Answer:	The box states made in China. These are awesome ones though, very high quality. For a little less money the Vanguard Endeavor ED ones like the 10.5x45 are very nice. A bit heavier and also made in China.

Answer:	Just got the Monarch 7 10x42mm. Included was a warranty card that states it is a lifetime warranty by Nikon. Purchased from Helix Camera so I am guessing two years ago it was 25 years but now it is lifetime. The Nikon USA site gives the warranty as lifetime also. By the way, this is only honored if purchased from an authorized Nikon dealer (Helix is an authorized dealer). Purchased on Amazon from a dealer who was not an authorized Nikon dealer. The box had the serial number covered and inside the box there was a card saying the warranty was only for 1 year. Returned it and purchased from Helix for the full USA warranty. Cost a few dollars more, but piece of mind for an expensive binocular was worth the few dollars more to me. Answer:	I do not know what the water proof level is. I use the binocs in Alaska on light rainy days with no problem. The binocs worked well. I recommend them.

Answer:	these are very good for star gazing. remember the first number is magnification. i can see jupiters moons with any high quality binocs but higher mag the better. saturn is a more difficult and distant object but you will still make out 'bulges'. venus can be clearly defined as a crescent as well.

Answer:	Lens caps would help prevent dusts to get to the lens while in storage (they have nothing to do with viewing). Mine when bough came with the eyepiece len caps already,

Answer:	An error. Batteries are only required for image stabilization, this binocular is not that type.
Question:	Will the 7245 be good for bright moon or star observations. There has been some reviews that state the lenses will distort on a full moon
Answer:	Actually I use these to observe the moon and they are wonderful. I certainly do not notice any distortion and can see many dozens if not hundreds of moon craters and the image is bright and razor sharp. I can also easily see the Galilean moons of Jupiter with these. Jupiter is visible in the early nighttime right now. The Galilean moons can be clearly seen with these binoculars hand held but for a steady image I highly recommend a heavy tripod with a binocular adapter. The 7245 of course has built in threading for a tripod binoculars adapter. I was so surprised that such celestial objects are clearly visible with these. Highly recommended.
Question:	I'm looking for a binocular that is exceptionally good in low light to watch feeding owls at dusk and after. How do these 10x 50's perform
Answer:	Good low-light performance is almost entirely dependent on the magnification and diameter of the lens. From this you can derive exit pupil diameter and twilight factor which are both important for low-light viewing. These binoculars have an exit pupil of 5mm (50mm lens / 10x magnification), which is close to as wide as human pupils get (~7mm in total darkness). The twilight factor for 10x50mm binoculars are about as good as it gets while still having the magnification and size low enough to avoid excessive shaking of the image from your hand movement. Many people will try to talk about light transmission as important for low-light, but keep in mind that almost all decent Porro lens binoculars that cost more than $100 or so will have light transmission greater than 80% across most of the visible range. The difference between 80% and e.g. 95% light transmission has a rather small effect on perceived brightness, and really shouldn't be an important factor in choosing your optics. Blue light transmission is more important in low light conditions, and some binoculars have significantly lower or higher transmission in that region of the light spectrum, but still these binoculars have been spec'd at >75% transmission for blue. Keep in mind that the difference in brightness between 95% and 75% transmission is approximately equivalent to the brightness difference between one minute and the next minute during the time between sunset and dusk.

Question:	What difference is there between nikon action extreme 16x50 porro prism ($219) and this listing nikon action ex extreme atb binocular
Answer:	The more expensive version is, I believe, the latest version of this binocular. Nikon's website lists the porro version but not this version, and at the $219 price. I do like this binocular, but it is not as comfortable and is not as easy to use as a lesser magnification binocular like the 7x35 or 8x40, which are wonderful binoculars. This 16x magnification model is a big binocular and is more difficult to keep steady when viewing, and needs to be re-focused more often as the depth of area in focus is less than the 7x and 8x magnification binoculars, but the magnification of this 16x is quite impressive and does have a clean image. This binocular does get easier to use thru time.
Question:	How far (distance) can can we spot birds clearly
Answer:	Hi Christus, I am not familiar with the Nikon 7245 but you need to know that the number 10x in the description is the magnification power. Of course to magnify 16x is much better than 10x. Brings the desired object much closer. The 50mm is field of view or the actual area which can be seen at a distance, which is a very wide view compared to other models. hope this helps.

Answer:	this binoc is a fixed 16x, and as such cannot change at all.however, my professional view is that you should rather stick to a 10-12 x magnification, which is better and easier to hand hold.(even 12x takes a very steady hand)(16 x hand-held in untrained hands, will make you vomit!)the 16-20x is really only for tripod useage.hope that hepls.

