9 best camera flashes
I'd be happy to provide information about camera flashes, specifically shoe mount flashes.
A shoe mount flash is a type of external flash unit that is designed to be attached to the "shoe" or hot shoe mount on top of a camera. This allows the flash to be directly connected to the camera's electronic system, enabling it to work in sync with the camera's exposure settings and automatically fire when needed.
Here are some key points about shoe mount flashes:
Basic Functionality: Shoe mount flashes are used to provide additional light in low-light situations or to enhance the lighting in well-lit environments. They are particularly useful in indoor, nighttime, or low-light outdoor photography.
Syncing with Camera: When a shoe mount flash is attached to a camera's hot shoe, it communicates with the camera's exposure system. This allows for automatic adjustments of flash intensity, duration, and timing.
TTL vs Manual Mode: Shoe mount flashes typically offer two modes of operation: TTL (Through The Lens) and manual. TTL mode allows the flash to communicate with the camera's light metering system to automatically determine the correct flash output. In manual mode, the photographer manually sets the flash output power.
Bounce and Swivel: Many shoe mount flashes have the capability to tilt and swivel. This allows the photographer to bounce the flash off walls or ceilings to create a softer, more natural-looking light.
Zoom Functionality: Some advanced shoe mount flashes have a zoom feature. This allows the flash head to adjust its coverage angle to match the focal length of the lens, ensuring an even illumination across the frame.
Power Source: Shoe mount flashes are powered by either disposable batteries (typically AA or AAA) or rechargeable battery packs. Some high-end models may also support external power sources.
Accessories and Modifiers: There is a wide range of accessories and modifiers available for shoe mount flashes. These include diffusers, softboxes, colored gels, and snoots, which can be used to modify and control the quality of light produced by the flash.
Wireless Flash Triggering: Many shoe mount flashes support wireless triggering. This allows them to be used off-camera, giving photographers more flexibility in positioning the flash for creative lighting effects.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that a shoe mount flash is compatible with your specific camera model. While many flashes are designed to work with a range of cameras, there can be compatibility issues with certain models.
Remember, mastering the use of a shoe mount flash involves practice and experimentation.Understanding how to balance ambient light with flash, controlling flash power, and using modifiers effectively are all key aspects of becoming proficient with this type of equipment.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this made in china |
Answer: | Yes, it is...Made in China. |
Question: | Does this work on a Nikon D850 camera |
Answer: | No. It works with Canon equipment only. Nikon has their own Speedlites. |
Question: | Can I shoot continuously? What is the recycle time |
Answer: | Speed shooting wasn't a feature that I was looking for when I bought this, but I have tested it in single shot and high speed modes. My testing was done using "Default" settings, both camera and flash with Panasonic BK-3MCCA4BA Eneloop AA 2100 Cycle Ni-MH batteries. In single shot mode, the flash fired as quick as I could press the shutter button, I'm guessing less than 1/2 second between shots. In high speed (6fps), it drops the ninth frame just about every time, but picks up where it left off and it's just a one dark frame, i.e., no pause to recycle before it flashes again. I'm not sure how long it would keep this up. I stopped after 20 seconds or so. Reducing the power, to say 1/4, or using an external battery pack or power supply would probably help, but depending on your shooting conditions, that isn't always an option. I used an EOS 5D mark IV & EF 50mm f/1.8 lens with the flash zoom range set to 50mm. Canons specs vary too much for me and probably include an average recycle time of every scenario they could throw at it. I mean 0.3 - 5.5 seconds on high and 0.1 - 3.3 seconds on low? To me, that is too wide a range to get any real world info from. |
Question: | Do this flash work with a Canon 80D |
Answer: | Yes. The 600EX II-RT is the best flash canon makes. You'll never outgrow it. It has more capabilities than any of the other Canon flashes. Also, buy the canon remote for off-camera flash. You'll notice the difference. |

