – the IS ii version has a front element that rotates during focus, a problem if you are trying to use any kind of filter that needs to be positioned in a specific way. This makes it challenging to use a circular polarizer and graduated ND filters. The STM version uses rear focusing, and the front element does not rotate, which eliminates this issue. 3. Improved Optics – There is a noticeable difference in image quality from the IS ii and the STM version. The STM is sharper at all ranges of the zoom. All this does come at a cost, an increase in cost to be exact. The IS ii can be had for a little more than 100 USD right now, and the STM is 300 new. If you already have the IS ii and have no intention of getting a higher quality lens (like the EF 70-200mm F2.8L), then it might not be a bad idea to get the STM version. If you don’t have either, then it is no contest, get the STM, as it is possibly the best telephoto for under a grand. If you would like more info about the 55-250mm lens, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the lens, and even has suggestions for lenses that might work better for you if you have the budget for them. There are also sample images taken with the lens. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1QA3NW3157QWO?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp |
Question: | Could you simply list only what the 'new' version changes/improvments are |
Answer: | I know this is an older question, but I see a lot of similar questions and want to put some info here for everyone to see. Sports like soccer, baseball/softball, or really any outdoor sport played in decent light can take advantage of lenses like this. The limits of the aperture make it more challenging for indoor sports like basketball and volleyball. But for soccer, you really can't do better than this lens for its price. There is also the 75-300mm lens that sometimes gets bundled with cameras, but I really think this lens is better in almost all ways. Better image quality, better focusing, and also has IS. On a crop sensor camera, both will have plenty of range for soccer. I actually have used a 55-250mm for soccer, and it did fine. Plenty of reach, and plenty good photos. Will it be professional quality? Well, no, but it is pretty good for what you will pay. There is also an updated version of the 55-250mm, the IS STM version. It has some nice upgrades, but is over twice the price new. You can find them on ebay or refurbished for about 150 USD, so if that is ok with you, then I would recommend it. It's probably the best telephoto for less than 1000 USD. If you would like some more info about the 55-250mm lens, you should check out my review on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use it, and also has suggestions for other lenses that might be better for you. There are also sample images, and it is the #1 review on amazon for this lens. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1QA3NW3157QWO?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp |
Question: | What's the main differences between this lens and the previous version |
Answer: | I know this is an older question, but I feel this is an interesting one with some very different answers, so I am going to go ahead and leave an answer... To answer your question, this is not a macro lens, though it has a pretty good close focusing distance, about 8-9 inches from the end of the barrel. So, you can place it fairly close to your subject, zoom in a little, and probably get some detail. If this isn't going ot be enough, here are some suggestions... Best method - Get a macro lens. Depending on your intended uses, there are a few options. There is the EF-S 60mm F2.8 macro USM, and the EF 100mm F2.8 macro USM, or if you are ok with third party lenses, the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM. For product photography on APS-C, the 60mm is a good choice. But for tiny objects, like insects, coins, and similar sized things, then the 100mm or 105mm are the better options. I personally prefer the Sigma, since it is stabilized and is about the same price as the Canon 100mm. I actually have a review of the 60mm lens on my profile where I do a comparison with the 100mm, and give a breakdown of when one might be better than the other. Less expensive method - Get Extension tubes. For 80 USD, you can get a set of Kenko extension tubes, which reduce the minimum focusing distance of a lens. This allows you to cheat the focus and the magnification of the lens, thus making a makeshift macro lens out of jsut about any lens. Not as good as a true 1:1 lens, but for 80 bucks it's worth a shot. Plus, if you have the 50mm F1.8 STM, it works very well in this format. One caveat though, be aware that some sets of tubes don't have power supplied to them. These sets will not be compatible with STM lenses, or any other kind of lens that requires power to focus. They also remove other functions from the lens, like aperture control, and IS. I would say for the money the 80 dollar set is a better idea. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between the black and silver versions of this lens? There's quite a price spread! Are they the same |
