12 best nikon binoculars for stargazings

Nikon offers a variety of binoculars suitable for stargazing, and these products are related to the categories of binoculars, binocular scopes, camera photo, and electronics. Here's what you can expect from Nikon binoculars designed for stargazing:

  1. Optical Quality: Nikon is known for its high-quality optics, and their stargazing binoculars are no exception. These binoculars typically feature premium lenses and prisms that provide clear, sharp, and bright views of celestial objects.

  2. Magnification and Objective Lens Size: Nikon offers a range of binoculars with different magnifications and objective lens sizes. For stargazing, binoculars with moderate magnification (typically 7x to 10x) and larger objective lenses (typically 42mm or greater) are often preferred. These specifications allow for better light-gathering capability and a wider field of view.

  3. Prism Type: Nikon's stargazing binoculars commonly use roof prisms or porro prisms. Roof prisms provide a more streamlined and compact design, while porro prisms offer improved depth perception.

  4. Coatings: Nikon binoculars are equipped with multiple coatings to enhance image quality. This includes anti-reflective coatings on lens surfaces to reduce glare and improve light transmission, as well as phase-correction coatings for improved image contrast and clarity.

  5. Weather Resistance: Some Nikon binoculars designed for stargazing are built to be weather-resistant or waterproof. This feature is valuable for astronomers who may stargaze in various outdoor conditions.

  6. Comfort and Ergonomics: Nikon pays attention to the ergonomic design of their binoculars to ensure they are comfortable to hold and use for extended periods. They often feature rubber armor for a secure grip and shock resistance.

  7. Tripod Adaptable: Many Nikon binoculars come with a tripod adapter thread, allowing you to mount them on a tripod for stable and extended stargazing sessions. This helps reduce hand fatigue during prolonged observations.

  8. Eye Relief: Nikon considers the comfort of eyeglass wearers by providing long eye relief in some of their binocular models. This allows individuals who wear glasses to use the binoculars without removing their eyewear.

  9. Field of View: Nikon's stargazing binoculars typically offer a wide field of view, making it easier to locate and track celestial objects.

  10. Price Range: Nikon offers a range of binoculars at different price points, catering to both beginners and more experienced stargazers. The price can vary based on the features and specifications of the binoculars.

Nikon's binoculars for stargazing are designed to provide astronomers with clear and immersive views of the night sky. When choosing the right pair, consider factors such as magnification, objective lens size, and your specific stargazing preferences. User questions & answers

Question: do they come with a case or is there one that's recommended
Answer: Good morning! Yes, they come with a case, strap, and lens covers. If there is anything else I can assist you with, please let me know! Jessica S., Brandshopper Stores Customer Service
Question: Are these binoculars recommended for bird watching too
Answer: 8x42 is the defacto standard for bird watching. If you want a pair for both astronomy and bird watching, I'd recommend the Aculon 8x42 - a great all-around binocular!
Question: Are these suitable for basic stargazing
Answer: It is a way of stargazing. Binoculars are a good way to learn the night sky, and how to learn how to move around in the night sky. Something like this would be excellent. 7 x 50 (no higher magnification) wide angle, good glass, good adjustments. Get a star finder disk and Get an Edmunds mag 5 star atlas or something like it. Hundreds of Hours of fun. Good viewing!!
Question: Hi, the lenses are glass or plastic
Answer: Alex, they are glass. I have used several different binoculars through out my life, and I would have to say, these are outstanding for around the $100 range. They are very bright and also very clear. Hope this helps.

