Answer:	Yes, The d7100 has a built in focusing motor. If you use a one of the D5000 series or D3000 series as a back up you will need to learn how to use the rangefinder manual focus option. Which isn't bad is fading light, but under true low light conditions is very clumsy. You also can't use the range finder on full manual for some reason. Which is a pain because I bought mine for studio work.

Answer:	you could certainly use both. The viewfinder would be a bit far so you might have to reach forward a bit and of course live view is fine.
