14 best slr digital camera

A Single Lens Reflex (SLR) digital camera, often referred to as a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera, is a type of digital camera that combines the features of traditional single-lens reflex cameras with digital imaging technology. Here's what you should know about SLR digital cameras:

  1. Interchangeable Lenses: DSLR cameras are known for their ability to use interchangeable lenses. This means you can change the lens to suit different photography styles, from wide-angle to telephoto, macro to portrait, providing flexibility in capturing various types of images.

  2. Optical Viewfinder: DSLR cameras typically feature an optical viewfinder that allows you to compose your shots through the camera's lens. This optical viewfinder provides a clear and real-time view of the scene you're photographing, which can be particularly useful in bright sunlight.

  3. Large Image Sensors: DSLRs are equipped with larger image sensors compared to compact digital cameras and smartphones. This larger sensor size allows for better image quality, especially in low-light conditions, and provides greater control over depth of field.

  4. Manual Controls: DSLR cameras offer extensive manual controls over settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance. This level of control is favored by professional photographers and enthusiasts who want to fine-tune their shots.

  5. High Image Quality: Due to their larger sensors and ability to use high-quality lenses, DSLR cameras are capable of producing high-resolution, sharp, and detailed images with rich colors.

  6. Fast Autofocus: DSLRs are known for their fast and accurate autofocus systems, making them suitable for capturing fast-moving subjects, such as in sports and wildlife photography.

  7. Burst Mode: Many DSLRs feature a burst mode, which allows you to capture a series of images in quick succession. This is valuable for action photography and ensuring you don't miss a critical moment.

  8. Accessories: DSLRs are compatible with a wide range of accessories, including external flashes, filters, and tripods, allowing photographers to expand their creative possibilities.

  9. Video Recording: While DSLRs are primarily designed for still photography, many models offer video recording capabilities. Some DSLRs are known for their excellent video quality and are used for videography.

  10. Size and Weight: DSLR cameras are generally larger and heavier than compact digital cameras or mirrorless cameras. This can be both an advantage (better ergonomics, stability) and a disadvantage (portability) depending on your needs.

DSLR cameras have been a popular choice among photographers for years due to their versatility, image quality, and control. However, in recent years, mirrorless cameras have gained popularity for their compact size and advanced features. Still, DSLRs continue to be a preferred choice for many photographers, particularly professionals and those with a collection of compatible lenses.

User questions & answers

Question: My digital camera has a delay between pushing the shutter button and the photo actually being snapped. What is the response time of this camera
Answer: Yes
Question: does it come with lens cover
Answer: If you are vloging no because the screen doesn’t flip back for you to see yourself and if you want good sound no because no audio port but it’s good otherwise
Question: Is this camera good in low light situations
Answer: It's fine for nature, sunsets and landscapes. It's not good for sports, because it only shoots 3 frames per second doesn't have the best lens for sports. It would do OK for sports outside in full sun, but you might want to get the kit that has the 70-300mm lens. It will do badly at indoor sports events.
Question: Can you take close up macro shots with this camera
Answer: yes it comes with both

Question: How long is the queue of backorders on Nov 21-- what is the estimated wait time and/or now shipping camera to those who ordered how long ago
Answer: Can’t see why it won’t it’s the same puck that just about every other one use
Question: when wil D850 be available
Answer: What I've noticed with GPS connection is that parking garages block the signals. The vehicle/devices need a clean connection to the satellites.
Question: Is this the US model
Answer: It looks as though it will work on any Dashcam with the 3.5 mm GPS labeled jack on it. :)
Question: Does anyone have experience with this camera and the 28-300 Nikkor lens
Answer: After I connect the Aukey dash cam with the GPS plug in, the date and time in the video was incorrect in the first day. But starting the second day, the date and time on my LCD screen as well as the video were correct. Date and time are supposed to be automatically adjusted when you have the GPS plugged in. I had sent an email to Aukey customer service when I had the issues on day one and according to Aukey customer service, date and time should automatically adjust with the GPS plugged in. My unit has accurate date and time now.

