10 best fisheye lens for panasonic lumixes

Fisheye lenses are specialized camera lenses that provide an extremely wide-angle view, often creating a distorted, curved effect at the edges of the frame. These lenses are used for creative and artistic photography, and they can be compatible with Panasonic Lumix mirrorless cameras. Here's what you should know about fisheye lenses for Panasonic Lumix cameras:

  1. Compatibility: Fisheye lenses come in various mounts, so it's essential to ensure that the lens you choose is compatible with your specific model of Panasonic Lumix mirrorless camera. Most modern Lumix cameras use Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lens mounts, but some older models may use different mounts.

  2. Ultra-Wide Angle: Fisheye lenses typically offer an ultra-wide-angle field of view, often exceeding 180 degrees. This extreme perspective can create unique and dramatic photos.

  3. Distorted Effect: The hallmark of a fisheye lens is its distortion. Straight lines in the scene appear curved or bent, creating a distinctive and artistic look. This distortion can be used creatively to capture eye-catching images.

  4. Fixed Focal Length: Many fisheye lenses have a fixed focal length, meaning you cannot zoom in or out. This limitation encourages photographers to move closer to their subjects for creative compositions.

  5. Manual and Autofocus: Depending on the specific fisheye lens you choose, it may offer manual focus, autofocus, or both. Some photographers prefer manual focus for precise control over the distortion effect.

  6. Aperture Settings: Fisheye lenses typically have variable aperture settings. A wide aperture (e.g., f/2.8 or f/3.5) allows for low-light shooting and creative depth of field effects, while a smaller aperture (e.g., f/8 or f/11) can increase sharpness and reduce distortion.

  7. Lens Coating: High-quality fisheye lenses often have special coatings to reduce lens flare and ghosting, which can be more challenging to control with such a wide field of view.

  8. Creative Photography: Fisheye lenses are popular among photographers looking to experiment with creative and artistic photography. They are often used for capturing unique perspectives in landscapes, architecture, and even abstract subjects.

  9. Specialized Accessories: Some fisheye lenses may come with specialized accessories like lens hoods, lens caps, and protective cases. These can be important for maintaining the lens's performance and protecting it from damage.

  10. Post-Processing: Keep in mind that while fisheye lenses provide distinct visual effects, you can also adjust and correct the distortion during post-processing using software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.

When considering a fisheye lens for your Panasonic Lumix mirrorless camera, it's important to research and select one that suits your creative vision and the specific model of your camera. Fisheye photography can be a fun and artistic way to explore unique perspectives and create memorable images.

Panasonic

Based on 13 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens (H-F008) is a 35mm camera equivalent 16mm lens, and the world’s smallest and lightest* digital interchangeable fisheye lens compatible with the Lumix G Series, DSL Micro (DSLM) cameras.

Featuring a 180-degree diagonal angle view, the Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens offers a distinctive perspective and unique deformation effect, creating a creative view for both photos and video. Additionally, its compact size can be attributed to its ten lenses in nine groups, which takes advantage of the Micro Four Thirds system standard to achieve dramatic downsizing.

The adoption of an ED (Extra-low dispersion glass) lens achieves a stable, descriptive performance at all distances, to minimize chromatic aberration and distortion. The Lumix G Fisheye 8mm lens has the ability to capture extreme close-ups from far away, due in part to its advanced inner focus system.

The H-F008, Fisheye 8mm lens allows for use of the high-speed and accurate contrast AF system when mounted on the Panasonic Lumix G Series DSLM cameras, for more comfortable and enjoyable shooting. Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. The inclusion of a stepping motor allows for smooth and silent focusing in both photo and movie recording modes.

