3 best flash for canons
"Flash for Canons" typically refers to external shoe mount flashes that are compatible with Canon digital cameras. These external flashes are essential accessories for photographers who want to enhance their photography by providing additional light in various shooting conditions. Here's what you need to know about them:
Shoe Mount Flash: A shoe mount flash is an external flash unit that can be attached to the hot shoe on top of a Canon digital camera. The hot shoe is a standardized mounting point found on most Canon DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.
Compatibility: When shopping for a flash for Canon cameras, it's crucial to ensure that the flash is compatible with your specific Canon camera model. Canon-compatible flashes are designed to work seamlessly with Canon cameras, providing features like TTL (Through-The-Lens) metering for accurate exposure.
Power and Versatility: External flashes for Canon cameras come in various power ratings and offer adjustable settings for flash output. They can be used to provide additional light in low-light situations, add fill light to portraits, and create more balanced lighting in various shooting scenarios.
Modes: Canon-compatible flashes often offer different modes, including TTL mode, Manual mode, and sometimes even high-speed sync (HSS) mode. TTL mode allows the flash to automatically adjust its output based on the camera's metering, while Manual mode gives the photographer full control over the flash power.
Bounce and Swivel: Many external flashes for Canon have adjustable heads that can be tilted and swiveled to bounce the flash off ceilings or walls, creating softer and more diffused lighting. This technique is especially useful for portrait and indoor photography.
Wireless Flash: Some Canon-compatible flashes can act as master or slave units in a wireless flash setup. This allows for creative off-camera flash techniques, such as using multiple flashes to illuminate a scene from different angles.
Accessories: Many flash units come with accessories like diffusers, color gels, and reflectors to modify the quality and color of the light produced.
Power Source: External flashes are typically powered by AA batteries or rechargeable battery packs. The choice of power source can affect the recycle time (the time it takes for the flash to recharge after firing) and the number of flashes you can take on a single set of batteries.
Price Range: The cost of Canon-compatible external flashes can vary widely based on factors like brand, features, and power. Entry-level models are more affordable, while professional-grade flashes with advanced features tend to be more expensive.
When choosing a flash for your Canon camera, consider your specific photography needs, budget, and whether you require advanced features like wireless capabilities or high-speed sync. It's also essential to ensure compatibility with your Canon camera model for seamless integration and optimal performance.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a way to power this via a DC wall adtpater instead of batteries |
Answer: | There is a side plug for power but the power cord is not included. |
Question: | Will this work on a Canon T6i |
Answer: | Yes. It doesn't work with some T7 because some early T7 didn't have the center pin in the hotshoe. T6 and newer T7 with the center pin will work |
Question: | Why does it turn my pictures white on my sony a |
Answer: | The Sony A7 has an advertised flash sync speed of 1/250 of a second. I don't own one but I've seen posts suggesting that some folks struggle to get it above 1/60th of a second. So when you use your flash, your camera may be forcing the shutter speed down to the maximum flash sync speed (1/250th or 1/60th of a second) WITHOUT OTHERWISE ADJUSTING YOUR EXPOSURE. So, say you're shooting outside on an overcast day and you want to use a fill flash. Without a flash maybe you'd be shooting at 1/1000th of a second or faster. With the flash you'd expect to shoot FASTER but, because of the slower flash sync, you're shooting slower. That slower speed means more light and that gives you a white image. To compensate, either use a filter to dim the entire scene or look into a camera with a faster flash sync speed. Unfortunately, faster is more expensive. |
Question: | Can this flash be fired by the Canon 60D internal flash control off camera |
Answer: | Yes. The 60D uses the Canon E-TTL flash system which fires a pre-flash to test exposure. You can set the TT560 to ignore this pre-flash. You won't get flash metering control via the camera, but it can trigger these flashes off camera. However, my own testing shows this flash only outputs 40% of the claimed power, so be aware of that issue as well. |
