An improved noise processing algorithm provides unprecedented performance in shadows or low light shooting where high ISO settings are critical for good performance. With the highest ISO in it’s class, the K-1 has achieved a staggering sensitivity range of up to ISO 204,800. This is attributable to a combination of the new large pixel, full frame sensor that has high noise resistance, and the new PRIME IV processor. Newly developed 5-axis SR II system covers the shake of yaw, pitch, roll, vertical, and horizontal motion of the camera. Shake reduction performance is improved to 5 shutter steps of compensation effect. Since SR is built-in to the K-1 body, it’s operation works with every K-mount lens. Combining both the K-1’s SR mechanism and the GPS feature, Astro Tracer easily tracks and photographs astronomical objects. By using movement of the image sensor during image exposure, the K-1 sensor generates the same level of moire-reduction effect as optical AA (anti-aliasing) filter, without the softening effect. | Answer: | I don't worry about the camera body itself - but I do worry if I'm using a non-weather sealed lens about the lens itself. I've shot in sleet/snow/driving rain for football games, and I've been to some brutal ones with my KP and my Tamron 70-200 f/2.8. The combination was wonderful, though I did purchase an Altura rain hood, which worked fantastic, though I cut hole in the back so I could see the viewfinder better through the vinyl window. I didn't need the weather sealing there since it was a) up to my eye most of the time and (b) the lens was covered, it was just the back with the viewfinder and the LCD screen that was exposed. (it worked great by the way... and I got some fantastic shots at that game too, during a goal line stand, friday night high school football. It was great. That said, I've been out with the KP and my 55mm f/1.4 in the rain doing shots around my city - but I've preferred still to keep something with me to keep water from directly hitting it. I've even used the sleeve of an old fleece sweatshirt that seems to repel water for long enough to get shots I want, then pull it off. Works out well, and less for me to dry after. After all, I don't want water drops on the front of the lens (hard to fix those in post for night shots..) and all that. |
