Question: is there a book on the operation of this camera other than the one that comes with it
Answer: A search on Amazon gives Photographer's Guide to the Panasonic ZS100/TZ100Jun 4, 2016by Alexander White in both paper and Kindle editions. I haven't read this book, so can't comment on its quality; but White's book on the FZ1000 is useful.I hope this helps.
Question: Looking for recommendations on buying a charger and spare batteries...recommended brand
Answer: Wasabi. Have purchased their batteries and chargers for several different cameras and have been very happy with them. :)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NJCFRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Question: I am considering selling my sony rx100m3 and buying a panasonic zs100. is this a mistake and does anybody have any problems with their zs
Answer: I Love the Camera and functions when it works. I did get the 3 year warranty and had to replace it after about 13 months. Last month the camera stopped again with a focus issue, I sent it in for warranty service again and this time was told the camera would not be fixed because it was damaged. The ring had a slight spot where it was hit about 6 month ago but no more than wear and tear. Panasonic declined to honor their Warranty, so if you use a camera a lot and put it in your pocket I would not recommend a Panasonic camera.

Answer: The various trade laws apparently allows Leica to call it "Made in Germany" but it is likely made with components sourced from around the world: some of its components may be made in Leica's production facility in Portugal, with electronics from China, sensor from Japan or the US, of aluminum originally mined in Australia. The bottom line is this: who cares? With the global supply chain, such a label is arbitrary and largely meaningless.
Question: panasonic
Answer: Yes
Question: How do you turn off the square format? I have no idea how it got turned on, and I have gone through every single menu option ten times. Help
Answer: It has options of one point, various points, or frame.
Question: Can the camera change the lens by myself
Answer: It sure does, and quite a nice system. You control it by clicking a small, recessed button to the right of the eyepiece, which causes it to raise above the camera’s rear surface. Rotate this control to the right setting for your eye, then click it down into its recessed position again.
Question: Where is this LQ2 made? Thank you
Answer: i have't used the Lumix D so I don't know if there's any difference. If you read Leica's website, they seem to indicate that add their software tweaks to the camera plus a strong Leica warranty. In Auto mode, my pictures have been stunning. I hope this helps?
Question: Is Leica the seller
Answer: Hello Yang,Leica provides a key code for Lightroom after the product is registered on their website. Photoshop CS and/or Elements is not included. They also extend the warranty on the camera another year, for a total of three years after registration. Regards,RoozbehOC camera949-347-1276
Question: Does it have a point or frame in which it follows focus
Answer: Hello John,This camera does have optical stabilization. Regards,RoozbehOC camera
Question: does this camera have diopter adjustment for eyes
Answer: The camera came with a wrist strap, but Leica software.

User questions & answers

Question: What is included in the box
Answer: Domke makes a large array of bags that are good. And they are tough.
Question: Does it come with warranty
Answer: While I agree with anothers opinion regarding the image sensor, the best image sensor is garbage if it is looking through an inferior lens. Unless Panasonic is using a Leica, Ziess, or Schneider lense, the argument is over. These three company's have made the worlds best lenses since the 1940's and still do. (pro photographer 30+years, former camera repair tech.)
Question: How is the quality of the electronic viewfinder and is there lag
Answer: I think the square format is the default format. I'm not sure that you can turn it off, apart from using the wide format. Near the ring where the lens attaches to the body, is a lever you can use to change from square to rectangle format. Unfortunately, that also reduces the number of pics for a given chip. Hope this helps.
Question: Is the lens interchangeable
Answer: This camera has a non-interchangeable zoom lens with 24mm-90mm equivalence. It is an excellent camera.

Product features

Leica Q (TYP 116)

Video recording format MP4.

Sound recording format AAC.

Microphone Stereo.