D850: Extreme Resolution Meets Extreme Speed

When Nikon introduced the D800 and D800E, it set a new benchmark for DSLR image quality and super high resolution photography that approached medium format. Now, five years later, Nikon proudly introduces the next evolution in high resolution DSLRs, a camera that allows photographers to capture fast action in 45.7 megapixels of brilliant resolution. With remarkable advancements across the board—sensor design, autofocus, dynamic range, sensitivity, Speedlight control, battery life, shutter and mirror drive mechanisms, Silent Photography in Live-View mode, focus shift capability and more—this is quite possibly the most impressive, well-rounded DSLR yet.

Nikon's First Back-side Illuminated (BSI) Full-Frame Sensor

At the heart of the D850 is a Nikon designed sensor like none before it—a back-side illuminated (BSI) FX-format full-frame CMOS image sensor with 45.7 megapixels and no optical low-pass filter. A marvel of ingenuity, it achieves extraordinary image quality, enhanced light gathering efficiency, faster data readout and truer color. And with such a dense array of pixels, there's virtually no risk of moire.

Faster, Richer, Sharper Processing

Faster than EXPEED 4, EXPEED 5 quickly processes all 45.7 megapixels of data for lower noise, wider dynamic range, subtle tonal and textural details, high-speed continuous shooting at approx. 9 fps1 and full-frame 4K UHD movie recording.

Sensitive to Every Little Detail

The lower the ISO, the greater the dynamic range. Like the D810 before it, the D850 has the lowest base ISO of any DSLR or mirrorless camera2—ISO 64 (expandable down to ISO 32).

Do Not Disturb

When silence is golden—shooting golf, press conferences, weddings and more—turn on Silent Photography in Live View and capture without sound or mechanical vibration. In Mode 1, shoot for up to 6 FPS continuous at 45.7 MP. In Mode 2, shoot approx. 8.6-megapixel pictures in DX image area at approx. 30 FPS for up to 3 seconds.

Tilt and Touch

The tilting touchscreen LCD screen makes it easy to get the shot, even from high or low angles. Use Touch AF, Touch Shutter control and navigate menus, playback and more as if you were using a smartphone. Zoom in during Live View shooting and use the new Pinpoint AF to put focus right where you want it.

Autofocus that Keeps Up

The D850 uses the same field-proven ultra-accurate AF system as the flagship D5. With 153 focus points, 99 cross-type sensors and a dedicated AF processor, the D850 delivers all of its 45.7 MP performance with NIKKOR lenses. Shoot in low light to -4 EV. Capturing the most elusive subjects will feel like second nature with the D850.

Focus in Near Darkness

Autofocus down to -4 EV lets you capture in low-light situations. Suddenly, fast NIKKOR primes and zooms can handle even lower light than before.

Locked-on Subject Tracking

Nikon's exclusive AF engine uses parallel processing with a sequence control microcomputer to realize high AF performance for fast-moving subjects even during high-speed shooting.

Keeps up with the Action

With up to 7 FPS at 45.7 MP, the D850 can capture the decisive frame of a bride walking down the aisle or a fashion model's fluid pose. For nailing the shot at a high-speed race or of A-listers on the red carpet, try using the optional MB-D18 battery pack and shoot full resolution up to 9 FPS.

A Multimedia Powerhouse

Multimedia content creators rejoice. You are now free to record 16:9 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) in full frame glory using the total width and resolution of the D850's back-side illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor. Take advantage of the large sensor size for clean output at high ISO and for shooting with zero crop factor with any full-frame NIKKOR lenses4, including wide and ultra-wide angle lenses.

Quickly Confirm Focus

Confirm your manual focus with Focus Peaking. Select high, medium or low sensitivity and red, yellow, blue or white highlights. Operates in manual focus mode with AF or compatible manual NIKKOR lenses.

