User questions & answers
Question: | Where are the slides, covers, and dyes manufactured |
Answer: | First there are no indications on the box of contents where they were manufactured. Having said this, based on the company's profile I would wager they are manufactured in China. All they have state side are representatives but no manufacturing. |
Question: | What stain would you need to prepare a parasite slide |
Answer: | As a professional microbiologist ( college professor), I haven't done this in decades, but I'd recommend searching online as staining procedures are very specific for good reason. Timing , techniques for what we term "fuxation", order of staining, rinsing, are the results of many trials. You can try discovering your own pricedure, but you may find it frustrating -or not. One tip: even "pre-cleaned" micro slides need extra cleaning. Buy some Bon Ami cleanser (One of the soft scrubs will work in a pinch), and rinse the slide under running warm tap water. Sprinkle with Bon Ami powder on both sides, and gently scrub with your clean fingers. Rinse both sides. Drain, touching edge to clean, dry paper towel to assist drying. Then rinse with a few drops of 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol the slide, and drsin and air dry. NOW your slide is clean and grease/oil free. Rinse cover slips under running warm water, then with the alcohol and allow to air dry. These steps will do much to ensure a good outcome to your slide prep work. |
Question: | The stains came as a dry concentrate but there are no directions as to how to dilute them, how do I do this |
Answer: | Add one shake/drop of powder to a teaspoon of water. This was our guesstimitation and it worked. |
Question: | how is the Eosin diluted |
Answer: | As a Medical Technologist, I can answer that question. Eosin and Methylene Blue are used to stain blood slides. First you make the blood smear, then fix it with an alcohol-based fixative, let it dry. Put the eosin on straight, do not dilute. Then rinse the slide with distilled water, put the methylene blue on, and rinse again. Each stain needs to sit on the slide about a minute, I like to leave them for two minutes. If you don't fix the slide first and let it dry, the blood will wash off. There were no directions included stating that the eosin had the fixative incorporated into it, so I bought separate hematology stains with the fixative included. Let the slide air dry before looking at it under your microscope. Use the oil-immersion lens and immersion oil for best viewing. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Any paperwork, instructions come with these slides |
Answer: | No there are no instructions that come with it |
Question: | Could I use glass glue with these to make something? Will it stick |
Answer: | I haven't tried but I would assume so because it is actual glass. |
Question: | What is the difference between the blue box and red box except quantity |
Answer: | IDK, I only bought the red box. By comparing descriptions, I see a different vendor and different quantity as the only differences. |
Question: | Anyone know what the difference is between the "Red" 72 pack and the "Blue" 50 pack |
Answer: | its just a color description, but with less slides for blue 50, the red pack is 72 slides. they are pre clean but you will see some lint from the sheet separators. overall great product! |

Product description
This professional trinocular compound microscope provides both darkfield and brightfield features. It boasts three unique features no other microscope dealer can claim, designed for professional applications in clinical offices and research laboratories. Different from most other microscopes on the market, the T490B is remarkable because it features 1) simultaneous viewing through the photo port and eyepieces, 2) an adjustable parfocal trinocular port, and 3) a detachable C-Mount located on the 23mm photo port. T490B's adjustable trinocular port creates a parfocal optical system by allowing the image system attached to the photo port and the image in the eyepieces to be in focus at the same time. Traditional microscopes on the market allow you to see through either the trinocular port or eyepieces, forcing you to switch between the port and eyepieces. Because their trinocular port is not designed to be par-focal with the microscope optical system, you have to conduct re-focusing after each "switch". The T490B, however, has simultaneous viewing and parfocal trinocular port so that these "switch" and "re-focusing" are no longer necessary. Especially handy for teaching demonstrations, clinical examinations and laboratory applications, these features allow your students or colleagues to view crystal clear images simultaneously while you work through the eyepieces. In addition, the T490B's industry standard 23mm photo port can be converted into a C-Mount port by putting on the free C-mount adapter included, allowing you to attach most of microscope digital cameras and video systems on the market. This versatile microscope is also capable of being upgraded with various accessories and attachments for additional functions. The T490B also includes a 30° inclined 360° swiveling compensation-free trinocular head, a 3-D mechanical stage, and an intensity-variable halogen illumination system. This microscope is made by the same technicians and on the same production
- Four remarkable darkfield & brightfield features:
- simultaneous viewing through the photo port and eyepieces
- adjustable parfocal trinocular port
- detachable C-Mount located on the 23mm photo port
- sixteen darkfield and brightfield magnification powers
User questions & answers
Question: | Does it has a computer interface |
Answer: | This is halogen illumination. |
Question: | has camera |
Answer: | Yes, the microscope comes with both darkfield and brightfield condenser. |
Question: | LED illumination |
Answer: | There is no problem with using it at home. Any waste material from the slides can be disposed of in regular trash as long as it is not human tissue. |
Question: | This scope only dark field or come with bright field |
Answer: | I looked up a list of common stains and what they're normally used for to respond to your question. Short answer is stains generally go with color. If you're looking at chloroplasts then green(like a plant) but red blood cells then go for the red stain. Here's a link with commonly used stains and what they're for https://www.microscopeworld.com/t-microscope_slide_staining.aspx I bought this because it's a good deal. Pipettes, slides, cover slips, and 7 stains when most stain kits didn't include that many. |

Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use it on to see the grain structure of metal |
Answer: | As long as you have sufficient light to illuminate an opaque object, yes. |
Question: | The camera in the photo says 0.3mp on it. does this really include a 5mp camera, or do you get the 640x480 camera in the picture |
Answer: | Haven't used this function yet |
Question: | Since you cannot use the eye piece with the camera, what magnification can you use with computer screen |
Answer: | We used a 24 in. monitor with max magnification. Lighting set up end being a bit tricked out but we were not looking for a a fully clear image, objects .0005" just their outline so we could justify a more extensive set-up. At 200X things are clear and sharp. Just stating our experience based on short term project. |
Question: | can you attach a dslr camera |
Answer: | I think you would need an adapter. The included camera just slides in the same tube as the eyepiece. |