The usual recommendation for beginners is to get 10x50 because they are versatile - you can hold them steady, they have a wide field of view, and you get a bright image in dark skies. With 12x they will be a bit harder to focus correctly and hold steady, and the image will be slightly darker - but if you live in an area with a lot of light pollution, or your pupils just don't dilate enough to take in the extra light, you won't see a difference. The benefit of 12x is more detail on the Moon and enhanced ability to distinguish objects that aren't stars.On a tripod, stability is less of an issue, and you can go to higher zoom and heavier binoculars - you might even consider a 15x70 or 25x70 pair. The downside to a tripod is it can get uncomfortable trying to position yourself to look at certain parts of the sky. If you decide to graduate to big binoculars or a telescope later, a handheld 10x or 12x50 pair of binoculars will still be useful for spotting, and for when you just don't want to haul tripods and other kit around.

Binoculars come in a wide range of shapes and sizes these days, and an even wider range of prices. It's easy to spend less than $100 or more than $500 for what may appear to be, at least outwardly, comparable models. While they may look the same, they are probably quite different on the inside.

Recently, the binocular market has seen a flood of giant binoculars at prices that were unheard of just a few years ago. In general, giant binoculars are defined as those that magnify the view 10 times or more and have 70-mm or larger front (objective) lenses. It used to be that the least expensive giant binoculars cost in excess of $150, even $200. All that changed not long ago, when the bottom fell out of the price cellar. Now, several companies import giant binoculars that sell for half that, or less.

Celestron's 15x70 SkyMaster binoculars are one of the leaders in the low-price giant binocular arena. They certainly sound good on paper. The SkyMasters include multicoated optics and BaK-4 internal prisms, two features that promise brighter, better images, and key points to look for when judging a pair of binoculars. They also come with an adapter for attaching them to a photo tripod, which is a must to use them to their fullest, and a soft carrying case. But just because they are cheap doesn't always mean they are worth the price. Would it be better to save up for a more expensive pair?

To find the answer, I had an opportunity recently to judge the SkyMasters against a pair of Fujinon 16x70 FMT-SX binoculars , one of the finest pairs of giant binoculars sold today. Like the SkyMasters, the Fujinons feature BaK-4 prisms, but also have fully multicoated optics. As a general rule, superior coatings mean superior image sharpness and contrast. But then, that should be expected, given that the Fujinons cost many times more than the Celestrons.

While the Fujinons were clearly the better performer, the Celestron SkyMasters held up admirably. Image brightness, quality, and contrast were all remarkable considering their bargain price. Although images were a little soft across the outer 25% of the Celestron's field, the overall view was impressive nonetheless.

Some inexpensive binoculars have very sloppy focusing, causing the eyepieces to tilt and shift. Not so with the SkyMasters. I found that their center-focusing mechanism worked smoothly, with no apparently backlash or wobble. Eye relief (the distance you hold your eyes away from the eyepieces to see the full field) is stated to be 18 mm, a good distance for higher power binoculars and an important consideration if you must wear glasses when viewing. The SkyMasters are also light enough to support by hand for short periods of time, although buyers would be well advised to mount them on a sturdy photo tripod.

The bottom line is, if you are considering a pair of giant binoculars, whether for bird watching, stargazing, or another recreational use, and have a limited budget, Celestron's giant 15x70 SkyMasters represent an excellent value. --Phil Harrington, author of Star Ware and Star Watch

Question:	why do so many people prefer these over the 20x80 and 25x
Answer:	15x is at the upper limit of what can be hand held. Higher powers would need a tripod to be steady enough. Even at 15x some people would need a tripod or something to lean against. Lower powers give wider fields of view and brighter images. Large binoculars such as 80mm are heavy and need a tripod regardless of magnification. If you want both bright images and high powers look into larger binoculars such as 80 or 100mm.
Question:	can one side be adjusted seperately for my vision? I have decent vision in left eye and poor vision in right eye. thanks
Answer:	Yes, first use the center adjustment to get it focused correctly for the left eye...now close your left eye and look only thru your right eye and adjust the right eyepiece until it comes into focus. Now you should be able to see clearly with both eyes!
Question:	I wondering why so many people have said these work better than their telescopes? If these are 15x and a cheap tele is 100x why are these so great
Answer:	The principal feature of a telescope is not magnification, but light gathering power. These 70mm binoculars gather about as much light as a 100mm telescope. But since you are using both eyes, the view will appear better. But even in my case, with a 13" diameter mirror in my scope, before I look for anything my binoculars are out checking out the field of view and much of the time even showing me what my telescope will be looking at. Binoculars force you to learn the sky and not be dependent on any coordinate system. They show you larger objects like the double cluster in Perseus, the Pleiades and Hyades star clusters in Taurus, the Beehive cluster in Cancer and even the Andromeda Galaxy better than you can in a telescope because you simply get to see the object in context. There are some large, face-on galaxies like M-33 and M-101, which are easier to spot in these binoculars than they are in a 10" telescope. Without the context of the black sky behind the object there is no contrast and you can't see it.Even with a large telescope, you'll spend most of your time observing at under 100 power. Selling telescopes by magnification is just taking advantage of newbies because you can obtain any magnification with any telescope depending on what eyepiece you use. The question is "will you be able to see anything?"