Light it Up

When combined with the optional WR-A10/R10 transceiver (requires firmware version 3.0 or later), the D850 can control and wirelessly fire radio controlled SB-5000 Speedlights from another room, around corners or outdoors in bright sunlight.

4K Time-Lapse in Camera

Create entire 4K UHD time-lapse sequences right in the camera—an exclusive to Nikon DSLRs. Use Silent Live View Mode to bypass the mechanical shutter and mirror movement, saving thousands of shutter cycles and improving the D850's already outstanding battery performance.

8K Time-Lapse Using Interval Timer

Render jaw-dropping 8K time-lapse movies by shooting sequences of up to 9,999 full-size stills, again using Silent Live View Mode. Using the D850's Interval Timer Mode allows you to capture over 8K-size images with exquisite detail for time-lapse movie6 creation. And with no shutter vibration, your sequences will be tack-sharp.

Your Images. The World. Connected.

Transfer your images to a compatible smartphone or tablet instantly using Nikon's SnapBridge app. The app maintains a constant connection with the D850 via Bluetooth Low Energy for seamless transfers, sharing your favorite shots and even controlling the D850 for remote shooting.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this a US version with a Sony warranty or an international version with a seller warranty
Answer: My camera came with a Canon warranty an instructions to register with Canon. I'm not sure why you are asking about Sony..
Question: Does this come with the battery grip with the extra 2 batteries
Answer: It does not. Also of note, the grip is the same as the one used for the 70D and 80D, so if you have one of those it will work. It it worth mentioning that the grip does not have a joystick on it. This is due to the fact that it was made for the 70D originally, which did not have a joystick. If you would like more info about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the lens, and also has suggestions/comparison with other cameras too. There are also sample images taken with the camera. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1K36NNGFV9ZCU?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp
Question: Can it use the 'old' cr2 format or is it cr3 only
Answer: CR2 was replaced by the superior CR3. You will need up to date software to edit RAW files. If you would like more information about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has comparisons to other similar Canon models like the M6mkII, T7i/77D, 80D, and the 7DmkII. I also have sample images taken with the camera. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1K36NNGFV9ZCU/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B07WFQYDD5
Question: How many card slots
Answer: There is only one slot. This will not be an issue the high majority of the time, but I felt that Canon has no reason not to add a second slot in cameras in this class. Sony and Fuji do, but Canon and Nikon both for some reason do not. Again, not likely to ever matter, but makes the camera less appealing as an event camera. I felt strongly enough about it to remove a star from the camera in my review (top review on Amazon). If you would like to have more info about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has suggestions/comparisons to other cameras. There are also sample images taken with the 90D. User questions & answers

Question: Will autofocus work on the D750 with my older Nikon 80-400mm lens
Answer: The first lens I have on my d750 was the older 80-400mm and it works fine. The D750 (and all FX dslrs) has both body motor and use the af-s lens motor
Question: How comfortable is this camera for a woman with small hands
Answer: I have small hands and I love it. I did have to get used to buttons being in different places from my other camera. Nikon d5100. The d750 is an awesome camera. It is lightweight too.
Question: Can you use DX lenses in DX mode with this camera? Thanks
Answer: Yes, DX lenses can be used on FX cameras, but that would be a total waste of money buying a camera like this, because your DX lenses cannot use all of the full frame sensor, which is the reason to buy Nikon cameras D610 and above to begin with. You would be much better off getting a D7100, a DX camera for over $1k less.
Question: Is the 24-120 kit lens a good choice for this camera, or is the 24-70 a much better choice for mostly landscapes? Is the 24-70 noticeably sharper
Answer: For me this is about aperture the F-24 to 70 is a 2.8 aperture lens the 24 to 120 is an F-4 if you plan on shooting in low light with out having to extend you ISO to noise range the 2.8 24 to 70 will work bast but if you have a budget and plan on using strobes or Speed lights than in may not matter. there many factor that you can come up with but it's also mainly what you perfer. Good Luck