Answer: | I'm not sure but I do know they work on a t6 and the t3i so it may work. |
Question: | Does this version have an assist beam |
Answer: | It is radio...and it is not TTL. All it does is fire the flash. It does not communicate any other details except a flash fire signal. |
Question: | Does the flash and trigger support canon e-ttl. I know the flash does, but will it support it off the camera remotely using the flash with receiver |

Question: | Would it work with canon 70d |
Answer: | Yes, it works with my T5 as either a flash trigger or a camera trigger, there are instructions included to use it both ways. But this will NOT do TTL. |

Question: | Is this flash compatible with the Canon EOS Rebel SL |
Answer: | I'm assuming its compatible with all canon dslrs. |
Question: | Thinking of using this as a backlight strobe slaved off a t4i. Will it have sufficient juice and recharge time for something like a headstshot shoot |
Answer: | I have both this flash and the 430EX, and I personally would not use this one for portraits unless I had no other option. It kind of depends on how you plan to use it? If you don't mind waiting or watching to make sure it is charged, then it would work fine. When I have done interior portraits I used a simple studio strobe setup and have used my 430EX in concert with these and it worked well, Recharge times on strobes are really pretty quick in comparison to either of these flashes, but the 430EX was fast enough for me. However, I have used my 270 EXII as a fill flash for outdoor portraits, and I was not satisfied. When I take portraits I like to try and capture the moment when a smile is good or when the look in the eye is just right or whatever and sometimes that requires taking the photos in quick succession. I had not been bothered or noticed any lag with the 270EXII prior to this so, when I recently wanted to get some outdoor portraits of my kids, I chose to bring it instead of the 430EX. I felt this was one of two mistakes I made that day. My second mistake was to not use fresh batteries and I found it very frustrating. Luckily I had new batteries, and I popped them in. This helped a lot, but I still found that when I used the 270EXII, I had to wait more than I would have liked, and I feel that I missed some shots and made everyone more frustrated because it took longer. I had several photos where I took the shot, but the flash was not recharged enough and did not fire (even with the new batteries). This was a learning experience for me and I will be bringing my 430EX in the future for this type of shooting. Always also have one or two sets of spare batteries as well.As for your question of having enough juice for a backlight strobe, I guess that would depend on your lighting scenario. I suspect that it would be fine for a highlight type of backlight. My 430EX definitely worked well in that scenario, but I have never tried the 270EXII. I am not as sure how well it would work for a backlight on the background. I have used the 430EX for that successfully, but seem to remember that it did not work as well as when I used the studio strobes (although I think some of that may have been more the light spread than the power). The 270EXII is even less configurable and powerful, so I would not do it unless I had no other option. if you are trying to decide on this or something like the 430, I would spend the extra money on the 430. If that is not an option and you want this flash for other reasons, than I suppose it would not hurt to try it as long as you understand the potential pitfalls.I hope this helps. |

The Flashpoint TTL Off Camera Flash Cord for Nikon provides the easiest solution for creative photographers who want to add dimension, drama and modeling to their ordinary flat lighting usually obtained from hotshoe mounted Nikon Speedlites. By placing the flash off the camera hot shoe and onto a bracket, cage or stand, a photographer can break free of the static style forced by the nature of on axis lighting. This cable works as a full-function communication cord, relaying data between the camera and dedicated flash. The TTL cable flip locks firmly onto the camera hotshoe securely establishing contact to all the data points, which are transmitted via the durable 3 foot coiled cable. The end acts as an extended foot for the speedlight, and attaches to any stand, tripod, umbrella bracket, or other device with a standard 1/4"-20 screw or flash shoe mount. The extra length of the cable gives great flexibility when used on a bracket with a rotating or flip arm.
- Flashpoint 2 Year Warranty
- Extends the TTL hot shoe with Nikon SLR/DSLR cameras for brackets and stands
- Compatible with Nikon SLR/DSLR cameras with a TTL hot shoe and Nikon Dedicated Speedlights by many manufacturers.
- 3.0' /1m Tough Extendable Coiled Cord