User questions & answers

Question: The specs say this product weighs 4.8 oz but some of the reviews complain of the weight. Just how much do these binoculars weigh
Answer: Weighed in at 36.68 oz and another 5.5 oz for the case and strap. (approx 2.6 lbs all in)
Question: On the product information section it lists batteries: 1 Lithium ion batteries required. What is this for
Answer: An error. Batteries are only required for image stabilization, this binocular is not that type.
Question: Will the 7245 be good for bright moon or star observations. There has been some reviews that state the lenses will distort on a full moon
Answer: Actually I use these to observe the moon and they are wonderful. I certainly do not notice any distortion and can see many dozens if not hundreds of moon craters and the image is bright and razor sharp. I can also easily see the Galilean moons of Jupiter with these. Jupiter is visible in the early nighttime right now. The Galilean moons can be clearly seen with these binoculars hand held but for a steady image I highly recommend a heavy tripod with a binocular adapter. The 7245 of course has built in threading for a tripod binoculars adapter. I was so surprised that such celestial objects are clearly visible with these. Highly recommended.
Question: I'm looking for a binocular that is exceptionally good in low light to watch feeding owls at dusk and after. How do these 10x 50's perform
Answer: Good low-light performance is almost entirely dependent on the magnification and diameter of the lens. From this you can derive exit pupil diameter and twilight factor which are both important for low-light viewing. These binoculars have an exit pupil of 5mm (50mm lens / 10x magnification), which is close to as wide as human pupils get (~7mm in total darkness). The twilight factor for 10x50mm binoculars are about as good as it gets while still having the magnification and size low enough to avoid excessive shaking of the image from your hand movement. Many people will try to talk about light transmission as important for low-light, but keep in mind that almost all decent Porro lens binoculars that cost more than $100 or so will have light transmission greater than 80% across most of the visible range. The difference between 80% and e.g. 95% light transmission has a rather small effect on perceived brightness, and really shouldn't be an important factor in choosing your optics. Blue light transmission is more important in low light conditions, and some binoculars have significantly lower or higher transmission in that region of the light spectrum, but still these binoculars have been spec'd at >75% transmission for blue. Keep in mind that the difference in brightness between 95% and 75% transmission is approximately equivalent to the brightness difference between one minute and the next minute during the time between sunset and dusk.

User questions & answers

Question: Do they come with case
Answer: Yes they do. Also come with a neck strap and protective lens cups.
Question: sholder strap for nikon
Answer: Yes if you are very mobile or toting a camera.
Question: Are these good to look at papergargets at 100-200 yards
Answer: Yes ! If you go any stronger, you will need a stand to keep them still.
Question: How are these for beginner star gazing with a tripod
Answer: You will need a tripod adapter, which is sold separately. The usual recommendation for beginners is to get 10x50 because they are versatile - you can hold them steady, they have a wide field of view, and you get a bright image in dark skies. With 12x they will be a bit harder to focus correctly and hold steady, and the image will be slightly darker - but if you live in an area with a lot of light pollution, or your pupils just don't dilate enough to take in the extra light, you won't see a difference. The benefit of 12x is more detail on the Moon and enhanced ability to distinguish objects that aren't stars. On a tripod, stability is less of an issue, and you can go to higher zoom and heavier binoculars - you might even consider a 15x70 or 25x70 pair. The downside to a tripod is it can get uncomfortable trying to position yourself to look at certain parts of the sky. If you decide to graduate to big binoculars or a telescope later, a handheld 10x or 12x50 pair of binoculars will still be useful for spotting, and for when you just don't want to haul tripods and other kit around.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference between the monarch 5 7576 and the monarch 3 7540, what are the different features, and the difference in the optical quality
Answer: My brother is the expert that gave me all of my information. I don't understand all the technical stuff, but he said that there is a huge difference in the quality of the "glass" between the 3 and the 5. The clarity is well worth the difference in price. I have used my husbands hunting bins for bird watching (one pair was a Nikon brand) and believe me, my monarch 5 7576 is so much clearer than his, I am afraid to let him borrow them for fear I won't get them back. Haha.
Question: Are these binocs... the Monarch 5 10x42 good for long distance viewing for instance at the beach, looking out on the ocean at ships or for whales
Answer: The power is adequate enough to enhance the view but not so powerful that you can't hold steady on the image. So no, you won't get long distance detail but it will bring the image closer. I find high powered binocs almost impossible to hold steady. These are the perfect balance. I love them.
Question: What comes in the box? carry case? strap
Answer: carry case, strap, lens covers for both front and back and user manuals. Suggest you purchase the pencil style Nikon lens cleaning tool as well... Very handy and only $7.00. we live at the beach. The optics are indeed amazing for the price.
Question: Should I be really concerned about the adverse reviews on the lens caps
Answer: Yes & No. I use binoculars for my work and own several pairs of various manufacturer's bino's & spotting scopes. These binoculars are a great value. At this price point, in my experience, they have better than average optical quality and build quality for this price range. The lens caps are junk. Nikon claims the ocular (eye piece) lens cover is purposely designed for a loose fit....they fit so loosely they fail to protect the lens from dust & dirt. The PRIMARY job of a lens cap is to protect the lenses, not be convenient. If you are at all active while wearing them, the lens cover will come off, providing no protection, increasing the risk of damage. Also, the highest likelihood of damage to lenses comes from improper cleaning and you will be cleaning the ocular lenses often. Be careful, use the right soft cloth or a lens pen, and try not to scratch or remove the coatings. The Objective lens covers are a little better. They fit better and were redesigned to have both an inner and outer lip to grip the barrels better. They are attached to the barrels, but over time, the plastic tether will break. Nikon will send you replacements when this happens. I do find you must swivel these caps out of the way. If you don't, they have a tendency to pop up into your field of view. The sad thing is every time I use these, these little, easily solved problems are a constant annoyance. I tried installing a thin strip of duct tape on the ocular lens cover, which helped them fit better, but over time, the tape slips when it's warm out and you get a sticky mess on your eyepieces. Thank God for Goo Gone. I wish Nikon would pay attention to their Customers and fix the problem.