*For a digital interchangeable fisheye lens as of June 1, 2010.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this lens work on GH
Answer: I don't have any personal experience, but both the camera and the lens are m4/3 mount. So yes it should work. The lens is a high quality fisheye, I'm sure the gh4 will love it.
Question: Can it be used with a front filter
Answer: I use mine mainly underwater under a dome port so I have never put a filter on it. It has a rounded lens and there is a flower petal type hood built onto the lens to protect the lens. That hood does have threads on it but the top and bottom "petal" extend further out than the 2 side "petal" so I could see a screw on filter would not fit flush to the lens- which may mean you will see the rims of the filter in your photo because the fisheye is such a wide angle.
Question: How does one manually set the aperture? There is no aperture ring that I can see
Answer: No ring on the lens. You need to use the dials on the camera or use a mode that automatically sets aperture.
Question: Is this a manual only lens
Answer: It's not a zoom lens. The camera can do the focusing automatically, or you can focus manually.
Question: Does it come with battary and does it have a built in flash
Answer: The Nikon P80 does have a built in flash and did come with a battery when new, but this is a very old camera, discontinued in 2009. You might be better served by a current model.
Question: Can this be used to film videos and does it have a built in microphone
Answer: IT MUST HAVE, ALL VIDEOS MADE BY THIS MODEL HAD SOUND.
Question: Does it have a view finder
Answer: Yes it has a view finder and it also has a screen to view the picture.
Question: Can you change the lens or add a lens to this camera
Answer: No, this camera has fixed zoom lens. It can not be changed out.

Question: I know the lens hood is plastic, but what is the barrel of this lens constructed of, plastic or aluminum
Answer: The barrel of the lens is plastic. The mount is metal.

Prime Lens Advantages

Prime lenses are typically sharper, lighter, and can work in lower lighting conditions than zoom lenses.

Less compromises are involved when a lens can be designed for optimal performance for a specific focal length.

They don't have to overcome all of the additional problems encountered with the extra glass and mechanics required to zoom.

With their typically faster (wider) maximum apertures and fewer lens elements, primes can also gather and pass through more light.

As a result, even in poor lighting conditions, you can generally get better quality images and videos.

Additionally, due to their smaller size and weight, they are perfect for travel, and stealthy street shooting.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this compatible with the DMC-G6KK
Answer: I would not use this lens for sports photography . . .fixed 100mm on a full frame camera (160mm on crop sensor) is very limiting if subjects are much of a distance away and will produce images that will require considerable cropping if you want a close up final image or print. I actually sold this lens because I found I hardly ever used it . . .The best use for this lens is either portraits or macro photography . It excels ay both of these applications. My choice for sports photography is current 70-200 zoom f4 sometimes used with a 1.4 tele-extender . . . Just my $.02 worth
Question: Will it work with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF
Answer: Make sure you have the switches set correctly. There are 3 switches on the lens, you may have inadvertantly moved them when you switched bodies. The top switch has 3 positions: full, 0.5-infinity and 0.3m - 0.5m. The full position allows the autofocus to seek over the entire range of the lens. The second position locks out macro, allowing it to autofocus on 'normal' subjects faster. The third position does the opposite - it locks it into macro mode so it can autofocus on macro subjects faster. The second switch switches between manual focus and auto focus. The third turns images stabilization on and off. I would test it again on your 60D after making sure all the switches are set correctly. Test it in good light on a subject with high contrast. It may be worthwhile to clean the contacts on your 60D with a pencil eraser. You may also want to check if there is a BIOS update for your 60D. If it still doesn't work, you may need to contact Canon to have your 60D serviced. It's not likely to be a problem with the lens since it works fine on your other body.
Question: Is this fit in GF
Answer: The T3i is a great camera but a lens really makes all the difference. I use this macro often on a crop frame 7D similar to your T3i and had the opportunity to use it on full frame cameras too. It's fast, quiet, and the IS is fairly new (1 year old) and defiantly worth having especially on a higher focal length of 100mm. I would say this is one of my more popular lenses I enjoy.
Question: If you had to choose one panasonic prime lens for your mft camera - would you get this one (25mm) or the 20mm f1.7? main use: portrait, night, street
Answer: Yes, the Canon ET-73 clip on plastic hood

