13 best panasonic macros
Panasonic macro lenses are a type of camera lens designed for Panasonic mirrorless cameras and other Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera systems. These lenses are specifically crafted for capturing close-up or macro photography, where the subject is magnified to a greater extent than typical lenses allow.
Key features and characteristics of Panasonic macro lenses include:
Macro Capability: Panasonic macro lenses are engineered to provide a high level of magnification, enabling photographers to capture intricate details of small subjects like flowers, insects, and other macro subjects.
Micro Four Thirds Compatibility: These lenses are designed to fit Micro Four Thirds camera systems, which include Panasonic's Lumix series and other MFT cameras.
Close Focusing Distance: Macro lenses typically have a close focusing distance, allowing them to focus on subjects that are very close to the lens element. This is crucial for capturing fine details in macro photography.
High-Quality Optics: Panasonic is known for producing lenses with excellent optical quality, sharpness, and minimal distortion. This ensures that macro shots are crisp and detailed.
Image Stabilization: Some Panasonic macro lenses come equipped with image stabilization technology to minimize the effects of camera shake when shooting handheld, which is especially helpful in macro photography.
Aperture Control: Many macro lenses offer a wide aperture range, allowing for creative control over depth of field. A wide aperture (e.g., f/2.8) can help to isolate the subject from the background, while a smaller aperture (e.g., f/16) can provide greater depth of field for more of the subject to be in focus.
Weather Sealing: Some Panasonic macro lenses are weather-sealed to protect against dust and moisture, making them suitable for outdoor photography in various conditions.
Auto Focus: Panasonic macro lenses typically feature fast and accurate autofocus systems to help photographers quickly and easily capture their subjects.
Lens Compatibility: Panasonic's Micro Four Thirds system provides compatibility with a wide range of lenses, including prime and zoom lenses, giving photographers flexibility in their choice of glass for different situations.
Panasonic offers a variety of macro lenses to cater to the diverse needs of photographers interested in close-up photography. These lenses are well-regarded in the photography community for their performance and build quality, making them a popular choice for those who own Panasonic mirrorless cameras and are interested in macro photography.

From the Manufacturer
The world's first Leica Micro Four Thirds lens, the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm/F2.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S., features exceptional image quality in a compact size.
The Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm/F2.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. (equivalent to 90mm on a 35mm film camera), features outstanding image quality that meets the renowned Leica standard. The new Leica lens uses both an aspherical lens and an ED lens comprised of fourteen lenses arranged in ten groups. This lens takes advantage of the Micro Four Thirds specifications to achieve a dramatic size decrease, while also minimizing distortion and glare. Panasonic's Mega Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) suppresses the blurring that is commonly caused by hand-shake, making it easy to shoot sharply-focused macro shots even in dimly-lit places without the need for a tripod.
The Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm/F2.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens incorporates an inner focus motor system that makes action smooth and silent when capturing still and video content. By flipping a switch on the lens barrel, the minimum focus distance can instantly be changed to 150mm or 500mm (approximately 5.9 inches or 19.7 inches respectively). This lens excels when taking portraits, mid-range snapshots and landscapes, in addition to macro shots.
When mounted on Lumix G Micro System Cameras, the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm/F2.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens allows for use of the advanced contrast Auto Focus (AF) system, which includes Panasonic's Face Recognition functions. It's comprised of seven blades, which produce an attractive and smooth background blur effect when shooting at larger aperture settings. These lenses also feature a highly-reliable metal mount, and use multi-coated lens elements to minimize glare and further enhance optical performance.

Unlike conventional lenses, LUMIX G lenses like this one are small, lightweight and fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. Now you can take professional-looking shots of an athlete – and even capture individual drops of water falling through the air.
SPLASH AND DUSTPROOF
Brave the elements in nearly any kind of weather or shooting location. This lens features a splash/dustproof construction* that is tough enough to withstand even heavy field use. It protects the lens system inside from sand, rain and more, making it perfect for shooting under harsh conditions. Now there is nothing holding you back from capturing the creative nature or landscape shots you want.
*The lens supports this feature in conjunction with splash/dustproof LUMIX cameras.
POWER O.I.S.
Capture scenes carefree or at the spur of the moment. The optical image stabilization (O.I.S.) technology built directly into the lens ensures your photos will look great, with sharp blur-free contours across the entire picture.
Taking highly popular MEGA O.I.S. further, this advanced technology immediately compensates even large camera shake and vibrations that may occur in photography. So you can capture true-to-life scenes without the need for a tripod. In the end, you’ll enjoy wonderfully crisp images.
VIDEO SUPPORT
With video support any user has everything they need for recording with their LUMIX camera. Not only does it perform smooth aperture changes, so there are no sudden jumps in exposure, it also boasts a silent design for enhanced capture of the scene’s audio. What’s more, the stunning AF performance of this lens records excellent 4K video, where precise focusing is essential.
LENS CONSTRUCTION
Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lenses correct chromatic aberration rendering sharp, high-contrast images with clear colors from corner to corner.