User questions & answers

Question: Is this overkill for some one who needs a point and shoot and doesn't know how to use a camera
Answer: As a "bridge" camera, it has a lot of the features of a full SLR camera (in fact, the only thing else I'd expect from a better camera would be time-lapse and a detachable lens). Of about 8 settings, there is one that functions effectively as full point-and-shoot mode, and you need not ever venture from it. But as situations come up where you want to experiment, you can explore the different modes, and once you're good at them, you'll gradually grow into all the features.
Question: Does the camera come with any accessories besides the battery
Answer: It comes with the battery and charger and shoulder strap. It has built-in wifi, so there's no need for a USB cable, though it does have a port. It's small and quite lightweight. I hope this was helpful to you
Question: how is the image quality? how would it compare with professional photographs
Answer: The pixel count is twice that of a really good phone (iPhone 6 for say) and half that of an entry level dslr. The 4.3 -215mm lens ensures that any range you shoot from will be fine. When I bought this camera, I was hoping for blurred backgrounds but this camera doesn't have an adjustable f ratio. The quality is very nice. If you're interested in the video quality it's always grainy and the built in mic not only sucks as a mic but also pucks up all the extra sound the camera starts making when you enter this mode. There is not mic jack. I bought this camera as a starter but I recommend upgrading to the Nikon d3100 or d3200. I have found that Nikon gives better deals for better cameras. The cameras I recommended are about $100 more and 100% worth the upgrade. They have twice the pixel count, interchangeable lenses, a controllable f stop, viewfinder, and ect. It's definitely worth it. I shoot every day and have found that this camera, despite the huge step up from what I was using before, is limiting me in what I can do.
Question: Can anyone tell me how to force the flash when the sensor says it has enough light? ie - taking a portrait of someone with sunset in background
Answer: I believe you only have to lift the hidden light immediately above where it says Canon in white and in front of where it says PowerShot SX360 HS near the top middle of the camera...

A seek assist function helps with panning shots and video, especially when capturing the expressions of fast-moving subjects. It automatically detects panning, then zooms accordingly to keep their face the same size.

Creative Shot Mode

The Creative Shot mode featured on the PowerShot SX530 HS camera helps create images with artistic flair. It analyzes the individual scene, subject and exposure to apply any of 46 filter options. In addition to the original shot, the camera automatically produces and saves five additional variations of the composition. Filter choices are grouped into Retro, Monochrome, Special and Natural categories for easy access, or simply select Auto to use the full range of effects.

Hybrid Auto

Hybrid Auto records up to four seconds of video every time you shoot a still image, then automatically joins the clips and pictures7 into a video. This mode automatically recognizes the scene and optimizes camera settings to capture the highest possible image quality. The resulting 1080p HD video is properly exposed, crisp and steady for a stunningly beautiful highlight reel.

Smart AUTO automatically detects and analyzes scenes so the camera can make optimal settings to help ensure the best possible image capture, whether you're shooting stills or video. With Smart AUTO, all you have to do is frame your shot and capture away.