User questions & answers

Question: What difference is there between nikon action extreme 16x50 porro prism ($219) and this listing nikon action ex extreme atb binocular
Answer: The more expensive version is, I believe, the latest version of this binocular. Nikon's website lists the porro version but not this version, and at the $219 price. I do like this binocular, but it is not as comfortable and is not as easy to use as a lesser magnification binocular like the 7x35 or 8x40, which are wonderful binoculars. This 16x magnification model is a big binocular and is more difficult to keep steady when viewing, and needs to be re-focused more often as the depth of area in focus is less than the 7x and 8x magnification binoculars, but the magnification of this 16x is quite impressive and does have a clean image. This binocular does get easier to use thru time.
Question: How far (distance) can can we spot birds clearly
Answer: Hi Christus, I am not familiar with the Nikon 7245 but you need to know that the number 10x in the description is the magnification power. Of course to magnify 16x is much better than 10x. Brings the desired object much closer. The 50mm is field of view or the actual area which can be seen at a distance, which is a very wide view compared to other models. hope this helps.
Question: Can we downgrade the magnification to 10 or 12 as per temporary need OR is it always 16X magnification?? Please confirm
Answer: this binoc is a fixed 16x, and as such cannot change at all.however, my professional view is that you should rather stick to a 10-12 x magnification, which is better and easier to hand hold.(even 12x takes a very steady hand)(16 x hand-held in untrained hands, will make you vomit!)the 16-20x is really only for tripod useage.hope that hepls.
Question: nicon 7247 does it have a screw on bottom to put on tri pod
Answer: Has a bolt with screw, it's perfect! Just do not have it in the description!

User questions & answers

Question: Are these easy to adjust? Are they easy to keep in the position you want them in or do they come loose after use
Answer: You can see the Moon and Saturn, and stars. How far can you see a specific item with sufficient definition to identify it? Determine how far you can do so with the naked eye and multiply by the binocular's magnifivation, e.g., if you can identify a person in a crowd at 100 yards easily, you will be able to do so equally well at 1000 yards with a 10x binocular. A bird at 50 yards will appear through the binoculars as it was 5 yards away.
Question: can you see much in dim light
Answer: Yes it does. It is a soft case.
Question: What is the optical and image quality of the 10 x 50 binoculars
Answer: Usually eye relief of 11mm or more works good for people with glasses. This one has 17mm eye relief. So this one should be okay. Again, this is theoretical and personal comfort needs to be taken into account.
Question: Is there a hard case that these binoculars will fit nicely into
Answer: 10x magnification versus 8x magnification. If you're bird-watching, hunting, etc., 10x is better. If you're watching a football game, needing low light capability, or genersl-purpose observation, e.g., standing watch on a ship 8x is better.

User questions & answers

Question: Can these be adjusted (collimation) if they are misaligned
Answer: I don't know why you are asking for that comparison. The ring light is compatible with most i phones & androids. I record with an old i phone 6S and it produces the quality I need. I am presuming that if you film with a 12 Pro Max the quality will be even better. The clamps are adjustable so size should not matter.
Question: is this binocular product included a tripod
Answer: It has 3 shade settings, two white types and an amber, and each setting has a variant of around 6 degrees of brightness from mild to bright so you have many settings to play with until you find the one that suits your need for a particular shade you require.
Question: Hello I want to ask how this weighs endoscope Thanks