User questions & answers
Question: | Panasonic H-HS043K LUMIX G 42.5mm f/1.7 Asph. is it made in Japan |
Answer: | Not as good as a makro lens. I love this lens it stays on my camera 95% of the time. |
Question: | Is there a difference between us and international version? is it ois |
Answer: | Approximately 3 feet, minimum. |
Question: | When I slightly shake this lens it has an obvious rattle. Is this normal or is mind defective |
Answer: | The Canon 75-300 is arguably their worst lens - it is a cheap kit lens that is usually bundled with the 18-55mm lens on their consumer DSLRs - i.e. EOS Rebels and XXXD model units. As has been said already it lacks IS, and is actually designed for a completely different purpose - it is a medium-to-long range tele lens, is slow and had poor optics. The 18-200 is designed as a walk-around lens, i.e. one that you might take when you want only one lens for a variety of purposes, such as traveling. As the review sites indicate, this is an ambitious range as it incorporates moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto all in one set of optics and it comes with compromises - but many of those can be resolved in camera or in post processing with applications such as Photoshop or Lightroom. It DOES boast 4 stops of IS (I would never buy a tele lens without IS). Optically this is a far superior lens to the 75-300. If you are considering a lens purchase you need to ask yourself a few questions: 1. What is your budget? 2. What are you trying to capture? There is a big difference between lenses for shooting indoors, portraits or wildlife. If you are just starting out and are not sure, I would suggest going for the Canon 18-135 IS STM model - it's got much newer tech and optics and is a good walk around unit. 3. What are you going to produce? There is a big difference in the requirements for posting images to social media or multimedia devices compared to producing large, high-resolution prints. 4. What are you prepared to carry? There is no point in getting a large outfit if you leave it at home. 5. Where do you want to take your photography? If your intent is engage in this seriously then consider the best glass you can afford. Camera bodies change almost annually and lose their value quickly, but lenses last far longer. If you have a crop sensor camera, such as a Rebel or the X00D, X0D or the 7D series then you can use either the EF-S lenses (designed specifically for crop sensors) or the EF lenses (designed for full-frame bodies). Among the EF-S lenses the best general purpose lens is the 17-55 IS USM 2.8 lens. It is big but has a large aperture that makes it work well in low lighting conditions. There is no really great APS-C tele zoom, but the Canon EF 70-300 F4-5.6 IS II USM lens is an excellent unit. Top of the line in EF units is the L (Luxury) series of lenses designed for professional work. They are robust, dust and moisture resistant, and have great optics. (The EF-S lenses have excellent glass but because of the design of the crop sensor they can be made more cheaply and they are not weather resistant). When considering the numbers for a lens you should note that the numbers indicating the focal length on a lens (e.g. 18-200mm) indicate the Field of View (what the sensor sees) for a FULL FRAME sensor. Any crop sensor sees less than a FF sensor, so to get an idea of what a crop sensor will see with ANY lens attached to it, you need to multiply the focal lengths and aperture values by the crop factor (1.6). Thus the 18-200 lens will still generate a FoV of 18-200 but what the crop sensor will CAPTURE will be Equivalent to 29-320mm. If you want to understand this principle more see the DPREVIEW article: https://www.dpreview.com/articles/2666934640/what-is-equivalence-and-why-should-i-care |
Question: | Is it worth buying if i already Have the 25mm F |
Answer: | This is a good lens just to be used in trips and you want be light. At night is not a good option. 3.5 at 18 but increase dramatically once the zoom is used. |