High-speed AF

Canon's advanced AF achieves a significant increase in speed for a shooting experience that's spontaneous and natural. The remarkably responsive high-speed AF lets you capture great shots as they happen, with reduced lag time. In addition to improved AF algorithms, the camera can process multiple sequences simultaneously, and takes advantage of reworked controls between AF and the start of shooting.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have slow motion mode
Answer: Any camera that can shoot 60fps can achieve that smooth slow motion you’re looking for if you edit it in 24fps in your editing software and slow down your footage by 40%. Make sure your shutter speed is 60 at the lowest (ideally 120 or faster)
Question: I bought the G7 with 14-42mm kit lens. Images are great but there's a substantial amount of vignetting effect. Are there any solutions to this
Answer: Vignetting can naturally occur in all lenses, or can be caused or intensified due to use of external tools such as filters, filter holders and lens hoods. You did not say if you used the flash, this can sometimes throw a shadow caused by the lens hood. Also if you're trying to take pictures at the "short" end 14mm you might remove the hood to see if that helps.
Question: is this the american version
Answer: All of these should be the version sold in the US unless they say otherwise.
Question: Does the lens come with a hood
Answer: Yes, a hood is included. The manufacturer packages this model with the following accessories:*Li-ion Battery*Battery Charger*Body Cap*Hot Shoe Cover*Shoulder Strap*USB Connection Cable*AC Cable*Software DVD-ROM*Lens Hood*Lens Storage Bag*Front & Rear Lens Caps

  • 4K Burst S/S: Start and stop a burst.
  • 4K Pre-Burst: 1 Sec. prior to shutter release for 60 frames.

Intelligent auto focusing [AF] tracks the color, size, and motion vector of the subject, enabling quick and precise focus lock. So you’ll shoot with confidence without worrying about blurry results.

High Speed AF with DFD Technology

Panasonic’s exclusive Depth-From-Defocus (DFD) Auto Focus (AF) technology calculates the distance to subjects, then quickly adjusts the focus. Enjoy continuous Auto Focus up to 6 frames per second.

Focus Peaking

A manual “focus peaking” color outline indicates the exact in-focus area along with depth-of-field distance.

Silent Shooting

Shoot silently in hushed settings with a quiet and fast AF System and with no shutter noise.

Starlight AF

4EV low light auto focus lets you clearly capture subjects using only moonlight as a light source.

User questions & answers

Question: I will have to obtain a replacement for my beloved 50D. I am guessing that the batteries will not work with the 90D, but what about the lenses
Answer: Battery - 50D does not use the same battery. It uses the BP-511A, and the 90D uses the LP-E6N. Several models do use the LP-E6N, but I think in the APS-C line it's the 70D and up. For lenses - All EF and EF-S lenses will work on the 90D, same as the 50D. Anything that worked on the 50D will also work on the 90D. Some of the older lenses, mostly cheaper zooms, don't really look very good on the 32mp sensor, due to the high pixel density. If you would like more information about the 90D, you should check out the review on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and has comparisons to several other cameras for reference. There are also sample images taken with the camera. Here is a link to the review. Be sure to check the comment section for an update to the review that Amazon will not allow me to post, for some unknown reason. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1K36NNGFV9ZCU/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B07WFQYDD5
Question: What type of tether cable can I use on the 90D the usb with not fit my older cable
Answer: It uses micro USB. Any micro USB cable is fine, it doesn't have to be a Canon cable. You phone may have come with one, depending on how old it is. One caveat, not all of these cables are made for data transfer. Sometimes cables that are included with electronic devices that are meant to be used to charge with, they do not have the connectors to use for data transfer. Be sure that it is a data transfer cable. If nothing else, they are fairly inexpensive cables, you could just buy one. Simply type "Micro USB cable" into the search and it will come up. The amazon basics will work fine. If you would like more info about the 90D, you should check out the review I have for the camera on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has sample images taken with the camera. There are also comparisons to other cameras that you might have considered. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1K36NNGFV9ZCU?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp
Question: How do l find out where this is shipped from
Answer: You can find the info about the seller under the "Add to Cart" and "Buy Now" buttons. If it is Amazon, then it will be from the nearest Amazon warehouse. If from an independent seller, then you would need to seek them out and ask them. If you would like to have more info about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has suggestions/comparisons to other cameras. There are also sample images taken with the 90D. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1K36NNGFV9ZCU?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp
Question: Is this a full-size sensor or cropped
Answer: Crop sensor, 1.6x crop. If you would like more information about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has comparisons to other similar Canon models like the M6mkII, T7i/77D, 80D, and the 7DmkII.