User questions & answers

Question: I am concerned that the lens I received was not meant to be sold in the US. It is a pan European version. What exactly does this mean for me
Answer: It likely means you got a "gray market" lens (search on google). Basically it's a legit lens but won't come with USA warranty etc..,
Question: will it fit on a nikon d
Answer: No. This is a micro four thirds mount lens, not a Nikon mount lens.
Question: Would this Lens work well for shooting stills and videos of sports (surfing) from a distance (100-150 meters/yards
Answer: Yes, I think it would be an excellent Lens for this, assuming you have adequate light. At 400mm (800mm @ 35 mm equivalent) it is f6.3 which is 2.33 stops slower than the very expensive f2.8 monsters. I use it to shoot wildlife, both video and stills. I find the lens to be extremely sharp even up close. I would highly recommend it.
Question: Will this work with teleconverter x1.4 m zuiko that is designed by olympus to work with olympus 40-150mm f2.8 pro and olympus 300mm f4 pro lens
Answer: While I can not say for sure, I also think the answer is "No". Out of all of the the Olympus Lenses, this converter will only work on the two Olympus lenses you mention, so it is reasonable to assume that it will not work on a Panasonic lens either. Trust me an 800mm equivalent lens is a lot of telephoto. I don't think you'll need a 1.4 teleconverter.

User questions & answers

Question: Panasonic H-HS043K LUMIX G 42.5mm f/1.7 Asph. is it made in Japan
Answer: Not as good as a makro lens. I love this lens it stays on my camera 95% of the time.
Question: Is there a difference between us and international version? is it ois
Answer: Approximately 3 feet, minimum.
Question: When I slightly shake this lens it has an obvious rattle. Is this normal or is mind defective
Answer: The Canon 75-300 is arguably their worst lens - it is a cheap kit lens that is usually bundled with the 18-55mm lens on their consumer DSLRs - i.e. EOS Rebels and XXXD model units. As has been said already it lacks IS, and is actually designed for a completely different purpose - it is a medium-to-long range tele lens, is slow and had poor optics. The 18-200 is designed as a walk-around lens, i.e. one that you might take when you want only one lens for a variety of purposes, such as traveling. As the review sites indicate, this is an ambitious range as it incorporates moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto all in one set of optics and it comes with compromises - but many of those can be resolved in camera or in post processing with applications such as Photoshop or Lightroom. It DOES boast 4 stops of IS (I would never buy a tele lens without IS). Optically this is a far superior lens to the 75-300. If you are considering a lens purchase you need to ask yourself a few questions: 1. What is your budget? 2. What are you trying to capture? There is a big difference between lenses for shooting indoors, portraits or wildlife. If you are just starting out and are not sure, I would suggest going for the Canon 18-135 IS STM model - it's got much newer tech and optics and is a good walk around unit. 3. What are you going to produce? There is a big difference in the requirements for posting images to social media or multimedia devices compared to producing large, high-resolution prints. 4. What are you prepared to carry? There is no point in getting a large outfit if you leave it at home. 5. Where do you want to take your photography? If your intent is engage in this seriously then consider the best glass you can afford. Camera bodies change almost annually and lose their value quickly, but lenses last far longer. If you have a crop sensor camera, such as a Rebel or the X00D, X0D or the 7D series then you can use either the EF-S lenses (designed specifically for crop sensors) or the EF lenses (designed for full-frame bodies). Among the EF-S lenses the best general purpose lens is the 17-55 IS USM 2.8 lens. It is big but has a large aperture that makes it work well in low lighting conditions. There is no really great APS-C tele zoom, but the Canon EF 70-300 F4-5.6 IS II USM lens is an excellent unit. Top of the line in EF units is the L (Luxury) series of lenses designed for professional work. They are robust, dust and moisture resistant, and have great optics. (The EF-S lenses have excellent glass but because of the design of the crop sensor they can be made more cheaply and they are not weather resistant). When considering the numbers for a lens you should note that the numbers indicating the focal length on a lens (e.g. 18-200mm) indicate the Field of View (what the sensor sees) for a FULL FRAME sensor. Any crop sensor sees less than a FF sensor, so to get an idea of what a crop sensor will see with ANY lens attached to it, you need to multiply the focal lengths and aperture values by the crop factor (1.6). Thus the 18-200 lens will still generate a FoV of 18-200 but what the crop sensor will CAPTURE will be Equivalent to 29-320mm. If you want to understand this principle more see the DPREVIEW article: https://www.dpreview.com/articles/2666934640/what-is-equivalence-and-why-should-i-care
Question: Is it worth buying if i already Have the 25mm F
Answer: This is a good lens just to be used in trips and you want be light. At night is not a good option. 3.5 at 18 but increase dramatically once the zoom is used.