Reactive

The integrated viewfinder of the Leica Q is activated as soon as the camera is brought up to the eye. It faithfully displays the camera’s image at any time, right down to the smallest detail and without any perceptible delay. With its resolution of 3.68 MP, it surpasses all other electronic viewfinders. The autofocus is also outstanding, capturing with ultimate sharpness at maximum speed. The new Maestro II series processor works extremely rapidly and allows a serial image speed of up to 10 frames per second at full resolution. And of course, the images are instantly available as a JPEG in playback mode.

Intuitive

Intuitive, ergonomic, pragmatic. The controls of the Leica Q provide quick access to all relevant options and opportunities. For example, auto-focus can be set either using buttons or via the touch screen. Prefer to focus manually? Then let the innovative Live View aids “Focus-Peaking” and “Live View Zoom” assist you. Easy to use, the Leica Q helps you implement your ideas perfectly - at the press of a button.

Networked

The built-in Wi-Fi module on the Leica Q makes it easy to share your pictures and videos on social networks. Images can be downloaded to your smartphone, tablet or computer via WLAN and the complimentary Leica Q app. The app also allows the Leica Q to be operated remotely. For example, set the time and aperture on your device and use it as a remote-control release. In this way, blur-free long exposures and recordings are possible from unusual angles – and also as moving images. What’s more, you can record video in Full-HD and web-friendly MP4.

Reliable

The Leica maxim 'focusing on the essentials' also applies to the Leica Q’s exterior design. Made in Germany, the high quality materials and outstanding craftmanship guarantee maximum durability. The top cover is milled from a solid aluminium block, while the housing is finished in magnesium and all labels and markings on the adjustment wheels are laser engraved. The thumb rest on the back of the camera and the diamond pattern of the exterior finish make the Leica Q beautifully easy to grip.

Focus on DNG

Firmware update 2.0 now makes it possible to shoot DNG RAW files separately, rather than in combination with JPG files. The benefits for you: save space on your memory card and you no longer need to delete unwanted JPG files. JPG mode and the combined JPG-DNG mode are still available for whenever you need them.

More creative freedom

The 1-field autofocus metering area can now be selected in three different sizes: small, medium and large. However, AF point movement in digital zoom mode for focal lengths of 35 and 50 mm has now been limited, to avoid focusing on objects outside the zoom range. The Face Detection function has also been optimized: as soon as a face is detected, AF now automatically reverts to multi-field autofocus mode.

Improved user-friendliness

Simplified navigation makes it possible to shoot even faster. That is the reason for the optimization of the camera’s EVF mode: pressing the menu or play button now allows the photographer to switch straight to menu control or picture review on the LCD screen.

Compact Camera

From the Manufacturer

From the Manufacturer

The compact nature of the D-Lux 4 means it can be with you all the time. But despite its compact size, it offers top Leica quality and gives the photographer plenty of artistic freedom. The D-Lux 4 is ideal, whether for subjects composed with lots of forethought or for spontaneous reportage.

The high-aperture professional lens

Leica D-Lux 4 digital camera highlights
The Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens 1:2.0-2.8/5.1-12.8 ASPH is a high-aperture lens for digital compact cameras that allows the real enthusiast to work with an open shutter. Its high speed makes the Leica D-LUX 4 ideal for available light exposures. Whether in poor light or for selective use of field depth, the lens of the Leica D-LUX 4 gives the photographer scope for highly individual picture composition. The aspherical zoom lens with a focusing range of 24-60 mm opens up new creative options in reportage photography.

The lens design consists of eight elements, of which four are aspherical. These are matched individually to the camera sensor, working in harmony with the electronics and software, to produce stunningly brilliant pictures in true-to-life colors.

Powerful sensor

At a standard resolution of 10.1 megapixels, the overlarge size of the 1/1.63" CCD image sensor increases image quality distinctly. The smallest details of the subject are reproduced exactly. The D-Lux 4 can take photos in all three formats (4:3/3:2/16:9) to suit the particular recording or playback situation. On the 3" LCD monitor with a resolution of 460,000 pixels, pictures can be viewed and assessed in excellent quality before and after they are taken. Leica Camera AG has developed its own unique colour matching, contrast and picture definition profile which produces digital characteristics complimentary to Leica M film photography.