Together with a 42.5mm mid-telephoto focal distance (35mm camera equivalent 85mm), this lens is more than ideal for clear, detailed and expressive portraits.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this compatible with the DMC-G6KK |
Answer: | I would not use this lens for sports photography . . .fixed 100mm on a full frame camera (160mm on crop sensor) is very limiting if subjects are much of a distance away and will produce images that will require considerable cropping if you want a close up final image or print. I actually sold this lens because I found I hardly ever used it . . .The best use for this lens is either portraits or macro photography . It excels ay both of these applications. My choice for sports photography is current 70-200 zoom f4 sometimes used with a 1.4 tele-extender . . . Just my $.02 worth |
Question: | Will it work with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF |
Answer: | Make sure you have the switches set correctly. There are 3 switches on the lens, you may have inadvertantly moved them when you switched bodies. The top switch has 3 positions: full, 0.5-infinity and 0.3m - 0.5m. The full position allows the autofocus to seek over the entire range of the lens. The second position locks out macro, allowing it to autofocus on 'normal' subjects faster. The third position does the opposite - it locks it into macro mode so it can autofocus on macro subjects faster. The second switch switches between manual focus and auto focus. The third turns images stabilization on and off. I would test it again on your 60D after making sure all the switches are set correctly. Test it in good light on a subject with high contrast. It may be worthwhile to clean the contacts on your 60D with a pencil eraser. You may also want to check if there is a BIOS update for your 60D. If it still doesn't work, you may need to contact Canon to have your 60D serviced. It's not likely to be a problem with the lens since it works fine on your other body. |
Question: | Is this fit in GF |
Answer: | The T3i is a great camera but a lens really makes all the difference. I use this macro often on a crop frame 7D similar to your T3i and had the opportunity to use it on full frame cameras too. It's fast, quiet, and the IS is fairly new (1 year old) and defiantly worth having especially on a higher focal length of 100mm. I would say this is one of my more popular lenses I enjoy. |
Question: | If you had to choose one panasonic prime lens for your mft camera - would you get this one (25mm) or the 20mm f1.7? main use: portrait, night, street |
Answer: | Yes, the Canon ET-73 clip on plastic hood |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the polarized lens ND and is it any good |
Answer: | Yes, it and all other lenses made for "micro four-thirds" ("MFT", "micro 4/3", etc.) are compatible with all MFT bodies in terms of the bayonette mount, although Panasonic and Olympus have different approaches about what functions to put in their lenses vs. in their bodies instead - so, in general, many Olympus lenses work better on Olympus bodies, and many Panasonic lenses work better on Panasonic bodies (even though they share the same mount and electrical contacts). |
Question: | I have a dmc-gx7k. will this work lens work with my camera? if not, does anyone know the appropriate lens to get (would like 2.8 35-100mm |
Answer: | Yes, I actually used it on my GF5... it does look very disproportionate, but it works the same as on any other m 4/3 camera |
Question: | Will it fit lumix dmc g5k |
Answer: | Is this fit in GF3 |
Question: | Has anyone used this with a gx85? i curious if it's too large to be comfortable with that small of a body |
Answer: | The 20mm focus speed is not terrible. It is a bit loud and not suitable for video. I have both and like both. I find I use the 20mm more often. The Normal Lenses, I never really liked all that much. Just because it is the normal view for an eye doesn't mean it is all that useful. I like 42.5mm for portrait, and one of my most used lenses is the 7-14mm. Back to the 20 mm. You can use it for portrait but it's not as good as the longer lens. My recommendation. Get the 20mm and add another lens later. |

Brave the elements in nearly any kind of weather or shooting location. This lens features a splash / dust / freezeproof construction* that is tough enough to withstand even heavy field use. It protects the lens system inside from sand, rain and more, making it perfect for shooting under harsh conditions. Now there is nothing holding you back from capturing the creative nature or landscape shots you want.
*The lens supports this feature in conjunction with splash/dust/freezeproof LUMIX cameras.
Power O.I.S. Compensates Camera Shake for Crisp Images
4K Video Support for High-Resolution Recording
With video support any user has everything they need for recording with their LUMIX camera. Not only does it perform smooth aperture changes so there are no sudden jumps in exposure, it also boasts a silent design for enhanced capture of the scene’s audio. What’s more, the stunning AF performance of this lens records excellent 4K video, where precise focusing is essential.
Nano Surface Coating Reduces Reflections
Put an end to unwanted ghosting and flaring – the Nano Surface Coating has been applied to lenses within the system. This special, ultra-thin coating was developed originally by Panasonic to reduce bothersome reflections across the entire light spectrum. The result: crystal-clear pictures even if you’re photographing a light source in the dark.
High-Quality Lens Construction for Uniform Image Quality
Aspherical (ASPH) lenses reduce size and weight, effectively preventing spherical and distortion aberration.
Ultra-high refractive index (UHR) lenses improve optical performance, reduce size and weight, and achieve uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image.
Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion (UED) lenses correct chromatic aberration rendering sharp, high-contrast images with clear colors from corner to corner.
MTF Chart Details Optical Performance
For lenses that are capable of compensating distortion, the horizontal axis of the MTF shows the distance from the center of the corrected image.

User questions & answers
Question: | My digital camera has a delay between pushing the shutter button and the photo actually being snapped. What is the response time of this camera |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | does it come with lens cover |
Answer: | If you are vloging no because the screen doesn’t flip back for you to see yourself and if you want good sound no because no audio port but it’s good otherwise |
Question: | Is this camera good in low light situations |
Answer: | It's fine for nature, sunsets and landscapes. It's not good for sports, because it only shoots 3 frames per second doesn't have the best lens for sports. It would do OK for sports outside in full sun, but you might want to get the kit that has the 70-300mm lens. It will do badly at indoor sports events. |
Question: | Can you take close up macro shots with this camera |
Answer: | yes it comes with both |