Answer: | Yes, it is compatible with Canon T3. |
Question: | Hello, if I mount this lens on GX7 body, can I zoom the lens using Image App on iPhone |
Answer: | Yes, however, it is a full frame lens so on the t6i the crop factor is important. This lens will be a 80mm f1.8 on the t6i. It WILL work perfectly but the focal length is the longer 80mm on that camera as it will be on all Canon APS-c sized sensor cameras. It is only a 50mm f1.8 on a full frame Canon Camera like the 5D series. |
Question: | Will it fit and the i o stability on olympus air 1 work |
Answer: | Yes this lens works on all 3 of my cameras: Rebel XT, T5 and 7D mk2 |
Question: | I have this lens on a blackmagic studio camera, and it looks amazing. is there a way to turn off the auto-fstop |
Answer: | I bought this lens because I thought I my Canon lens had been stolen, but it turned up. Now I have both. I did a comparison, shooting the same scene using a tripod. I looked closely at the two photos in Photoshop. The sharpness was identical. Chromatic aberrations, which weren't bad, were the same. The only difference was that the Yongnuo was brighter even though the exposure settings were the same. I'd say half a stop brighter. So you could use the same aperture as the Canon but use a slightly higher shutter speed or lower your ISO. It's a great alternative to the Canon. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the polarized lens ND and is it any good |
Answer: | Yes, it and all other lenses made for "micro four-thirds" ("MFT", "micro 4/3", etc.) are compatible with all MFT bodies in terms of the bayonette mount, although Panasonic and Olympus have different approaches about what functions to put in their lenses vs. in their bodies instead - so, in general, many Olympus lenses work better on Olympus bodies, and many Panasonic lenses work better on Panasonic bodies (even though they share the same mount and electrical contacts). |
Question: | I have a dmc-gx7k. will this work lens work with my camera? if not, does anyone know the appropriate lens to get (would like 2.8 35-100mm |
Answer: | Yes, I actually used it on my GF5... it does look very disproportionate, but it works the same as on any other m 4/3 camera |
Question: | Will it fit lumix dmc g5k |
Answer: | Is this fit in GF3 |
Question: | Has anyone used this with a gx85? i curious if it's too large to be comfortable with that small of a body |
Answer: | The 20mm focus speed is not terrible. It is a bit loud and not suitable for video. I have both and like both. I find I use the 20mm more often. The Normal Lenses, I never really liked all that much. Just because it is the normal view for an eye doesn't mean it is all that useful. I like 42.5mm for portrait, and one of my most used lenses is the 7-14mm. Back to the 20 mm. You can use it for portrait but it's not as good as the longer lens. My recommendation. Get the 20mm and add another lens later. |

Power O.I.S. Compensates Camera Shake for Crisp Images
Capture scenes carefree or at the spur of the moment. The optical image stabilization (O.I.S.) technology built directly into the lens ensures your photos will look great, with sharp blur-free contours across the entire picture.
Taking highly popular MEGA O.I.S. further, this advanced technology immediately compensates even large camera shake and vibrations that may occur in photography. So you can capture true-to-life scenes without the need for a tripod. In the end, you’ll enjoy wonderfully crisp images.
4K Video Support for High-Resolution Recording
With video support any user has everything they need for recording with their LUMIX camera. Not only does it perform smooth aperture changes so there are no sudden jumps in exposure, it also boasts a silent design for enhanced capture of the scene’s audio. What’s more, the stunning AF performance of this lens records excellent 4K video, where precise focusing is essential.
Nano Surface Coating Reduces Reflections
Put an end to unwanted ghosting and flaring – the Nano Surface Coating has been applied to lenses within the system. This special, ultra-thin coating was developed originally by Panasonic to reduce bothersome reflections across the entire light spectrum. The result: crystal-clear pictures even if you’re photographing a light source in the dark.
High-Quality Lens Construction for Uniform Image Quality
Aspherical (ASPH) lenses reduce size and weight, effectively preventing spherical and distortion aberration.
Ultra-high refractive index (UHR) lenses improve optical performance, reduce size and weight, and achieve uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image.
Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion (UED) lenses correct chromatic aberration rendering sharp, high-contrast images with clear colors from corner to corner.
MTF Chart Details Optical Performance
For lenses that are capable of compensating distortion, the horizontal axis of the MTF shows the distance from the center of the corrected image.