More creative possibilities

The ergonomic layout of controls and intuitive operating system make it a pleasure to handle the D-Lux 4. Focus, shutter speed, stops and exposure override can all be set manually with the joystick giving the real enthusiast scope for highly individual picture composition. Of course you can also use the intelligent automatic mode: Depending on the subject and photographic situation, the camera automatically selects the best mode from Scene Select, either macro, landscape, portrait, night portrait, or night scene. The professional software Capture One 4 (RAW data converter) makes sure that the RAW data supplied by the CCD sensor is "processed" in optimum quality. Data recording can be in Fine, Standard, RAW or combinations. The D-Lux 4 is also prepared for photos in HDTV format with a HD port for TV connection.

Expandable, just like a small system camera

Leica D-Lux 4 digital camera highlights
D-Lux 4 with optional viewfinder
The D-Lux 4 is a real Leica, not just in its design, its looks, and its performance, but also its being the first digital compact camera that can be used with an extensive range of accessories - just like a system camera. That means even more photographic possibilities with the camera that can claim to be "son of M8".

User questions & answers

Question: Can this camera with what it comes with be charged in the United States or does it require a power adaper
Answer: In 4K mode the camera is limited to 15 minute segments. In 4K mode, when 15 min is reached it stops recording, however when it stops you can immediately hit the record button and it starts another 15 minute recording cycle. You can repeat this over and over until the battery goes dead or the memory card fills up. The good news is overheating does not seem to be an issue with this camera. There is no input jack for an external mic... but the built-in mike does great when recording at ranges closer to the camera. When recording indoors if you go beyond 5 feet or so you have to be aware of the rooms acoustics.
Question: Does this camera have the functions that allow for instance "soft focus
Answer: Yes. It makes good videos on live shows like rock and pop concerts. Very good sound quality. Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pr3HfJT66E
Question: Why is my Leica D LUX 4 not seeing the 8 gb sdhc card? The manual says that it accepts sdhc formatted fat
Answer: Because LX 7 and RX100 are the top two smaller camera on the market disregard the price difference. LX7 has bigger lens, better night photo. Sony has bigger sensor...
Question: The camera in your listing is a 35mm M model and not what is advertised. Please update your listing
Answer: Huge, actually. The lx10 has 1" sensor, much larger than the lx7 and much higher resolution, 20 megapixels vs. 10. In addition, the lx10 has most all of Panasonic's many other innovations that have come to market in other cameras since the lx7, including 4K video, depth from defocus to aid focus speed and accuracy, etc. The lx10 is thoroughly modern, while the lx7 reflects a much earlier state of the art, circa 2012. Honestly it is very irritating that Amazon bundles the reviews for the two models, they should absolutely be reviewed separately. Hope this helps.

User questions & answers

Question: does this camera have image stabilization
Answer: Yes, it can be be charged in the US. I live in the united states, and purchased it here. The charger is compatible with standard outlets. Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding the camera.
Question: What are the dimensions
Answer: Can’t remember all the settings, there are many many and I haven’t used my camera in about a year. My phone takes great pictures and I haven’t felt the need for better quality photos in a long time.
Question: Is this camera body only or including lens
Answer: Sorry. After owning several years I've not had that problem with any sdhc card in my D LUX 4.
Question: which lenses should I buy for this camera at the same time while purchasing this camera
Answer: Hi, totally agree. The seller, "Leica", has listed a vintage 35mm camera as a D-Lux 4 digital camera. Total misrepresentation. There are number of sellers including myself selling legit D-Lux 4s but you don't see them until you pull up the other listings. I sent a complaint to Amazon but action. "Leica" needs to delete his or her listing immediately so the proper camera is shown. Barlo Books.