Answer:	My brother is the expert that gave me all of my information. I don't understand all the technical stuff, but he said that there is a huge difference in the quality of the "glass" between the 3 and the 5. The clarity is well worth the difference in price. I have used my husbands hunting bins for bird watching (one pair was a Nikon brand) and believe me, my monarch 5 7576 is so much clearer than his, I am afraid to let him borrow them for fear I won't get them back. Haha.
Question:	Are these binocs... the Monarch 5 10x42 good for long distance viewing for instance at the beach, looking out on the ocean at ships or for whales
Answer:	The power is adequate enough to enhance the view but not so powerful that you can't hold steady on the image. So no, you won't get long distance detail but it will bring the image closer. I find high powered binocs almost impossible to hold steady. These are the perfect balance. I love them.

Answer:	carry case, strap, lens covers for both front and back and user manuals. Suggest you purchase the pencil style Nikon lens cleaning tool as well... Very handy and only $7.00. we live at the beach. The optics are indeed amazing for the price.
Question:	Should I be really concerned about the adverse reviews on the lens caps
Answer:	Yes & No. I use binoculars for my work and own several pairs of various manufacturer's bino's & spotting scopes. These binoculars are a great value. At this price point, in my experience, they have better than average optical quality and build quality for this price range. The lens caps are junk. Nikon claims the ocular (eye piece) lens cover is purposely designed for a loose fit....they fit so loosely they fail to protect the lens from dust & dirt. The PRIMARY job of a lens cap is to protect the lenses, not be convenient. If you are at all active while wearing them, the lens cover will come off, providing no protection, increasing the risk of damage. Also, the highest likelihood of damage to lenses comes from improper cleaning and you will be cleaning the ocular lenses often. Be careful, use the right soft cloth or a lens pen, and try not to scratch or remove the coatings. The Objective lens covers are a little better. They fit better and were redesigned to have both an inner and outer lip to grip the barrels better. They are attached to the barrels, but over time, the plastic tether will break. Nikon will send you replacements when this happens. I do find you must swivel these caps out of the way. If you don't, they have a tendency to pop up into your field of view. The sad thing is every time I use these, these little, easily solved problems are a constant annoyance. I tried installing a thin strip of duct tape on the ocular lens cover, which helped them fit better, but over time, the tape slips when it's warm out and you get a sticky mess on your eyepieces. Thank God for Goo Gone. I wish Nikon would pay attention to their Customers and fix the problem.

Answer:	The Nikon ProStaff 8x42 will focus sharp at 3 meters or about 9 feet 10 inches.

Answer:	Not sure what you mean by "Are these fogproof." Nikon advertises these Nikon 16030 binoculars as "waterproof" so I would think that condensation forming on the binocular will not result in damage. Will the lens fog? Absolutely yes, as will any cold surface in contact with atmospheric water vapor. When water vapor in the atmosphere contacts a cold surface (or cold binocular) the vapor cools and condenses into liquid water assuming certain conditions having to do with temperature and pressure are met. To reduce "fog" on the lens keep your binocular warm, inside your jacket if possible.
Question:	Is it really 4.8 oz or 19.9 oz, waterproof/fogproof, 413 ft/1,000 yd FOV
Answer:	They are 19.9 oz. I have had no issues with fogging and the ratio is correct. I hope this helps. They are the best binoculars I’ve had.

Answer:	These are about as powerful a binocular as you can buy but they work best on a tripod for viewing anything you want a crystal clear view of. I also had an issue with the interpupillary distance as well since they are big they don't have a very narrow interpupillary distance. Basically if your eyes are very close together this might not work for you. Also for stars I'd probably recommend a spotting scope or telescope. They just offer so much more magnification.

Answer:	Perfect! I have been told the Nikon lenses are the best and these are remarkably clear. The pair I bought are used to watch wildlife too and they will not disappoint. The soft sided case will protect against scratches, and will provide very good protection of the 4 outer lenses should you lose the well designed lens caps...but drop them from not even a table top height and they can get a devastating crack or complete snap off!! considering the quality of the binoculars (5 stars) I would expect something that offers more protection. I’ve had Minolta and other Nikons and the and the industry’s standards have gotten worse....Can’t they bring back the original hard cases?? And bring them back without a huge fee?

Answer:	these binoculars magnify things 10x greater than your normal vision. For an indoor gymnastics event I would look at something in the 3x - 8x magnification the 42 refers to the field of view. This might be okay for a gym depending on where you are sitting and size of the gym.
Question:	What is the difference between the 8x42 or 10x
Answer:	The first number; that is the 8 or the 10 refers to the magnification value. So, with a 10x42 you can bring things closer than with an 8x42. The 42 refers to the aperture or the size of the opening in the front element. The larger the aperture, the more light and things appear brighter. Choosing really depends on what you're using the binocular for and in what kind of light.