User questions & answers

Question: Can i put this on a panasonic lumix fz

User questions & answers

Question: does this 20 mm lens have stabilization built in, I do not se any mention of that
Answer: Hi,there, in most cases,it works with a ftz adapter.
Question: Why is this newer version of the 20mm less expensive than the older plastic version? Seems like it should be more right
Answer: Yes and no. It will work, but you're better off using a DX lens for DX camera if you're using it as a portrait lens. Search "Nikon DX portrait lens) and those lenses typically cost significantly less. In other words, since the D3200 is a crop camera (DX and no FX) and this lens is for full frame, you wont get the same focal length. you will have to make adjustments on the camera for any full frame. I would say it makes to invest in this lens only if you plan to upgrade to full frame camera or at least use one some time in the future. The only focal length that works the same on both DX and FX is 50mm. Hope that helps.
Question: will this fit on Lumix DMC-G
Answer: This lens will absolutely work on the Nikon D5000
Question: I am a novice but since the mm is smaller would this be a wide lens compared to the default lens that came w my g
Answer: I believe so. It’s the noisiest lens I ever used, ever noisier than an old school budget zoom 2.8 from Tameron without VR. The robo noises can be heard frik far away. I have no complaints about the picture quality for the price range though. Just not the best option for fast action or anything where you need to be quiet. Great for budget equipment and beautiful portraits though. I’m pleased to use it instead of any 2.8 zoom lens or any wider fixed lenses.

User questions & answers

Question: is the polarized lens ND and is it any good
Answer: Yes, it and all other lenses made for "micro four-thirds" ("MFT", "micro 4/3", etc.) are compatible with all MFT bodies in terms of the bayonette mount, although Panasonic and Olympus have different approaches about what functions to put in their lenses vs. in their bodies instead - so, in general, many Olympus lenses work better on Olympus bodies, and many Panasonic lenses work better on Panasonic bodies (even though they share the same mount and electrical contacts).
Question: I have a dmc-gx7k. will this work lens work with my camera? if not, does anyone know the appropriate lens to get (would like 2.8 35-100mm
Answer: Yes, I actually used it on my GF5... it does look very disproportionate, but it works the same as on any other m 4/3 camera
Question: Will it fit lumix dmc g5k
Answer: Is this fit in GF3
Question: Has anyone used this with a gx85? i curious if it's too large to be comfortable with that small of a body
Answer: The 20mm focus speed is not terrible. It is a bit loud and not suitable for video. I have both and like both. I find I use the 20mm more often. The Normal Lenses, I never really liked all that much. Just because it is the normal view for an eye doesn't mean it is all that useful. I like 42.5mm for portrait, and one of my most used lenses is the 7-14mm. Back to the 20 mm. You can use it for portrait but it's not as good as the longer lens. My recommendation. Get the 20mm and add another lens later.

The result: crystal-clear pictures even if you’re photographing a light source in the dark.

High-Quality Lens Construction for Uniform Image Quality

Aspherical (ASPH) lenses reduce size and weight, effectively preventing spherical and distortion aberration.

Ultra-high refractive index (UHR) lenses improve optical performance, reduce size and weight, and achieve uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image.

Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion (UED) lenses correct chromatic aberration rendering sharp, high-contrast images with clear colors from corner to corner.

MTF Chart Details Optical Performance

For lenses that are capable of compensating distortion, the horizontal axis of the MTF shows the distance from the center of the corrected image.
